Since you're doing speeches please, please have the teens react to Robert Kennedy's speech following the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. As a follow up have them react to Robert Kennedy's eulogy by his brother Ted Kennedy.
It's great that you are giving coverage to this speech, especially as probably most of your audience is young and may not have encounter it before. One of the greatest speeches ever made (or at least broadcasted)
Hitting right before the end? WW2 started in 1939 this was almost at the very beginning (1940) not right before the end (which is even more astonishing)
This is the greatest speech of all time. This speech is just as timeless as most Disney or Pixar movies. And I think we need more of these strong messages in movies today.
We watched the great dictator and talked about this speech in history class in 9th grade (Germany). I can remember vividly how touched I was by that and I'm happy, that through FBE kids are being exposed to this speech again
People look at their opposition and apply these words to them. They point out how they are "machine men" but we have to look to ourselves and judge us aswell.
The Great Dictator is in my top ten films list. I encourage those who reacted and those in the comments to watch it. If I remember correctly from Chaplin's autobiography, that particular speech came from the heart. It's a fantastic movie, a comedy but with a powerful speech.
Something my 87 year kid grandpa has always told me was "if we dont learn from our past we are doomed to repeat it". We both share a love for history, and just my opinion I dont think our entire society has learned the history of the mistakes made back then, and that why nothing has changed because we keep repeating our mistakes.
Charlie Chaplin was a very wise man. Making people happy and laugh is far tougher and harder than making people sad and cry. It needs sharp and powerful mind. Rest In peace Charlie Chaplin
People tend to forget that some of the most famous comedians in human history have been really intelligent and introspective people. Maybe it's the fact that they're able to put everything in perspective to make fun of it, which eventually turns into the ability to see the complete picture most of the time, which puts them in a higher level of understanding.
I like that this speech has gained traction in popular culture, but I wish that more people would see the film that it comes from, the Great Dictator. Not only would you get the speech in its full context, you'd get to watch arguably Charlie Chaplin's greatest film.
It is sad that this speech resonates so well today , because it means that we are all tangled in the chains of the oppression that his speech is addressing.
When he talks about “machine men” he’s talking about the military who are men who take orders without thought. The military are the “machine men,” it’s not that civilians get subdued into being machines.
Our lives are too short; our capacity to maintain a wide perspective and sense of historicity suffers for it, in spite of all the knowledge we constantly hoard.
What is the meaning of a "revolution", but to go once around and end up in the same place you started? "The Cross stands firm, while the world is turning." St. Bruno of Cologne Have a happy Good Friday!
Humanity is like the moon. While people say it's constantly changing it always remains the same moon. It waxes and wanes the change is only perspective. Depending on where you live it might appear different but it's still the same moon. This is society, this is history.
Wasnt he like imitating Hitler’s style of speech. Start off slow and calm and slowly start to shout and raise the voice. And also was this about warning of WW2 and not to repeat history such as WW1?
I would like to see Elder's React to this episode of College Kids React. Especially the Elder, whose name eludes me, who railed against artists getting "political."
while the great dictator is still relevant to day and considered a classic. I disagree with the notion that we haven't advanced. Violent crimes, genocide, poverty, starvation, disease and war are on a downwards trend and tolerance is on an upward trend.
I remember using this in a linguistics seminar for the art in speech-crafting. It's a wonderful piece that everyone needs to look at critically and use it to compare to modern day life.

Humans never really change. History always repeats itself
This speech that he did was wonderful and powerful. I listen to it all the time in hopes that we fight back.
Coldplay actually began their show with this speech and transferred into their first song. I started crying it was so beautiful
Every generation has too see this speech and learn of the good ole Chaplin.
Hitting right before the end? WW2 started in 1939 this was almost at the very beginning (1940) not right before the end (which is even more astonishing)
Wow Hilter’s speech translated to English makes me understand how he came to power... 🤫
This is the greatest speech of all time. This speech is just as timeless as most Disney or Pixar movies. And I think we need more of these strong messages in movies today.
Rudy Hernandez true
We watched the great dictator and talked about this speech in history class in 9th grade (Germany). I can remember vividly how touched I was by that and I'm happy, that through FBE kids are being exposed to this speech again
This speech actually got me to look up Charlie Chaplin and I researched him for like 3 hours.
People look at their opposition and apply these words to them. They point out how they are "machine men" but we have to look to ourselves and judge us aswell.
Carl Sagan 'little blue dot' would be a good follow up for this
If Ethan was there, he would say - It did not make me feel anything at all.
he is there
Not that Ethan, the other Ethan!!

78 years after "The Great Dictator," we still got work to do...
How?
The Great Dictator is in my top ten films list. I encourage those who reacted and those in the comments to watch it. If I remember correctly from Chaplin's autobiography, that particular speech came from the heart. It's a fantastic movie, a comedy but with a powerful speech.
Something my 87 year kid grandpa has always told me was "if we dont learn from our past we are doomed to repeat it". We both share a love for history, and just my opinion I dont think our entire society has learned the history of the mistakes made back then, and that why nothing has changed because we keep repeating our mistakes.
The time when people started laughing at Politicians and listen to comedians. Greatest speech
I watched this film in it's entirety several years ago, definitely one of the best films ever made.
For thousands of years we have been the same, this speech will always be relevant till the end of time
Wow, great choice to react to this speech! I'm glad you are having college kids react to older but timeless quality content. More like this, please!
Charlie Chaplin was a very wise man. Making people happy and laugh is far tougher and harder than making people sad and cry. It needs sharp and powerful mind. Rest In peace Charlie Chaplin
You have right.I wish you all the best.
Not only would you get the speech in its full context, you'd get to watch arguably Charlie Chaplin's greatest film.
when u get a burger king ad in the middle of the speech
It is sad that this speech resonates so well today , because it means that we are all tangled in the chains of the oppression that his speech is addressing.
This is honestly my most favorite speech ever, I was really surprised to see this as a video!
I love this community so much for requesting that
Whenever i listen to this speech on motivational videos i get chills ...
EDEN TWIN same
When he talks about “machine men” he’s talking about the military who are men who take orders without thought. The military are the “machine men,” it’s not that civilians get subdued into being machines.
I mean yeah he does say "soldiers!" at first
It's all people. Soldiers and civilians are all people. It was just military the beloved in hitlers words. It was the people.
It will always apply to each generation, because humans wax and wane but never really change.
Our lives are too short; our capacity to maintain a wide perspective and sense of historicity suffers for it, in spite of all the knowledge we constantly hoard.
What is the meaning of a "revolution", but to go once around and end up in the same place you started?
"The Cross stands firm, while the world is turning."
St. Bruno of Cologne
Have a happy Good Friday!
Humanity is like the moon. While people say it's constantly changing it always remains the same moon. It waxes and wanes the change is only perspective.
Depending on where you live it might appear different but it's still the same moon. This is society, this is history.
This speech is timeless, everyone needs to hear this.
Wasnt he like imitating Hitler’s style of speech. Start off slow and calm and slowly start to shout and raise the voice. And also was this about warning of WW2 and not to repeat history such as WW1?
Oh nvm the fun facts state it lmao
Btw Teens react to SoNevable or Launchpads(Novation)
That speech almost brings tears to my eyes every single time.
"History Will Repeat It's Self"
I would like to see Elder's React to this episode of College Kids React. Especially the Elder, whose name eludes me, who railed against artists getting "political."
while the great dictator is still relevant to day and considered a classic. I disagree with the notion that we haven't advanced. Violent crimes, genocide, poverty, starvation, disease and war are on a downwards trend and tolerance is on an upward trend.
EricArgyris that’s exactly what I was thinking during this video
It is cynicism speaking
Also the whole not having another world war in over thirty years thing is pretty friggin sweet.
Yes, as there are still wars and murders and such. but the overall trend is a more peaceful humanity as a whole, not less.
I remember using this in a linguistics seminar for the art in speech-crafting. It's a wonderful piece that everyone needs to look at critically and use it to compare to modern day life.
