Tatiana de Rosnay's book is vey good! She does no sensationalize her subject and gives a great insight into Daphne du Maurier's character. My Cousin Rachel with Rachel Weisz is brilliant, she is such a great actress.

The King's General is probably my 3rd favourite Daphne du Maurier novel. The characters are great in it. My favourite is Rebecca! I DNFed The Loving Spirit... I'll be reading The Rendezvous this month!

I’m really excited for Daphne Du MauriMay - I’ve got 5 books lined up so far, including Rebecca’s Tale by Sally Beaumont and Daphne by Justine Picardie. I’m also planning on watching the interview with Daphne that’s on the iPlayer. Here’s to a great reading month 💗

Ahhh I love Daphers! House on the Strand is my second favourite DuMaurier, The Kings General is great and would also recommend The Parasites and The Flight of the Falcon for lesser known titles. The Margaret Forster biography is amazing too. So many great ones to choose from!

I've only ever read Rebecca (which I love!), but I'll be interested to hear what you think about the other books this month.
A couple of Spanish-language pronunciation tips: Spanish only has 5 vowel sounds, one for each vowel. If you've ever studied or sung something in Latin, the vowel sounds are the same in Spanish. If not, they are mostly the same as the "short" vowel sounds in English, except for 'i', which sounds like the long 'e' vowel. Also, the 'n' with the squiggle over it is a different letter called enye, and it is pronounced like 'ny'. So Cañas is pronounced like "CAHN-yahs".

I LOVED the whole Daphne du MauriMAY!! Classic. I read Rebecca for the first time last year and loved it. I picked up a copy of My cousin Rachel over the summer at a used book store this feels like a great reason to read it this month!

Rebecca is one of my favourite books. Also I used to live near Frenchman's Creek in Cornwall and loved to walk around there. Lovely area ❤️

This is totally inspiring, I think I’ll join in. I did like Mary Jane and am I confused in thinking she was an ancestor of Du Maurier?

I've been meaning to read The House on the Strand, not sure if I will get to it this month. My favourite so far is Jamaica Inn, "There is nothing so dangerous as a headstrong girl who knows her own mind". 😊

My top three in order are My Cousin Rachel, The Scapegoat and Rebecca. I also really liked The Parasites although it's been years since I read it. The House on the Strand sounds great, I'll have to give that a go. I remember one of her short stories that I read years ago really freaked me out - I think it was The Doll.

Hi so glad u r focusing on a favourite author of yours. I have a biography of her by Judith Cook who knew the author, pub in 1991. You've encouraged me to read her again and then there's the Colm Toibin book Simon Savidge's Mum loved and all those reading copies at work.....

Love this! I'm going to join you and read a du Maurier this month. Jamaica Inn is my all-time favourite book, followed by The Loving Spirit and The House on the Strand.
Have you seen the BBC adaptation of Jamaica Inn?

Good Luck with Daphne du Mauri-May. I would be interested to see what you think, if you ever get round to reading du Maurier's final novel Rule Britannia. It was written in 1972 and is a science fiction novel that begins with the economic disaster brought on by Britain's exit from the EEC (fore-runner of the EU).

There's the Rebecca sequel Mrs de Winter by Susan Hill. I think my favourite Daphne Du Maurier is The House on the Strand, and Rebecca.
