I like the protip of using make up brushes for drybrushing. I’d have considered running a couple of kebab skewers or cocktail sticks through the base into the ‘stone’. I’d be worried of snapping the stone off the base with rough handling otherwise.
The makeup brushes made a huge different for me on the terrain, plus the set I bought has lots of brushes of varying sizes, which is handy. I don't think you need any additional support on the connection, I tested with just hotglue and it took a lot of pressure to break it apart, the foam gave way before the glue did.
I love these simple builds. I'm definitely gonna try this one out.
