Brodie-Trendelenburg Test (examination of varicose veins)

The Trendelenburg test (Trendelenburg Sign) or Brodie-Trendelenburg test is a test which can be carried out as part of a physical examination to determine the competency of the valves in the superficial and deep veins of the legs in patients with varicose veins, and, therefore, is an integral part of examination of varicose veins.
Brodie-Trendelenburg test was originally described in the in 1846 by Brodie and popularized by Trendelenburg in 1891.
