Budget poles next perhaps
I was just saying this to my dad a few months ago....Most of our kit we had is from the early/mid 90s. Mix of Abu Garcia, Shimano, Daiwa rods paired with Daiwa Regal Z baitrunners.... Worked great for us and since we never needed to cast a lead all the way to the horizon, we never bothered replacing or upgrading anything because nothing ever broke.
We recently joined a new club a few months ago and were trying out one of their lakes with a friend. Our friend couldnt believe how old and heavy our kit was compared to his. His gear doesnt exactly cost the world either but his rods were so much lighter and thinner and 'flexible' than ours for the same length and test curve. While new kit is nice to have, we're not exactly running a marathon or long hike fully laden with fishing gear so everything being heavier didnt matter a whole lot.
Despite this - we've retired all of the old carp gear and refreshed it with Sonik rods and Shimano Baitrunner DL Reel's -- Nothing that breaks the bank but will still perform better than our dated equipment.
early Carbon fibre fishing rods of the 90s are quite a relic compared to todays ones.
I bought a Normark vantage machine rod in 1997 and I'm still using it today having no reason to replace it. It was pricey at the time but quality lasts.
Really like that the load is spread across the entire rod from tip to butt instead of just the top section doing all the work. What a great rod for 50 buff. Mind you , you can’t go wrong with Diawa these days they do quality at a good price
I have 3 pellet waggler and 9,10,11 fort feeder rods
Best budget rods on the market, great work Diawa
Have one and it's a great rod, caught a load on Tench and Hybrids on it.
Back in 1995 I tested a Daiwa Tornado-Z 13ft tod costing £54.99 for another magazine (sorry). It was a really good then and all carbon, but the reel was held on by the old two plastic loops and the rings weren't all lined like you find today.
Then in 2006 or 7 I tested another Daiwa rod, also priced about the same £50 mark, for an online magazine and the improvements were remarkable. Have to say, Daiwa have always done their best to offer decent quality at the best price for beginners and casual anglers.
Hi
What size is the landing net, that you have been using?
Thanks
Just got back into fishing, were can I get the rod? What's a good reel to go with it please?
They look like they are.nice little rods.
I just purchased the daiwa Ninja pellet waggler will this be good with carp I'm new into the game
Great video mark. But maybe pair it up with a similarly priced reel for a more realistic review next time.
Carbon technology has come along way now and fittings too.
I got 2 shuriken 11ft pellet wag rods for £16 each made by daiwa probably same blank
i have a ten footer soon as i got the cash Barry DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS YOUR NAME BUT LET ME GO WITH IT. Bless
Purchased today for £34.99 Angling direct
DPS = DEEP POSITION SEAT
Just purchased one to add to my Daiwa range of rods. Plus it is now £40. Unbelievable
Where didn't buy ?
Hi I've just bought the matchman is the top section supposed to be a different colour and texture than the blank because mine is, top section is grey and rough and the blank is black and shiny, thanks for your help take care, 👍
Yes. It's designed that way. The coating on the bottom section adds to the backbone of the rod and the lack of it on the top section helps keep weight and cost down. I have a few of these rods and I actually really like the two Tone 👍🏻
more like it . the prices of expensive poles is disgusting to pass on to the customer . needs exposing tbh
I'm not disagreeing with you but how do you mean? I personally think the superium range has brought this to light from what I've heard.
No way you can compare it with shimano x1.habe both.shimano is at another level
Am I the only stupid person who knows that graphite is 100% carbon - I do not understand the comment
You beat me to it. Graphite is the purest form of carbon. it is as you said, 100% carbon with nothing else added.
Carbon is a chemical element, whilst graphite is an allotrope of carbon.
@@Backs4more Yes but it is still 100% carbon as are diamonds
@@mbontekoe3358 that is a bit like saying pine and oak are wood.
Pine is a soft wood with an open grain and oak is a hard wood with a compact grain.
Both are wood, yes, but they have different properties.
Graphite is extremely brittle, and was used in the first “carbon” rods. We now use different modulus carbons that are more resistant to breaking.
@@Backs4more No it is not Pine and Oak are intrinsically of different compounds . But getting back to the quote in the film, he he compared graphite to carbon - so what did he mean as "carbon" in a fishing rod? pieces of coal?
50 still not best
Can get cheaper and better
what rod ???? what brand
