- The Thunderer has some of the scariest guns at T10. Incredible dispersion, a meaty caliber and a penetration value that is no joke. The only balancing factor is the squishy hull they are located on, but even that's not really THAT weak, leaving it a real powerhouse in the battle. As usual, you can find my complete build at the end.
If the Smolensk didn't exist, I'd straight up say "get this one". Now it's a debate. Can upload a game of Thunderer where I shoot almost nothing but HE (306k damage) if you guys want, the ship is fantastic with both shell types.

Well, damn here was me hoping the Flaming Potato King would solve the Thunderer vs Smolensk dilemma for me. Damn, does this mean I now have to think for myself? Nah, I'll just ask reddit, reddit's always right ;)
Based off this I would say you are actually leaning towards Thunderer, since it offers much the same benefits in terms of fun and strength, but it is much less problematic for the game's health.
Also interested in seeing the HE in action! Btw the faster heal cooldown might be worth mentioning?
Since this seems to be the best way to answer your question toward the end of the video and have you see it, I’m posting here.
The reason that the Thunderer has faster reload and traverse is that since the turrets are twins, so they’re actually lighter than the Conq’s triple turrets. This means with the same housing you can fit more reload equipment and the traverse motors are more effective than the heavier triple.

Completely fabricated by LittleWhiteMouse as a joke premium ship. I think it was just to scare people. She put it at tier IX and slapped some 457mm guns on it. Along with a very convincing "review" of the ship.
I guess WG saw this and was like "This is perfect!"

I laughed hard because dude sailed into that cap knowing full well that Flamu's Thunderer was sailing back and forth north of that cap. It's not like Flamu stopped shooting and disappeared for 5 minutes. He'd been shooting regularly showing where he was at. But NOOOoooo... DM rolls into the cap like there's no threat anywhere nearby.

For the turret traverse it's becuase the Thunderer has the Conq legendary built in. Same as the ruddershift, the difference is the Conq has to give up the concealment mod for those benefits, the Thunderer does not.

Have to admit, it is great to see reviews make a return. As long as he enjoys putting in the effort because safe bet UA-cam won't be paying out on it and working for free sucks when you don't enjoy it
Finally, Tier 10 Warspite! The dream!! (Btw Warspite pen doesn't seem that insane tbh, still sufficient with massive overmatching.
It's really the accuracy + hard-to-master but super effective plunging shells that strike the difference. )
This is sort of play style is something that I hope comes in a potential RN Battlecruiser line. I can’t wait to get this ship
Great assessment, Flamu. You got Thunderer's turning statistics right. They're listed as 820m in port, it's 930m in game just like Conqueror.
April WhiteMouse Is the maximum healing rate same as the Warspite? ie 0.6% per second?
@@Roytulin Yes. It's 0.6% per second for 28s. She has better damage queuing than Warspite though, sharing the same 60% of penetration damage (and 100% of fire, flooding and ramming damage), but Thunderer queues 33% of citadel damage instead of Warspite's 10%.

Almost, the Warspite still has the best secondaries and turning circle of any RN BB. The Conq and Thund turning circles are bugged while the secondaries are entirely cosmetic. But compared to the release version of the Conq? FAR closer to Warspite goodness.

Little commentary about gun reload of smaller vs bigger guns.
It actually isn't far fetched at all to have bigger guns reloading faster than smaller caliber ones - if the bigger ones are in twin turrets, and the larger ones in triples. Essentially and without going into quite extensive and complex explanations, yes, they are bigger guns, but you only need two shells per turret vs needing three (smaller, yet still huge) shells for the smaller caliber. It's only natural and easy to understand that handling 2 massive shells is quite less of an inconvenience than handling three smaller, but still massive, shells.
Hence the realism BS about this ship vs Conqueror doesn't come from the reload. It comes from somehow selling the idea that the same turret ring&barbette that can accomodate two 457mm guns (and their related equipment, gun handling mechanisms to elevate/depress the guns, reloading mechanisms, etc), can do the same with a turret housing three 419mm guns. That's BS to the max, and completely laughable. But the fact that a twin 457mm turret can reload faster than a triple 419mm gun one is not.
(for the sake of comparison and perception - The scharnhorst barbette&turret ring was just big enough, after some adaptation work, to accomodate a twin 380mm turret...while being designed for a 280mm triple turret. That's a whooping 100mm of caliber differential. And it's not as if the 280mm turret had been designed to be cramped or small, it was quite spacious for the caliber...and that turret ring and barbette still only could barely handle a twin 380mm mount. Compare that with this BS).
Compare the 100mm difference increase on the scharnhorst to the 38mm increase on thunderer?
WG never really care about hard facts from caliber and turret size. Just look up the Republique, 431mm in a quad turret and still only 24 seconds reload. It's a game after all and they have to make it fun to play. Most people wouldn't enjoy a game thats tied to the real facts of warships of these eras. Play War Thunder naval if i wanna have more realism.

Now just imagine getting so many broadside enemy in RL random matches, that alone (no matter the ship) is what I would want :O
honestly looks like a lot of fun, but I'm still not happy with the way WG is pumping out high Tier Premiums like it's nothing, a lot of which are straight up better than their tech-tree counterparts. T10 matches these days are packed with Premiums which easily get's annoying in my opinion
For that reason I've decided to stick with tier 7.

@@rokko1020 I think he meant gimmick ships like the smolensk..nowadays the game is to find the smolensk..and push him even at the cost of sacrificing one of your ships and killing him..luckily for me I'm from the SEA region..and not a lot of smolensk players know when to stop clicking..and get killed pretty easily..but the occasional good player pretty much brings tears to oppositions.
I like playing the Warspite. I just picked up the Thunderer this morning but didn't have the time to play a game. I can't wait to try it out, though I like ships you can push in with. I'll have to avoid doing that with this ship.

It's a huge advantage to something like a Republique which also suffers from its 32mm deck and doesn't have that insane ruddershift or stealth.

I would say that Worcester is at least as scary to this one as Smolensk... Smolensk, for all its good sides, cannot penetrate 32mm, and fires are not in and of themselves any worse to this ship than any other.
Wocester on the other hand, _does_penetrate 32mm of armor, which you have all over your body. That will melt you frighteningly fast.
I have no idea why you would skip IFHE on either
@@FlamingZombie626 Smolensk with IFHE penetrates 28mm of armor (21 mm without). Thunderer has at least 32mm everywhere except the superstructure, so IFHE would not help a Smolensk do more damage to Thunderer.

It’s super squishy and it’s main gimmick is fire which can be healed.
@@TheRobbiUno squishy only at Max range plunge...it does NOT get citadeled within direct arc range. THAT is the biggest issue imo, more than smoke and HE even, it NEEDS to be made more squishy if it stays as is, or nerf the gunpower, or the smoke.

This is a really good ship for a Battleship player that demands reliable gunnery above all else. Accurate guns, fantastic turret traverse. Slap MBM3 and you got 22.9 seconds reload. The AP is very useful and you still retain trade mark RN BB HE shells.
The guns, shells have an answer for everything.

I just got this ship and I must say that it is a ton of fun. My only regret is not getting it sooner.
me to..ill take it 2 days ago...its so fun to play with it...before that i take JB, then Smolensk, Georgia and now Thunderer....Georgia also is fun to play.....
Triple and Quadruple gun turrets tend to have a lower rate of fire compared to twins, even with smaller caliber, since everything is more growded, more complicated, more prone to malfunctions.
For example both, the Bayern and the Queen Elizabeth class using 15" guns had a higher, theoretical rate of fire, compared to the US standards built at the same time with 14" guns. In practice however, the ROF was around 1 per minute, regardless, because you have to observe were your shell land and adjust accordingly.
I pick this up today and got one match in it before I had to log off and it seems pretty cool, pulled my way in a win in random. I’ve been avoiding the royal navy battleships and heavy cruisers as the HE/Fire farming play style doesn’t really appeal to me. This ship seem pretty cool though so I had to snag one.
It always appears that Flamu gets all the broadsides available in game,that's true, can I suggest watching his BB positioning videos, I did I tried all went well and my score doubled that of previous games, also note his voice he likes this ship. Anyway ty for video seems like a great ship
11 citadels. Sweet mother of mercy. I think my max citadel count for one game is 3 and I think I've only managed that twice in almost 2 years of playing.
I think it sounds great. You must play safe but you can seriously punish mistakes - like that Des Moines.
One question about "how can it be faster when bullet bigger" stuff, well 2 barrels. Each one would weigh more but you have fewer guns. Also space, we know the kg5class battleship had gun issues and this was credited with the additional complexity of fitting 4 guns in a turret rather than two (i think nelson has similar issues). So for make-believe logic, you could argue, you are moving fewer if heavier shells with more space. (maybe the additional space allows for more crew to help maneuver the round or better lifting gear.

Love this ship 90 games in it and it just gets better and better I waited 3 plus years to break 300k in a game and that was bourgogne. I have now had 300k games twice in the last 5 days in thunderer. In fact after last night I now have the 17th highest damage game on the NA server in it 327,433 damage with 26 fires. You get nuclear HE use it set fires on everything you can. If cruisers close the distance switch to your 18 inch AP shells they over mach every part of them and you will delete them with out even trying. She has the same weakness of every french and British bb 32 mm every where including the deck which means yamato over matches your deck from any angle you can and will get CIT. Now go out there and tea bag someone.

That's less combined fire chance than the Conq and roughly equal to the 12 gun BBs. It's the HE alpha which is the main advantage, the blast zone is related to alpha so each individual shell can break AA and secondaries across a significant portion of a ship.

I wish matchmaking in World of Warships was such that same Tier ships would be put against eachother. Playing a Tier VI ship against quite a few Tier VIII ships is simply heartbreaking, more when carriers are there in the match. Although I have been able to citadel a Geogia in my Gneisnau, it still takes away the fun when I see higher Tier ships in the pre-match screen.
Would be more fun for Tier VI against Tier VI and so on for every Tier.
I wish this could happen.

Buuuut if you keep feathering the throttle, do not sail in straight lines and take note of smokes, you should be able to anticipate torpedoes pretty easily...

ehh, this thing is not good under focus so go to bb is kremlin, go to aggressive cruiser is either moskva or des moines depending on the map and player preference, go to dd w cvs included is gearing, kiting ship is hiv so yeah, prems are good for random farming but not anything competitive

@@jeremyjean13 eh citadel is as weak as any other t10 except zao, moskva can push into most things bow in and take it unlike hinden that gets chunked for 20k from front by kremlins. Also hinden ap is garbage, lowish pen and no improved pen angles mean dm demolishes it in cqc. Hinden is probably the weakest t10 ca rn
@@jeremyjean13 i have the yoshi and i think its brilliant at both offensive and defensive its got a fast health boost, always keep at an angle of 10-15° and you are fine also with the special modules it can hold its ground. Also has alpha HE which has a dmg of 5100 per shell and the accuracy is amazing it has one of the highest fire % rates in the game giving it nearly a fire every shot you shoot at 38% without flags. I also think the venezia is a mid range ship with the henri or des as assaulting cruisers as they have greater deflecting angles on there bows. I have so many ships and i think the yoshino is by far the best cruiser it just needs to swap out hydro for radar. Moskva sucks along with the smolensk.. if you wanna grind a decent bb then krem is the way forward

When the German BBs get their dispersion reworked, AA becomes a satisfying mechanic, the Japanese torpedo boats matter, and Hell freezes over.

He had enough time to slow down and still carry on in a straight line into the island rather than hitting the torp and using the island to stop 😂 didnt make sence but i bet the other guy who let thoughs torps off was pissed knowing he could of slowed or stopped! You dont cross the road without looking eachway lol
How does this ship compare to Slava in your opinion? Seems like the gun is really accurate, 1 less gun but higher caliber so arguably this is even more deadly against cruisers?
The Slava had 6 guns forward and awesome shell velocity so it was less lobbing floaty shells like the Thunder and more firing an ion cannon across the water water at something.
they are just making these ships strong and faster every time there is a new ship and soon enough your just gonna have ships that are old that not anybody is gonna want to play.

13:10 at this point you should have seen the friendly torps 10s ago and slowed down to full stop to avoid them. Basically what you did was catch one torp on purpose giving that friendly ship a pink name for the next 3 games threatening to get his accound banned.
Maybe now he'll pay better attention to friendly ships in the vicinity before he torp spams a low hp ship..lol
Interesting...but except for the comment about raised citadel, it seems, Flamu, that you disregard the rework to Conqueror (her heal actually heals a fair bit more citadel damage and her accuracy is better). I find Conqueror very consistent myself so long as I play smart and don't potato. Also the T10 Warspite comparision isn't quite accurate, since for T6 Warspite is ridiculously tough and agile, regens more along the lines of Conqueror than Thunderer, and actually has meaningful secondaries and can brawl.
But...since I am not even seriously considering Smolblap and already have a Legendary DM with Permanent camo, it'll either be Thunderer or Yoshino if I get enough coal before the update changes.

It may be an nice option for me when coupon is back .
So far fighting this thing has been a mixed bag. Maybe it's just the players but I consistently feel like I can easily farm them in my Ibuki and Yoshino. Occasionally you get a really good player but the range I have on the two makes it easy to counter snipe with HE. Maybe the players will get better but I have noticed just how squishy it it to farm.
Are you comparing the handling to the Legendary mod Conq or the non legendary mod Conq?

I am just sad wg butchered Hoods AA, sure the long range AA guns are quite good, but that's about it. nothing special from the UP AA MKI and no special def fire.
Even if the short range AA was buffed to the point where it is as powerful as Des Moines, they are the so-called, too late AA. Planes could just fly through the AA without getting destroyed. On the other hand, the long-range AA can destroy planes before they get close. Short range AA could be dodged entirely, but the long range cant
Problem with this ship though, when it comes to tanking, she doesn't cut it.

That's the trade off with this ship, the way you play "defensively" in this ship is to delete the enemy before they have chance to damage you....
And also those massive HE shells are the counter to the Kremlin's silly armour and HP pool....
The thing is since HE is so good. People will question why would I used AP instead HE since one salvo can do 10k and set people on fire all the time.

They don't know thunderer's accurated guns. I think these are most accurated guns in game. Velocity is good, good chance to penetrate angled citadels. These bullets can penetrate an angled kremlin citadel. Sooo, if you play with thunderer; you don't need full broadsides. And this ship extremely stealth. You can ambush to cruisers and other bbs with this. Because they don't wait you.

The reason why I said Ohio is a better comparison is because they're very similar to each other whereas Georgia is somewhat different and a tier lower.

After playing up through the Lion I have way more sympathy for the conq and thunderer hanging back...
HOWEVER! When it is a Conquerer/Thunderer as well as a full Secondary build GK, a hindenburg, a Halland, a des moines, all pushing because it was 6 v 5 on that flank and they killed three ships... And you're STILL sitting in the back trying to HE farm down a Kremlin who is maneuvering at max range?

So far I find this ship a bit disappointing nothing but overpens shatters and rickoshays ,but it’s only 5 games in her as of yet ,but still a let down
Why does WG insist on these shitty half-measures? We've been saying this literally since RN BBs were first announced, all you need to do is take Warspite, stretch it out in Photoshop, and adjust the damage, range, and health values for T10. You don't need 24km range, you don't need weird battlecruiser dispersion on 1.9 sigma, you don't need bullshit 70% fire chance 130 pen HE shells, you don't need some gimmicky hull. Instead WG insists on shoehorning its bullshit gimmicks onto bullshit hulls that are balanced with gimmicks that are in turn balanced with more gimmicks, and even when those gimmicks are somewhat good, instead of getting it in the main tree as an alt-T10, it's the most expensive coal ship in the game. It's like what, 240k coal? You'd need almost a year's worth of resource containers to get that... assuming of courses you get max resources each time.

@@jarrusjenkins I know but i still get trollish dispersion even at 8 kms, and at tier 8-10 getting closer to the enemy for long periods of time may not be the greatest strategy because of all the HE spam

@@thelvadam2884 what I meant is that Bismarck secondary build is not worth it at all with how inconsistent the secondarys are (how many shells you land on target) and that directly affect the alpha dmg and fire dmg. Look at GZ ability to land shells with the secondarys or the USN secondary viable BBs. I found way more success with a full stealth/tank build being able to survive for longer periods of time and also being able to hit more shells on target and not having to get in dangerous situations just to make use of secondarys because I've spent points on em. If at least we wouldn't have to face T10 when playing T8s... It's not balanced.

I found most success in the German Battleships especially Bismarck with as I said tank/stealth build and the stranger thing is that I had better scores usually when facing T9-T10. If you can make em work no matter the build I'd be happy to learn from you how to best play em.

Tell that to the Freisland. I flew a squadron of rocket attack planes near one yesterday and it all by itself melted the entire squadron in 2 seconds flat. AA at high tier is ludicrously off the charts yet ludicrously weak or non existent at the lower tiers. For cv players it is nothing but easy seal clubbing at the low tiers but a massive headache and stress inducing at high tiers. They haven't got the balance right for cv's at all. Literally can't defend yourself against cv's at the low tier but at high tier, ouchy mommer. Stand back and watch the planes melt. Even against single ships.
