Unless I missed it, the only thing you didn’t mention was your meter reading on the background light. Even with your key?

Yeah, ok, gear got nothing to do with it. Why not just use your phone?!

    • @VisualEducationStudio

Yes why not that's perfectly feasible especially if we used the continuous lighting mode but as these videos are for photographers who own and use cameras we make the videos to show how the same shot can be achieved across a range of cameras. In fact one of the cameras used here costs less than a smart phone.

@@VisualEducationStudio Portraits with an ultra wide lens on a tiny sensor of a phone is feasible? Alright, then. I don't know why you or others are even buying cameras. Just use your phone.

Not sure which 5d he’s using but if we’re talking a Mk 2 or 3, you’re talking about a camera body that can be had used either $295(mk 2) or $536(mk3) on KEH right now. The nifty 50 lens costs about 180-200. And for that you get a professional camera that can do excellent portrait and studio work.
I get that it always seems like pro photogs are spreading G.A.S. faster than a rumor in a small town, but this is a good example of technique and skill over gear.
