Thanks for posting this episode which is currently unavailable elsewhere on UA-cam. Interesting that your father a part of this very exciting and engaging episode, and in terrific audio/video quality with the original commercials no less. Its a shame he overbid, he would have had it in the bag no matter what he bid otherwise.
Yes, way back on Tuesday, March 1, 1988, "The Price Is Right" game show had Mr. Bob Barker[whose real 1st name's Robert] as its former host just as his previous announcer there was late Mr. Robert "Rod" R. Roddy!

Did this originally air on March 1, 1988, or was that the tape date? I ask because Frank Wayne (mentioned by Bob during the Ten Chances game) passed away on March 18, 1988.
Women in prison? Every time that comes up, it reminds me of the time around the summer of 1992 when myself along with every high school student from this job program visited this place in Niantic, CT. where I saw several actual female prisoners whom were serving time, some would be released by 1994 or 1995, each one told their story on how they got there and what it was like living in a prison. It was that moment in which I understood that there are kids that don't necessary live with their parents before they graduate. Instead, they live in boarding houses and group homes and such. It was such a scary experience to find that out, even someone who is already halfway through high school.

He went all the way to the *Showcase*, not the Showcase Showdown. The Showcase Showdown is where you spin the Big Wheel for a spot in the Showcase. The Showcase is where the contestants bid on Showcases. Why do people keep confusing them?

It wouldn't be long after this episode aired that Bob would become the executive producer of the show

I never knew the WIN tag in Five Price Tags was blue back in '88. Nowadays, it's red.
15:27 Bodie Jones, Come On Down You Are The Next Contestant On The Price Is Right!
Even though he fell short of his goal. Hope he had a blast when he was there.
RIP Bob Barker.
Talk about a difference in the value of one showcase vs the other

And when Annie and another woman were celebrating after winning the Jeep, all Bob could say was, bemused, "We'll see what happens during this."

The price of the day bed that was not shown in the third pricing game was $1570.
I miss Credit Card 💳 and they should bring it back one day .😀👍
That play of Ten Chances was almost as bad as the infamous dolt from 2006 who won Ten Chances on the last try and almost gave Bob a stroke!
