Women looked great in the 80s.
Long hair and they took care of it. Not all covered with tattoos. The cars were interesting, not the wind tunnel clones we have now. Even the music of the '80s was better. We listened to actual nice stereos instead of Bluetooth speakers. Not much about right now is better than the '80s. I want to go back

The Price Is Right on prime-time it had to be the mid 1980s when something was this great..now all you see is pollution on TV during prime time and it's been that way since the 1990s

Between 1986 and 1987 I was at a rehabilitation center and we weren't allowed to watch TV except for the news. It's nice to see what I missed. Thanks for sharing.

BTW, some interesting bit of trivia: All 6 primetime specials were taped over a three-day period in July 1986, from July 7 to July 9 (two on each day).

That was great seeing her win $11,000 at the wheel. Hilarious also how she was hugging Bob and jumping up and down. She was a very pretty young lady with great hair.

Did they ever find Robert Wayne Connelly? That sent me on a google rabbit hole with no results.

Yes they did but unfortunately he became a career criminal in Florida dating back to at least 1992, being in and out of prison for drug possession, burglary, grand theft and escape. In 2003 he was convicted of burglary with assault and battery and was actually sentenced to life in prison where he remains to this day.

I believe the only time GSN ran the 1986 primetime specials was in Labor Day 1997, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the current version of TPIR.

They've been doing them off and on since this batch of six were taped in 1986. It took them 10 years to do another one, though.

The specials tried to compete in ratings with "The Cosby Show" and "Family Ties" from August-September 1986. They failed.

You were at a center for NINE YEARS?!?!
And to boot, they wouldn't let you watch any shows on the Television that you already explained you clearly had there in this Center, what, they just wouldn't spring for the cost of cable and you only got one OVER-THE-AIR channel (Rabbit Ears Antenna) or something?
You'd think a center that keeps, well, I may as well say it, because obviously you weren't allowed to leave.....
.... that keeps INMATES upwards of 9+ years and it sounds like a fair amount of these entertainment deprived captives could have been a part of the general count of people living there.
God dang! Give em something to do!
Sounds like an absolute awful place to be at, rehabilitating or not, unless of course it's what I think it is, some sort of sex jail for men that won the right to not go to a real jail at sentencing but instead got to go to a "Center" for an indeterminate amount of time, until the staff, Doctors, Psychologists and others, determine one is ok for day trips away from the "Center", then eventually leading to a complete discharge or parole as some would call it.
Sure sounds like a full fledged Sexual Predator Rehabilitation Center to me, one that inmates get to go to when they win the right at sentencing in court when a sympathetic or pathetic Jury "feels" for the SEX CRIME prisoner before them that they must send either to a full jail or prison, or consider the accused and his Lawyer's request for a "Psychological Assessment" because the now found guilty accused person (with ample proof) wants to get an easier "go of things" and plead "Mental".
