    Nice set up , very much like mine, 4 foot deep 6 foot wide and 12 long, but I do have a shelf around with two sand filters with k one , and I have made the seam nets has you , so we have much the same in set up , I even have the same carbon water top up, well done mate ,

      @@koipond6266 Thank you for the comment and taking the time to watch my video. I do wish I had put some type of shelf in the pond so I could have had the plants in the pond. That’s why I added the veg filter so I could have some plants in the pond because in the past I had the floating baskets but was forever picking the fish out of them every morning haha. I will call over and take a look at your pond
      Thanks again Paul

    Yes just listening to you about the air pump, I have mine on a timer switch 10 mins on 5 off ten back on, and so on, seams to work for me,

    • @ThePBWay
      @ThePBWay  3 місяці тому

      @@koipond6266 I am going to do it so it goes off 5 mins before I go out to feed them. So will have it maybe 5 times a day to work with my work commitments.
      My problem with having it off to long the bottom drain doesn’t work as it should. That’s why I have 2 air pumps if I try to run the pond and filter on one air pump. Then the bottom of the pond just ends up full of fish poo. So having the air pumps off for too long doesn’t work for my pond 👍🏻

    Very nice. Pretty similar to what I have, though you've got much nicer valves than mine.
    I used kockney koi for the big valves and never again, they're so stiff I need to use a lever to open and close them. Next summer they're out and being replaced with something better.

    • @ThePBWay
      @ThePBWay  3 місяці тому

      @@SkyOctopus1 Thank you for your comment. I have used the Kockney koi valves for my returns to the veg filter and pond. I 100% agree with you they are a nightmare to open and close. I will be replacing them at some point as I am always worried they will snap my pipe work that’s connected to them

    • @steveneveritt4871
      @steveneveritt4871 3 місяці тому +1

      Have you tried unscrewing the kockney koi valve unions and applying a small amount of silicone grease or similar to the 'ball' to help free them up a little, they do need to be tight to form a seal, I used the push pull wedge valves, big mistake as they never really sealed! Ended up s/w an end cap to the end of all my barrel waste drains as a fail safe!

    • @ThePBWay
      @ThePBWay  3 місяці тому +1

      @@steveneveritt4871Thanks for the comment I haven’t tried that. Like you say they need to be tight but these are stupidly tight. I am going to stick some proper ball valves on when I move my nexus once the outbuilding is knocked down. I can then replace them as I will have to replace the pipe work anyway as the nexus will be around another 7 ft away from the pond.
      Thanks again Paul

  • @steveneveritt4871
    @steveneveritt4871 3 місяці тому +1

    When i kept koi, I built a 4 X blue barrel multi bay filter that was exposed outside, during hard winters ( - 10 c or below ) due to reducing the pump flow in winter, I suffered the fate of transfer pipe freeze up, ( I couldn't afford a pond heating system! ) nearly lost all my fish! Just keep that in mind when considering changing your filters position to an external location, wish I was able to have had my filter and 'bulk' pipework and valves safely in a luxurious garden building!

    • @ThePBWay
      @ThePBWay  3 місяці тому +1

      @@steveneveritt4871 When I move the filter I will build some kind of filter house again. Yes can’t beat the peace of mind with it all being undercover. Never had a issue with the cold weather luckily
