I started with a 3/4" 38" PE hoop and after a couple months I bought a 35" ID (so basically a 36") polypro. I use both! Now I'm wanting a much smaller polypro to do more off body. Hoops are like tattoos, u always want more. Atleast for me anyway :)

thanks for this!!!! love your hoops^_^ I started when someone gifted me a 36 inch polypro! I still use it, but recently downsized to a 32 inch and it fits better with my faster flow

Don't be afraid to fail. Just try it and don't give up. I started 1 month ago and have already seen progress, slow progress, but progress nonetheless. I am also plus size.

I started this year with a 31 inch 5/8 polypro. Im still adjusting but I already like the weight/feel vs 3/4 polypro.

I generally hoop with 33" taped PE hoops that I made myself. I also have a couple of 35" PE hoops, and a super large 48" collapsible hoop just for fun. I am looking into getting an LED this spring.

I usually use my 32 inch aqua polypro! but sometimes I use my 35 inch clear polypro when I want to slow things down, or I'm learning a new trick :)

Hi Taylor, I have a clear polypro and supposedly it weighs only 6-10 ounces. How much does your hoop weight for tricks. I have a weighted one, but want to do tricks and find it heavy, but now I find this polypro too light. I'm wondering if I just need to get used to that of if adding tape to it would help? Thanks.

Hey! For Austrian people I can warmly recommend hoopdancevienna for getting a (travelling) Hoop! The creator builds Hoops out of PolyEthylen and fits them to your body size, so you have the perfect hoop special for you. You can also have a nice chat with her, in case you are seeking for something more than a beginner hoop.
    I have mine from her.
However thank you Deanne for your insights and videos, love them!!

I have a huge question about travel hoops. I can't find a travel hoop that is collapsible like pink one you were holding. All travel hoops are sectional and its not what I want. I want a pink one just like yours. Please fill me in on where I can get one.

I just checked out your instagram to see the hoops pic you were talking about. Love it! Your most recent pic with the warrior braids is fantastic. Would love to see that tutorial or vlog of it.

I use a very large and heavy HDPE tubing hoop and it is extremely hard to progress bc I can't do certain tricks or I'll hurt myself. I have absolutely no idea what type of hoop I should get next as a transition to poly pro or if I should just jump in and get a polypro.

How long have you practiced with the big hoop? Like were you able to learn all the basic stuff with it?

Flames 'N Games on Amazon (both US and UK) have great beginner hoops.
A bit about me... I literally just started hooping this week and started off for the first 2 days with a 1kg weighted bumpy one as I thought they were supposed to be good. But nope, absolutely stay away from those! They are painful to use and hard to keep up. I returned that hoop after watching videos like this one and now have an 100cm/39" 640g weighted travel hula hoop from Flames 'N Games store. Another professional hooper on UA-cam recommended this exact hoop and it is amazing! Like, I was successful with this hoop on the first go whereas the bumpy one was so hard to use. I paid £23.95 for it. Hope this helps.

You suggested in another video the hoop to weigh about 1.1 lbs. If I add tape to my hoop, which is a polypro that only weighs 6-10 ounces, will that increase the weight of my hoop? Or should I get a hoop that actually weighs 1.1 pounds? Thank you.

    • @DeanneLove
      @DeanneLove  7 років тому

Yes tape can def add weight! What did you decide? Got a new hoop??

I am an amateur though. I have been just hooping waist, have been able to add some tricks in now. I always used a weighted hoop, and now have a 3/4 inch polypro. Seems harder to do than my weighted. I appreciate that video you made on your 10 minute test on each. I can totally get why you would burn more calories with a lighter one. I appreciate you answered me very much, thank you. Right now, I'm getting organized after hurricane Irma, but I have been working on isolation's, even during the hurricane!

I just got my first adult size hoop and it's beautiful, but too big to learn most of the tricks :( I also have two 75 cm hoops, but I probably need something in between :)

Ok this might be a dumb question but...WHERE do I buy one? I've looked online but everyone says not to buy it before you try it (to make sure you get the right size). So where can I go to buy an actual hula hoop (not just a play one from walmart)???
