2Faded247 Trivia note: Hammers management company was credited as He's management in the credits of PEACEFUL JOURNEY. Just in case you didn't know already.
Im so lucky and glad I got to see Hammer in Nashville at his best...even touched him as they walked him around..NOTHING beats the music from 80s and early 90s..NOTHING!!!!
M.C. Hammer's energy was on another level. I used to dance my ass off before gangsta rap made it uncool to look and dance like him. The irony of this is M.C. Hammer was actually more gangsta than a lot of the gangsta rappers out there.
Alll facts! I spent most of my summers in Oakland where Hammer is from. He promoted this song himself out of his car. Being that he’s from East Oakland he was a beast when he was “getting started”.
Omg! I haven't seen this clip in years! This had to be in '88-89! I was in high school then! RIP Heavy D! The love between east and west coast rap was so evident then..
He did some of those things and got called a sell out,ex-Pepsi,KFC,Taco Bell,British Knights,The Mc Hammer doll from Mattel. These things rappers dissed him about what they tried to do themselves,Hammer was way ahead of his time.
@@notynoty7526 I love hammer to death, but when he dropped the mc from his name and did interviews trying to distance himself from jus being a rapper , that's when everybody felt he sold out
But one thing about it ..they might’ve called him a sellout but from an account from Redman and LL they recall although he was considered a “happy rapper” you better not cross him bc despite all the dancing and suits brother would get dwn and beat the hell outchea lol 🤣😍🙌🏾
Oh my goodness! What memories. I was obsessed with Heavy D and Mc Hammer, and I totally remember this episode of the Robert Townsend show. Good times. I loved Hammer's dancing and fun lyrics, and who doesn't love an "overweight lover"? Heavy D - yesssss.
MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!! I remember this show right here! We was in my grandma house dancing our heads off when this came on. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYAAAH BOYEEEEEE!
3rd Base did diss Hammer, Hammer was even asked in a interview about the diss, Hammer told the interviewer, 3rd Bass wasn't even worth mentioning because his groups like Oaktown 3.5.7. and B. Angie B. sold more records than 3rd Base!
I was a toddler when this came out but my Ftaher taped it and I watched it MANY times growing up. I even remember the comics on the show were Ronaldo Reys, Louis Dix, and another guy who did the Chinese Kung Fu theater thing on the cosby show one episode.
They still have some of those videos on UA-cam . The show was called Robert Townsend ' Partners in crime. I recorded it on vhs back in the day. It may be available on DVD. Very funny till this day.😂😂😂
These types of performances had us in front of the television as kids, i as 10 years of age at this time. I would give anything to relive these moments.
this came on late last night lol. fuck what people say about him, hammer was the man. the butt of everybody's jokes but what he did and was shunned for, rappers are now trying to do(dolls, commercials, cartoons etc.). He held it down for the town and went broke helping the hood and was a hell of a performer as you can clearly see(he may actually be lip syncing during this performance). Bottom line Hammer was that dude, he layed the ground work. PAY HOMAGE, LET'S GET IT STARTED!
I have this on VHS somewhere...awesome!!!!Terrible T and Sweet LD...Have mercy fine!!!Saw them perform in Dallas summer 1990@Reunion Arena...I've never screamed for no women in my live at a show but I had to let it out
All of east coast and west coast wasn't beefing. This made my heart happy because back then it was east vs west. But these two were like nope ❤️❤️ two amazing performers.
Yo....I've been looking for this footage for years.... I was like 8 when this aired on robert townsends partners in crime on hbo....this is classic....I also remember when Bobby Brown was on there
The only clip better than this was when heavy performed "In Living Color" at the beginning of one of their episodes. He killed it there too! S.I.P Hev!
Hammer & his posse was all that and really underrated or wayyyyyyyyy ahead of their time….. We have to appreciate these moments…. Great memories because I had the gear like that when I was stationed in Germany in the late 80’s going into the early 90’s
While I'm watching I'm thinking. ..how the HELL did this guy go broke. Energy drinks, exercise videos, clothes... there was NOTHING he could do to stay afloat? ????
I get that hip hop heads, especially New Yorkers, want to talk about lyrics only, but no rapper was better than Hammer. That's right, I said it. R.I.P. Biggie.
I hate to say it like this cause it shows my Era. But this ish was "TOO HYPE" 😂🤣 Cool clean music without disrespect! EVERYONE WORKED, DANCED AND GOT ALONG TOGETHER! NO KILLING!!!!
Hammer was no joke , I don't care what people say
There hasn’t been a hip hop PERFORMER like him since.
Damn right don't no one out right now got Hammer kind of hype lol

This is lit. Straight entertainment all these years later.
Heavy D making an appearance at the end!
M.C. Hammer's energy was on another level. I used to dance my ass off before gangsta rap made it uncool to look and dance like him. The irony of this is M.C. Hammer was actually more gangsta than a lot of the gangsta rappers out there.

He did some of those things and got called a sell out,ex-Pepsi,KFC,Taco Bell,British Knights,The Mc Hammer doll from Mattel. These things rappers dissed him about what they tried to do themselves,Hammer was way ahead of his time.
Exactly. He was ahead of the game. They need to put some respect on his name, for real.
@@notynoty7526 I love hammer to death, but when he dropped the mc from his name and did interviews trying to distance himself from jus being a rapper , that's when everybody felt he sold out
He was also a sellout cause his songs got even whacker. "Adams family" and "pray" were horrendous
But one thing about it ..they might’ve called him a sellout but from an account from Redman and LL they recall although he was considered a “happy rapper” you better not cross him bc despite all the dancing and suits brother would get dwn and beat the hell outchea lol 🤣😍🙌🏾
Waiting on that time machine

The energy from just *ONE* M.C. Hammer performance could power a city for 10 years. That man was something else.
This is the hip-hop I grew up on and I'm still rocking to both Heavy and Hammer today!

That was dope!
I still love MC Hammer! damn what 3rd Base or those other clowns thought of him.
3rd base didn't like Vanilla ice. They ain't have a problem with hammer.
3rd Base did diss Hammer, Hammer was even asked in a interview about the diss, Hammer told the interviewer, 3rd Bass wasn't even worth mentioning because his groups like Oaktown 3.5.7. and B. Angie B. sold more records than 3rd Base!
Jealousy
The beef between Hammer and 3rd Base was very real. It got to the point where it was deeper than rap.
3rd were wanna be studio gangsters. Hammer and his brother had them clown shook
Robert Townsend had a show!
And I missed it!!??
I was a toddler when this came out but my Ftaher taped it and I watched it MANY times growing up. I even remember the comics on the show were Ronaldo Reys, Louis Dix, and another guy who did the Chinese Kung Fu theater thing on the cosby show one episode.
