I also remember back in 1.3 that mighty wind seemed a lot more common. You never got a sandstorm when you wanted it, but it always found a way to start whenever you wanted to travel through the desert, make a build, fight a boss...
The normal desert theme was so weird to hear back then. The desert was almost always a sandstorm, so the desert was honestly the hardest biome to get by. Angry tumblers were horrific demons, speeding over to feast on their pathetic, entrapped meal.
not only was mighty wind a lot stronger in 1.3 but i remember sandstorms being a lot more frequent; idk if this was actually the case or i just got really unlucky for like, a year straight but it felt like there was constantly a sandstorm, and any time it stopped it would start a few minutes later. made exploring like, half the overworld basically impossible without any movement accessories :/
This might sound a little weird but I am very thankful your channel exists, I just love your insight into seemingly insignificant terraria topics and break downs of less known mechanics Thank you for continuing to make this content, it's really unique! 👍
I actually quite liked the nuisance of the might wind. Properly timing my jumps or using the wind to move quickly away from enemies early game felt kinda nice. Also, I would love to see a boss fight where a stronger form of mighty wind pulls the player towards the boss passively while the boss has very slow vertical movement.
It really sucked mid/late prehardmode, though. At that point, there wasn't any challenge since the mobs died quickly and from range, so it was annoying.
Nah. The standard unit for acceleration is metres per squared second; any form of speed over unit of time is valid for it because that's just how acceleration is calculated.
Could you do a video on how the tax collector works? Would be interesting to watch since it’s obscure relatively speaking and not really understood fully by many.
You should do a follow up to this video that talks about the maximum force exerted by mighty wind, where you pit its pushing power against a terrarian with maxed out mass (full heavy inventory)
This makes me wonder. How would mod with the terrible decisions (like the wind from 1.3 and other horrible mistakes) would look like. I don't know all the bad decisions, maybe something with lightning and other things that would be just visual and movement, nothing around drop rates or doing stuff to weapons.
Can you please expand the topic and explain what force it has? For calculation use an inventory full of thrones (made out of gold) and a full gold armor in all 3 sets including a gold watch each we now one gold ore is 1 tile big and we can use gold to meassure how heavy the terrarian is and then we can see how strong the wind is if we only calculate the simple surface for the terrarian as impact surface
OK, so it WAS stronger before. I thought I remembered it being harder to navigate in sandstorms back when I first started playing, but I wasn't sure if my memory was off, or I just got better at the game, or if the wind got nerfed.
i was kind of hoping that this would be about the physics of the mighty wind debuff though now that i think about it that would probably be kind of boring
i strive to one day be able to yap for an entire 4 minutes about wind in a pixel game and i dont mean any of this in a bad way i hate when i have to write about my own opinion or make a 300 word essay
Sure. The wind is hard. But what's even harder is the enemies it brings along. Shoutout to angry tumblers for single handedly ruining players' lives.
but not as hard as some people when the sand elemental spawns
Real
@@Man_Person_Best_Hero you are disgusting for commenting this, please delete
@@Man_Person_Best_Hero those gals truly save runs. Like, I cannot live without forbidden armor as a mage
I’m even harder tho 😈

1.3 console players having PTSD of the 10x more often sandstorms
If it can push someone with armor made from the sun, it gotta be pretty powerful.
i thought this was gonna be a meme calculation like the "how strong is steve if his inventory is all shulker boxes filled with gold blocks" videos
It took me way too long to notice the Mighty Wind debuff icon was two gusts of wind, I always saw it as a gloved hand with the palm face up
yea i still see it as a hand
certainly hard enough to push you
They just like me fr...
facts 🗣️
:3
Even with the heaviest item holded in terraria?
No shit..
* Insert that meme when there's a guy with a cellphone being pushed by a tornado or something *
I love getting hit by Tumblers flying at 150mph
...and I love Dune Splicers rocketing out of the sand to devour me.
The Desert. You gotta love it.
they remind me of dead cells Buers kinda
Imagine a "sand in your eye," debuff that brings back the 1.3 wind

It was almost always a sandstorm. The antlions and tumblers barreling towards you always signaled your end.

I've got a video topic for you.
Can you do a video on how exactly smart curser works?
Eg. Placing blocks vs platforms or digging

Miles per hour per second is something new...
Damn

@@71507 oh that's right, thanks for telling me. I just never though of using 2 different time measurement units. Guess it's not something new
@@Meowlegend7ayoo look who's here
@@VortexF yea, Meowlegend
i love that in terraria the wind's direction actually matters, it helps game feel so much, unlike starbound where desert wind is just a speed debuff
Bro could have had "how hard does the mighty wind *blow you* " as the intro, but didn't let the intrusive thoughts win
Could you do a video on how the tax collector works? Would be interesting to watch since it’s obscure relatively speaking and not really understood fully by many.
Honestly I'm just happy that it isn't like a 99% chance for a sandstorm to happen like 1.3. Kinda glad it became more reasonable.
Well a mighty wind's a'blowin, it's kickin' up the sand, it's blowin' out a message to every woman, child and man
Now we need to know how powerful the wind needs to push a terrarian with a full inventory, and how fast the wind needs to be to push them.
You should do a follow up to this video that talks about the maximum force exerted by mighty wind, where you pit its pushing power against a terrarian with maxed out mass (full heavy inventory)
Nice video! Keep up the good work!
You should calculate how strong the terrarian is to create a sonic boom with the morning star
the song Into Free pops in my head any time wind is mentioned
I actually remember having that issue with wind, early game desert runs were always stupid
Terasteel never fails to keep the voices at bay ☺️
Yup Hard enough to push you into the Sand tornadoes of the Elemental and the mouth of that big Worm

How bad would it be in real life tho?
Its sad that i forgot about this when im in the desert
Okay but now calculate how much force it's exerting on the player who may or may not have an inventory of gold bricks
good vid as always
how mighty is the powerful wind
i like your funny numbers math man
Seems like a bad idea to hold an umbrella there...
How powerful is considering max weight?
not as mighty as my dad's belt when I tell him I'm done getting him beers
Sorry to bother you... I have seen that weapon that glow your hand, could i know from what mods is it?
It's Dark Artist's Robes. You can buy it from tavernkeeper after beating lvl3 old one's army (or just after beating golem idk)

How strong would terraria mighty wind, in real life?
now calculate how strong it would be irl if a player's inventory is filled with platinum thrones :)
you don't miss
But how powerful is it compared to a Real life Sandstorm?
Very painful.
Wind.. 🤤
True 😳
woosh 💨💨
yeah first babay
Nuh uh
50 second ago?????
Ah, mighty wind. My least favorite part of exploring the desert in the early game.
But that's just a theory!
I miss you Matt patt :(
Me too!
Stronger than Kratos

damn ok
Sockrteez and Terrasteel should do a collab
No
Wearing cactus armour instead of using an invisibility potion for the end screen is a neat little touch i gotta say
am I the only one who keeps seeing the debuff as a gloved hand or a bone hand
