- Nicole and Hennepin County Attorney's Office Facility Dog Barrett today won a well-deserved county-wide People First Award today recognizing their purposeful work committed to serving residents.
Along with working full-time as an assistant county attorney, Nicole is the primary handler for Barrett, training and caring for the therapy dog. Barrett has met with more than 100 victims and staff. He helped with his first jury trial early this year, supporting a juvenile victim of criminal sexual conduct.
“Nicole does everything in her power to accommodate victims and employees who are requesting time with Barrett, even if it means rearranging her schedule, and making time for last minute requests. Despite the added pressures to her life and work, Nicole does this because Barrett's work is very important and meaningful to her. Barrett would not be the dog he is without Nicole, who through this work, demonstrates compassion, kindness, and her dedication to Hennepin County,” said the colleague who nominated Nicole and Barrett.
Nicole is one of many people at the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office who deserve recognition for their commitment to the important and often difficult work we do here. Please join me in congratulating her and Barrett!
