Ah no, and it wasn't my amp, and buddie has long since flipped it.
I'll keep that in mind tho, thanks !

Ken Fischer used solid core wire... something to do with inductance

Perhaps, but I highly doubt Marshall did for that reason.

the 4210 circuit was changed in 84 or 85.

Seemed to me like they had diff circuits for the combo and head, then at some point, jsut used the same in both. I guess the 4210 I found was the earlier circuit ?

If you pull v2 and lose the boost channel, you have the early version. Had less gain on the boost channel and the normal channel had more headroom on the early version.

@@JamieReid-j6e Oh my, the boost channel on this has technically very little gain to begin with.

Agreed! If you can figure out a simple way to get more out of it let me know 😉. I’m on the verge of selling mine.

@@JamieReid-j6e Overdrive pedal, done. It's almost like people don't know about them. I blame the pedal industry, cause there is not consistency with pedal naming and lots of people make distortion pedals and call them overdrives.
      Try a tube screamer.

Did you have it running with no speaker in ??

      @toastedphantom3007 7 місяців тому +1

That's not very dangerous without an input signal, or better yet a shorted input. But yeah in case it oscilates it would be better to have a speaker attached.

It's generally ok to power an amp with no speaker, and with no input.
You only damage the amp if say, for forget to plug in the cab, then plug in your guitar, turn it up, and start to go.
However, I do often have the amp plugged into a cab I have hiding under the workbench when I'm working on them.

The rivet from the feet´s connected to the taper of the potentiometers became loose. Typical fail on those amps. Just saying... ;-)

"rivet from the feet´s connected to the taper of the pot" ?
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Can you elaborate ?

@@DATT the three legs on the potentiometers are riveted to the taper contacts . Those rivets get loose and the contact gets intermittent. Use a very small rivet tool (small pin punch one flat one conical). Span one tool in the vice and tap the rivets carefully with a small mallet. Use high quality contact or corrosion cleaner and let it soak between the contact surfaces before you do this. - Vintage pot saved!

@@MrJLobster Oh ok yeah, I know what you're talking about now.
Yeah, I didn't think to look at those that time, I should of, nothing seemed loose. But yeah, I've tapped those tight before.
