Hi guys! Short one today; we are painting Justin's truck tonight! I figured it was a good day to start up the 1972 Chrysler Newport Royal 4 door Hardtop and see if she was good to go for another winter... Myles, Ash and I are joined by Miss Frankers for a little test drive to put in some gas and I think she's ready to go! Calendars are sold out; thanks so much to everyone who ordered one... they are being shipped now!

As someone living in the EU, I find these old fashioned American luxury cars endlessly fascinating being so low, long and sleek. In particular this one almost reminds me of an extraterrestrial spaceship landed on Earth especially with those rear lights!
I'll second that! I was happily surprised to get mine since I had thought I had let the chance pass me by. One of the benefits of losing one's marbles in old age.
Reminds me of my best beater. 73 satellite, 2 door, 318, with the factory chrome package under the hood. When I bought it for 200 bucks it had 4 different size tires on it and was 3 different colours. It might have been cool if I put some work into it but it was bought as a beater. I put 4 tires that I already had, painted it flat black with spray cans and I think I drove it for 5 or 6 winters. best thing about it was it always started, probably because of low compression, and I never had to change the oil. It leaked enough that all I had to do was throw a quart in it every couple weeks.
Scott, Glad to see the Newport on the road again. Hopefully it isn't her last year unless she is really rusty. She is still a good looking car on the top. I love your story about the replacement sub frame. Not a bad car for $200. Hope she lives on. Especially after having her for so many years, I am hoping to see you get your C-Body Fuselage wagon on the road. Loved my Calendar. Well worth the money and Awesome Pictures! Love how Frankers Birthday is marked on it! Keep that Newport and Frazer going! Living a car guys dream! Not a bad life! Thanks! George in Maine
The calendar is truly beautiful and the packaging made sure that there would absolutely be no damage to the contents. Everyone that I show it to wants to check out the channel. Excellent advertising Scott. 👍
There is something wonderful about a faithful reliable old car like the Newport. To the right people it’s a simple comfortable joy in life. Nice work Scott and Agents. Definitely want to hear that Hemi run please.
That Newport is just so cool. It sits all summer, just put in some gas and it goes. They all sound the same when you start them in winter. My aunts ‘57 Desoto sounded the same !
Less than 12 minutes pure bliss. I am a Citroen man, but an old Chrysler starter motor is a definite eargasm. Too bad it fired up right away. Love those cars. 974 views in 24 minutes, its like a Taylor Swiffer ticket sale! Greetings from a very cold YVR, it is + 5 degrees.
Kinda sounds like a winter beater washer. LOL 😂 Frankers was ready to ride. Glad to see it back on its feet again. Just needed to be drove after sitting so long. Fresh gas probably helped.
Love the Newport. It's exactly like the one I had. It definitely deserves a save. You don't see them at all anymore where I am, otherwise I would have one. Great to see it again.
Please keep the Newport in good running order such a nice looking car . It deserves it . Twin system be nice it’s a MOPAR and it hates being choked up . Service or oils be great Scott . Anyway love that car 👍🏻💯🇦🇺⛽️.
Thanks for the ride in the Newport Scott. If the heater works it is better than my daily driver Citroen. The heater seems to have stopped working. Something else I need to waste my time on. The 100E Anglia I have been working on doesn't even have one! Mart fails the winter beats challenge! All the best, Scott, Mart from Mart's garage in England.
All that video needed was the hit man’s pump action on the front seat, the 70’s car chase music and a bubble gum light Monaco chasing you down the road….
Nice kick-down on the old battleship! Thank you, great ride out with the guys and Frankers. A 1972 Newport for Ashley is a great idea indeed. Looking forward to Saturday.
a lot of American luxury cars from this era almost remind me of landed spaceships being so long, low and wide with design in styles that look both elegant and imposing at the same time, and since I live in the EU their design sensibility still comes across as somewhat alien to people around here
@@Tsotha Cool description, the size and shape of these cars, imposing yet sleek! And massive engines, also, very nice 😃 So cheers my fellow CWM enthusiast✌
I am reminded of that scene in "Back to the Future" where a family in 1955 mistake Marty's DeLorean for an extraterrestrial spaceship. Interesting thing is that I often hear people from the US single out certain European luxury cars as uniquely alien-looking, from the Citroën DS to the Lamborghini Countach and Lancia Stratos. (and the DS is used as the standard taxi in the future seen in BTTF2!) The latter 2 were designed by the same individual engineer, Marcello Gandini. I wouldn't go that far but I do find it noteworthy when cars designed in the 1970's (like the Countach and Stratos) or even the 1950's (like the DS) still look futuristic in the 21st century. For the record I would say that this also applies to certain "fuselage" era Mopars, in particular the 1970 Dodge Super Bee and 1971 Plymouth GTX. I actually discovered this channel because my older brother restores vintage cars as his main hobby, his current project being a 1966 Imperial Crown Coupé. As a matter of fact he is considering going for a Citroën DS next.@@scalecrawlnl
Newport Treasure !!!..Good Old Reliable ...It likes gas ...lol... Live action cold idle is priceless .. Frankers Bolts inside the car there , Knows car will start , ride time soon...lol Scott floors it ....for real... A rare occasion but Newport needed a little exercise A Sport Wagon going to get a 400/727 powertrain next year ???.. Thank You for the Video Keep 'em coming !!!
Nice hearing some history on the Newport. Didn't realize you swapped the subframe all those years ago. Hope she still has a few more seasons left before retirement.
Dear CWM Scott, Francine and agents. 👍👌👏 Good ol' golden Chrysler Newport land yacht. As comfy, reliable and uncomplicated as always. Sounds like it has a little exhaust pipe or manifold leak in the front? But maybe already since decades!? 😁 ;-) I guess it needs 3 times the amount of gasoline than the golden Renault 5 does. But what a matchless decadent and comfortable way to shop chips, beer and darts, ey? 😁 ;-) Thanks a lot for making explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and especially health to all involved life forms (humans and poodle).
Couldn't help noticing when you got gas that it was only $131.9 per liter. I'm just outside of Vancouver and it's $174.9 today.....ouch!! Not exactly Newport-friendly prices.....ha, ha!
Back in the Lean times, I bought a Green 1976 Royal Monaco for $700.00 Needed a timing chain, and used tires....Ran like a sewing machine for three years.... Finally rusted out so bad I had to park it. Great old car.
Watching this video about a '72 Newport reminds me of my '72 New Yorker - THAT was a great car! I drove it from '77 through '82 and loved every single day of it! I'd love to have that car again today and rid of this new junk!
Great job keeping the rolling stock rolling. Received my calander yesterday in perfect condition. Forced myself to page through it slow and was still looking for extra months in 2024 . Front and back cover made up the bonus . Excellent quality all around
T o the guys with the new $75k cars If you've never driven one of these, you have missed out.The sheer massiveness of the Chrysler Land Yacht with a big block is way more thrilling, because if it hits a new car, the new car is totaled. It will be hard to park her though- look at that 10.4 foot wheelbase and the three wide seats. For a big tub it can get out and boogie, but you really shouldn't push your luck. For the width alone it can't fit sideways down a two laner without hitting something or even rolling over I recommend and had the exact same brown Newport as Myles ,but with all stock, 1970 1 big emission control, PCV and no A/C single 3' exhaust- tone like power
Thanks Coldwarmotors for the Thanksgiving day update. I chuckle seeing you preparing for Cold winter coming. Love seeing you all cruising in the big Newport with Frankers. I am looking forward to hanging my calendar up. I have much be thankful for. Your show is one of my top pleasures.
Yea !!! Trusty Chrysler ! Menace Dog was getting impatient though . Can't believe you swapped a subframe. One thing though ... Cragers are for the summer. If we had to run them in the winter we used to smear petroleum jelly over them. Otherwise they where rust pitted in a short time from the salt Michigan uses on it's roads. 👊😎👍
The Newport cranked over admirably after its summer slumber and is readied for its winter beater service. Also appreciated the admirable job in packaging the splendid calendar which arrived here in good stead. Cheers!
Love the 72’. A mentor of mine let me take his 72’ Newport Royale Custom to homecoming 1989. 36k mile car, an absolute cherry 2 door ride from heaven. Same color combo as yours. That car left an impression. I especially love the grill/ taillight combo from this year. Thanks for the memories!
Hi Scott... The old gal is like the Ever Ready bunny.. just keeps going and going. Gee. I just realized that my Winter beater is also my Summer beater, Fall beater and Spring beater. I'm slummin' it, apparently. Driving Miss Frankers. Always fun.
The calendar is hands down a work of art, for your humble channel to produce such a quality item is a testament to you Scott, and everything that makes cold war motors such an amazing special place to hang out with fellow like minded gear heads every week , thank you
You have a lot of cool vehicles, but that Newport is right up there with the best of them IMO. Love those fuselage Mopars, and that one in perfect beater condition complete with the rusty Cragars. Doesn't get better (well maybe it does actually but you know what I mean...)

A wonderful way to end Thanksgiving Day. So did you gents end up taking the battery out of Ash’s truck to pop in the Newport? Cheers from Connecticut!
Ok with the Newport but Ooo the Volvo!!just a glance... Youre a teaser Scott just guive it a try this winter for the beats!!! Cheers!!!
Happy Thursday! See ya Sat.
I like the Newport...but I'm still hooked on the Frazier 😎

20 year solid gold :-)
Ah yes, Dale Flatla, two of my cousins were working at the Hide Plant at Brooks back in the mid 80's and I went out to visit a couple of times and we would go out to Flatla Auto Parts and wander around. Lotsa cool Mopar stuff. I remember his shop truck was about a 71 GMC that had a 440 Six Pac in it and a very clean swap, looked factory.
Ahhh it must be winter. Firing up the old Newport. Here's to another winter of winter beats.
Might be the best styled of all the Fuselages
Winter beater time again, Myles beater's a repeter, Ash's got way more than a beater with a heater, and with Frankers as a lucky charm Scott's Newport arose from a long summer nap making a distinctive rap.
Love those old Chrysler, I had a 68 Newport 4 door hardtop, 383 .
A Beauty Chrysler in the sunset
Awesome car love it hope to see more of it.😊👍👍❤
Happy Thanksgiving to you all and I hope you have a great weekend.
Pro tip-- Turn the hazard blinker switch on, ( if it has one) it will make all of the turn signal lamps blink (or not if repair is needed) without someone in the car to move the turn signal switch.
This is true. I had heard this but still go side to side and look at all the lights. If I’m by myself I’ll check brake lights in the dark
@@MaxGiganteum I have never had a bad turn signal switch that was not real obvious.
It'll be a sad day when she's not on the road anymore. What a great save and all these years later, still a good car.
Winter beater move day, always fun...
Nice F-150 Ash!
Best content on UA-cam
I saw the video you put up last year of this Newport and I really like it very nice car. It’s always nice to see frankers as well.
Got to love the fuselage Mopars there is nothing like them and I'm a big fan of that style
Can't wait for saturday Thank you for the video
I'm guessing the drivetrain from this is going to go into the wagon you bought a while back then.
Looking forward to seeing more. Cheers ❤👍✌️🇺🇲
Thanks for the video Guys!
My '69 AMX still has a 35-amp alternator, much like that '67 Ambassador. Radio and heater and not much else, accessory-wise.
I had no doubt the old Newport would run, those old Chrysler cars are tough to kill
Newport - Alive with pleasure!
Ha! Awesome.
Mopar Winter Challenge--surrender now Winter you're days are numbered!!!😆
Yours. And. Myles. Chryslers. Real. Gems. Thanks
Nice driveway though !
