Since I didn't explicitly make the point in this, 5 of 11 is best to fight generic enemies, or if you need to fight against the battle triangle, for instance killing Actian Apex.
But if you are able to fight in the Battle Triangle, a better captain would be your SNW Captain, in my case SNW Uhura, or SNW Spock and Ortegas depending on your ship

i use same crew but subbed bev crusher as capt and tom paris below decks on t6 valdore and can kill the same ship no buffing
