Thank you for the video. It's niche, but I'm grateful you still made it. I try to learn the castanets just for myself, because I like the sound and because I think it's good exercise for my hands (and my brain?). So it's really helpful to have some lessons to start with.
A little side note; When I play along with your video sometimes it's not clear when it is time to listen to you playing and when it's time for me to repeat. And the structure changes a lot at the end of the video. It's a little confusing, but I think I'm smart enough to figure it out anyway.
Besides that, it's really informative and edited in a nice way. (:

Hello Jens, You are most welcome I appreciate your writing and I’m glad it was helpful, castanets require so much practicing, but they are also a lot of fun

So I bought circular castenets, that are probably meant for kids. They came tied with an elastic string. I cut the string and replced them so that I can hold the castanets like you do. But, I can not get a clean click. Every click I make is followed by little clicks. How do I get a clean click?

That is quite common in the beginning, hard to say without seeing you do, but it is often one of these two things: the castanets are not tight enough, they need to be quite tight so there is tension between them and then are in an "open position" when hanging from your fingers. The other problem can be that you need to hit them harder and keep the finger tightly holding them close. Try that and see if the helps!
