We're removing all the support stands and temporary frames piece by piece from the hull. And finally we have an empty hull and we can see how big it is!
We are a Swedish family who have sailed the world since 2016 while sharing the adventures here on UA-cam. While we are still sailing, our main focus now a days is building RAN III, a 50 ft sailboat that we are building from scratch. We post a new episode every Friday so make sure to subscribe and hit the bell to be the first to know when there is a new episode!

Malin, Johan & Vera
There are three key developments going on with this channel! A boat, skills and Vera, All moving ahead quickly. That boat looks huge at this stage.
Vera looks huge !
🎉😊
Much credit to your wife to be able to help and want to do the work .
Stunning. It may become your home, but that hull is also a work of art.
this guy can move mountains
Nothing like being up at 5am New Zealand time to watch Ran sailing to start my Saturday.
You are wrong, its still friday.
Saturday in NZ,6.30 am
Watch every week ,same time
Hi from Taupo. ❤
Hi from New Plymouth!
This sailboat is huge! I hope the scale doesn’t scare you in terms of all the material needed to fit it up. One bite at a time, that’s how you eat an elephant!
She is stunning. What a surreal feeling to be in her hull now. Picnic perfect. You two are a wonderful partnership. And Vera is your little gem. I'm hooked.
JOHAN AND MALIN ALONG WITH VERA (SWEET HEART) REALLY HAVE MY EXCITEMENT PEAKED. I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT SEEING THIS PIECE OF ART BOAT FINISHED.
That empty hull is amazing. More great work. Thanks for sharing.
The amount of hard work that goes into this project every week is amazing. Johan planning, procuring, tools, wood, paint, etc with 16 to 18 hour days, yes it's a labor of love but there are limits. Malin produces, directs, films, edits and uploads the video. 8-hrs per day in front of her computer on average just to do the editing. Malin planted a good size garden, there is Vera (a full time job) to be transported to school and picked up every day, food shopping,, cleaning, cooking yet Malin has time to sweep and clean the work space and perform heavy labor on the boat.
The smile on Johan's face when he said it was the last support says it all. Such a proud moment for him! But the boat even in its current state looks like a work of art!
The hull looks great. So much larger in side than I thought it would.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
When I started watching years ago I had no idea how good RAN Sailing was going to become. Again, only the kindest wishes from Amerca's heartland.
Wow, bigger is an underestimate! Having worked in a shipyard, you are now officially a joiner shipwright.
The shot of Vera helping to turn the boat over with her bike and the pulling strap - the cutest picture ever. Good to see how Vera is 'involved' in the project. So important. The boat looks enormous now the frames are gone.
Wow you really couldn't tell how big your boat was upsidedown now it's setting the right way up it's a big wide boat nice job can't wait to see the progress as you build it.
There is something really satisfying watching you two succeed. Not to mention your beautiful daughter lending a hand.
It looks amazing, the picnic was the perfect way to celebrate the progress, you three are an inspiration to all of us. Fair winds and pleasant seas.
Malin in such a beautiful Mother, Wife and is a big part in this build.
I am already impressed with her sailing abilities. Such a "JOYOUS" family. Thank you!!😇 and God Bless
So impressive! That space looks huge!
I recall very early in the build when you began the strong back and mentioned none of that structure was permanent. Now in what to me is a blink of the eye (I’m sure it feels much longer to you) you’ve dismantled the temporary structure, revealing the space for the next phase of the build.
Almost every week I watch you reach new milestones. This one has to be the most significant to date. Congrats!
What a beautiful piece of sculpture you have crafted. It is gratifying to see all your work come to such wonderful fruition. We know this is still early days, but celebrating this milestone feels good for all your fans.
Johan & Malin, I like how you explain everything that you have done and will be doing. Vera is the cutest!
You can really get a true sense of the size of the boat, which makes your progress to this point even more impressive!
KUDOS YOU THREE FOR THE TASK OF YOUR BUILD!!! INCREDIBLE
Just want to say how wonderful it is to follow your adventures.
Looking at Vera makes you realise that in 15 years time she will be helming the boat.....if she wants to, of course! Bill
My daughters were helming a lot earlier than that!😃
10 is the best age to helm a boat, it's like learning to play piano, have to start young.
Our daughter was at the tiller leaving an anchorage age 4.
She was alone in the cockpit, we all hid below keeping a very close eye on things. The people on the French boat coming in were a little surprised . Light airs full main and genoa. 9 tonnes of 40 foot classic boat. “What’ll I do now”. “Just keep going straight you’re doing fine”.
Not surprised a true Product of a real family. Our Love with you All.
Wow! Congratulations! Just great. Awestruck really. Speechless! Whoo Wee... Give yourselves credit. Amazing. Thank you so much for sharing all of this.
You Guys deserve it all. You have done an amazing job such a high standard. It looks so big can't wait to see all the bulkhead going in.
What a beautiful pallet U2 have created. I am excited to see the finish. I don’t care how long it takes. I’m there.
Pictures pictures pictures…you cannot take enough at this stage!
It is truly beautiful
Well.... Vera is still the star of this show but the boat is catching up rather quickly, we shall see who wins in the end, Everything and everyone is looking great!
That is beautiful. Just beautiful!
I just smile and shake my head every episode at how hard you both work and ALL the changes that get done! And yes, dealing with that precocious Vera! 🙂
Truly an amazing episode showing the interior and bountiful beauty of your epic build. Your hard work and the persistent quality throughout is a massive credit to the heritage of your country. We all can't thank you enough for sharing your family picnic.
About coiling up the rope: if you lay the rope against the coil in your hand once and then reverse the loop 180 degrees and then lay it against the coil, the rope will not get all twisted. It's a little hard to explain but a search about coiling (looping a rope into a coil) a rope without twists might produce some pictures. I've been coiling ropes and extension coils for many years but just learned this technique about a year ago, so I'm not at all trying to be a know-it-all. After all that, my wife and I love your show and particularly your boat build.
Great advice !
Another way is to walk backward as you coil letting the rope untwist. It helps if you walk around a tree, or whatever, to put tension on the rope.
Congratulations for a fantastic milestone on your journey. You 3 are amazing. May all of life’s blessings shine upon you. Regards Pete. (Australia)
What a beautiful peace of art: the hull without all the frames etc. Clear, minimalistic design. Unbelievable work that you have all done. Congratulations
I own a sawmill and folks are always amazed at my "scrap" pile. They see so much potential in the wood that I intend to burn in my woodstove. But I live at 1220m elv. right on the US/CA border. Here winters are five months long, at least. We had snow this past June 15th, and my wood stove is running right now (2.2c). I typically go through about 10-12 chords of wood each year. So I am grateful to the contribution my scrap pile makes to my heating bill each year.
The progress you’ve made is simply mindblowing. When you pulled the hull out was the first time I realised how big RAN will actually be. Keep it going!
Congratulations! You always make me smile - for you! So happy for you all! ;-)
I did it! I watched all the boat build videos in two weeks! What an amazing job you've done so far! I look forward to your future videos with great anticipation. Thank you for sharing!
The empty hull looks huge. You can take pride in all the hard work you have invested. Step by step may your dreams come true.
Very nice work and I am thrilled to see the cleared out hull. Thank you for another wonderful video.
A glorious unwrapping. She's beautiful. You two have to be proud. Skoll.
Vera is so special. Such a happy pleasant little girl. Loved the picnic! You three are special.
Dear Johan and Malin,
I am following your advantures for quite some years now but this is my first reaction to your channel.
I'm really impressed by everything you have accomplished. Wonderfull to see and a lot of respect from me!
I was wondering if you still look at other (production) boats to see what the newest features in the sailboat market are?
I was particular curious what you think about the layout / setup of the new Ovni 490 since it is about the same size of Ran III and designed for probably the same cruising grounds.
Would love to hear your thoughs about this subject from you. (maybe others as well, and it could be a nice subject for one of your future videos, but that is up to you of course :)
Good luck with the further build!
Av alle vlogs er det ran sailing jeg venter mest på. Mere som hver ny luke i julekalenderen😊
The hull is so large and spacious! Looks like you'll have room for many more children (er, I mean "crew")!
😀😀👍👍❤❤❤ The new RAN is very impressive indeed! She should be a very comfortable sailing vessel. Vera will remember this build all her life. Look forward to seeing her in the future helming this new RAN.
Happy Fathers day to all the dads & Grand dads. may you and your children be blessed.
How stunning, congratulations on reaching this milestone. Everything you do from now on will make her feel smaller🤓. In all my years in construction, I never got over how small a house feels when the drywall goes up on all the interior walls - and how bothersome it becomes to move around when you can’t just step through a wall like a ghost. Bulkheads will do the same. We are 162,000 viewers who can’t wait to see how this all comes out in the end. Bravo!
It is unbelievable what only two human beings can create. The hull really looks impressive, the picnic was a wonderful idea to celebrate what has been achieved already. Looking forward to building the interior.
Best video of my week.
Wonderful to see a family creating something like this together. Seeing such daunting construction and artistry happening as well as family life, you can but wonder about the drive, hard work and determination it must all take. Exciting to watch the progress all round. The hull looks beautiful
“It’s so much bigger now”
Viking, it’s HUGE!!!
All that beautiful wood ribbing…Vera could roller skate in there 😊
Amazing
I can't wait to see the finished boat and you both can jump aboard and say "WE BUILT THIS!" Best bragging rights ever :) Harder than building a house on land, honestly. Love from San Diego!
Guys you are a great Sailor.....This is my first time in UA-cam seeing a Sailor build thier own boat....... Great builder.Good job
There’s only one word for what you have accomplished up to this part of the build “AMAZING “. You are well onto making your dreams come true.
The hull looks really great
With all the support structure removed, it’s amazing how big a hull you’ve created! I can’t wait to see the buildout process and progress!
Congratulations to you both, this is indeed a major milestone for you. It's so great to watch you both working so hard with determination and commitment to arrive at this point, the hull looks beautiful with great lines.
The Vikingblood is running strong. That hul is a masterpeace.👍
Congratulations on all the hard work coming to fruition with the boat You are true modern day friendly Vikings.
17:27 That little picnic in the empty hull is what is known in the industry as a bilge-nic....
Congratulations on this important step... 70% is finished now get going with the other 70%...
There are many ways to build a boat but your methods are next level for a single person or couple. The strip planked hull on temporary frames will produce a very high quality fiberglass hull that will be low maintenance, leak free, and strong, compared to any other method, Love how you guys flipped the hull by yourselves. Amazing, yet you show how proper preperation makes it safe and easily manageable.
Wow like others commented, it looks massive right side up,love the Family time picnic in the empty hull. Great job to both off you. Look forward to seeing more to come.
Bill

Looking good guys. Excellent job.
Oh my goodness, what a sweet little family you have! The boat looks huge when it's empty. I'm really enjoying this boat build series. It's amazing 🤗💞
All I can say is wow!
BRAVO! JUST BEAUTIFUL
seeing you guys having the picnic shows so much how huge the hull is. Looks like much bigger than what I know of a 50-foot sailboat.
Watched since episode 1..what a legacy you are building.
The hull looks beautiful! What a great job you have done. And the picnic at the close of this video was perfect.
Such an amazing project! This channel has become my favourite #1 and watching each video an integral part of my friday evening routine :D Greetings from Finland :)
Wow - just - WOW.
You must be proud. The boat is taking shape. Congratulations.
seeing the cedar planks on the inside really shows how much work had gone into it in regard to shaping the hull. Looks very cool!
Wonderful just wonderful. A couple of days emptying the boat and a couple of weeks to process all that timber you removed.😀👍 Brilliant - well done.⛵️
What an amazing job all three of you have done, I cannot wait to see the progress week by week!!!!!!
Это авионосец!!! 😮😮😮 Вы его у себя на заднем дворе собрали!!!!
It's HUGE!!!. In my mind I'm seeing a skateboard whizzing up the sides. 😊
Beyond impressive!
What an incredible achievement well done!🎉
This hull shape is soo efficient. It is impressive. It should be a very fast boat. And, it's huge
Wow your boat hull looks amazing
The lines from the inside shots are inredible. What a beauty!
Johan, I said the lines from...

Wonderful work , So exciting 👏
She is beautiful inside and out! I could say that for Malin and Vera as well. Johan what a master craftsman in getting the hull done. As you said lots of clean-up before moving forward on the inside of the hull. Looking forward to watching the next steps. 🙂
Such a work of art, beautiful!
Vera already knows where she wants her cabin 😂 be sure to put back a pole she can hang on 🐒😊
I just started watching and it's so beautiful to see the whole family working together to build their dream boat. I just love it keep up the great work.
Johan with such amazing talent, it is looking fantastic, congratulations to getting this far
