@@atomictraveller I watched your link, i think it looks too rigid, it lacks flowing and reminded me of karate (not a good thing). I prefer this video where graceful and fluid movements alternate with decisive pwerful strikes. It has the perfect balance of Yin and Yang.
God, the movement, the exactitude, the timing between moves, the shoulders' position, the speed used for each movement, the strength, the precision... im speechless. I've practiced Wushu Kungfu for 5 years and Wing tsun right now, and yeah, im speechless, only someone who has practiced it and tried it can know how hard actually is to reach that level of mastery.
I started with Traditional Wushu when I was a child. Moved onto TaeKwonDo in my pre-teen to teen years. Currently learning Wing Chun. Started long range style fighting and moving into closer range. All the my masters/instructors were skillful in their arts but not all of them were good teachers. Guess sometimes the champions don't make the best teachers.
i really want to learn this style. after taking karate for 4 years then suddenly stopping after the dojo was closed i forgot how much i loved it. This art is really nice and i would love to be able to learn it. even the first form would be enough for me

This proves that superb martial arts needn't require specialized facilities or expensive equipment. All of us can learn from the practitioners in this video. Xie xie.

This is true. There is a saying that states to the effect of- skill overcomes power and mastery overcomes skill. This indicates the importance of repetition. Our kungfu school's motto is 'I do not fear the ten thousand kicks that you've practised once, I fear the one kick you've practised ten thousand times!'
Who here has heard the saying: when pigua is added to baji, gods and demons will both be terrified. when baji is added to pigua, heroes will sigh knowing that they are no match for it?
Baji was the emperor's guard's routine. You don't do it in actual performance, but during practice, you hit your thighs and arms with some of the strikes. It toughens your skin. And they don't hold back when they hit too :P
This guy is no joke, I've seen enough material arts over the years to KNOW this guy is real pro. The power of the punches the coordination the grace of his moves, it's powerful in any ways😇
very nice, very good, question for the ones who know this ppl in the video, is this all baji, or is ther also a xinyi liuhe set there? or are this two styles really so close?
He throws quite a few. Most kicks are thrown at the thigh, or shin of the opponent. Baji Quan is about short movements, high kicks and knees take a lot longer to pull off than a kick to the shin.

Liang De Hua is a disciple of the aforementioned Masters and is starting to teach it all online now including the Yang family Ba Duan Jin neigong and one of the Changquan fast forms to the public. Gotcha! I agree with you in that aspect. Often I'd watch MMA and think a drop elbow would break that hold or his jaw, but that move is illegal. But don't forget, same thing applies for all martial arts tournament matches. Elbows and knee strikes are taught, in Karate and TKD, but most of those techniques are banned from use during competition. I can see where they are coming from though; it's a sport, so they are trying to minimize serious injuries or accidental deaths.
We know that saying too. Just replace "kick" with "move". I'm not putting down repetition. I practice each individual move as warm up. I'm just trying to emphasize the importance of real world application. It's like learning how to ride a horse through books, but until you saddle up and ride one you will never know where the weakness is. Another name for this is called "Combat experience". Well repetition is one thing. But you still need application. Try to find people who know the martial art and apply what you practiced. Best one to start off with is have the person do the one-two punch (left hand-right hand; since it is the most common first attack to any fight) and use what you learned to either block/intercept/counter. Different people = different height, strength and habits. Also don't be afraid to get hit. No matter how good you are at martial arts, you will get hit.
does anyone know what the name to the form that is being demonstrated? These are very kewl. It is great that someone took the time to document and share with the world something like this.
This style comes from coolies carrying heavy weights on their back on both sides of a pole. The two extended arms on each side of the pole here are used powerfully. The feet are solid on the ground and stable as when carrying weights. Brisk movement corresponds to offloading the cargo or transferring carried weight. Another hypothesis is the movements come from imitating the male bird parade during the mating season. The feet movement are very beautiful. I would like to learn this style.
interesting...but are you sure it came from the coolies?? also, how long ago did they conceive and develop the martial arts? and how did coolies become so wise?
@capfudge Can you kick knees using shoes in MMA? Can you use shoes in general in mma? There are aspects of martial arts that you use in fight sports, but martial are are also strategy. In real life, if you take down somebody, you kick his face with shoes, for example, you don't give him time to get up (angry) and break your face. I think that for sports fighting it's better something like thai boxe, because it's more adaptable to a competition with rules.

@ajdp1995 Thing is scholars don't know bajiquan's exact origins, for its first recorded practitioner, Wu Zhong, was a Muslim. Then again, bajiquan could had some links with Taoism since Liu Yun Qiao, another bajiquan practitioner, noticed some sameness with it and taijiquan.
