Brandon, after six seasons, is STILL falling for Slippin’ Jimmy’s schemes😂
That was like a mixture of all three personas combine
He will never change. And by he, I mean Brandon.
Nice and honest, explaining to me my thoughts. Noticed that there's no need to put anything into cinnabons, sugar is already there and working the man perfectly!
Drippin jimmy getting himself some new suits🤤
Gene’s emotional breakdown also provided him an excuse to suddenly stop visiting the guards without them wondering why.
yea a brilliant tie in
I love how you can see Mike’s influence on Jimmy with that “I need to hear you say it” line.
People just love stealing quotes from Mike in the gillaverse
@@isaiahromero9861 bravo Vince
The whole "we're done" with Jeff is the reverse of 'we're done when I say we're done' from breaking bad.
Didnt even think of the mike parallel aswell
I kept on thinking of the "say my name" line. Whenever Jimmy is at his most bada@@ he makes people say something lol.
The jazz music playing during the montage where 'Gene' is working the guards is called 'Jim On The Move' by Lalo Schifrin. These guys think of everything.
I remember it being sampled by a dance song on some adverts a bunch of years back.
@@Torthrodhel The song that came to my mind, that sampled it was: "The Wiseguys - Ooh La La".
@@Cnith yeah that's the one.
“It just sounds crazy.”
“Crazy? No Defecation through a sunroof, now that’s crazy!”
So a bit of an unpopular opinion: I think this low-stakes heist is a lot more stressful than most of the cartel scenes.
I mean the stakes are pretty high if you think about it. If Gene gets caught and arrested, they would find out who he really is.
The thing is: this is the opposite of low-stakes. If this dude gets caught, then he rats on Gene/Saul, and then Saul goes to jail for the rest of his life.
Stakes were super high.
@@yourexistencehasexpired9545 Sure, but the cartel shit is basically "If you fuck up, you're dead."
I definitely agree. With a lot of the cartel scenes the tension was undercut with the fact that we all knew how the story ended for the majority of characters involved with that storyline.(Except for Lalo and Nacho.) Scenes with Gene are a complete unknown now and this had me stressed.
Someone found out that the day of the heist is the same day that Walter White leaves New Hampshire to go back to Albuquerque. They used the football scores they discussed since they used real games
damn we might get Walt and Jesse in the Gene timeline
Wow so this whole time Gene has still been in the breaking bad timeline
If that’s true, that means we’ll get Gene’s reaction to the news about Walt being dead. I think the next episode (titled “Breaking Bad”) will show key points of Saul’s time with Walt and Jesse through flashbacks as Gene hears about Walt’s body being discovered. That would actually be a good way of bridging that gap over the BB timeframe while progressing the plot forward with Gene.
Not true because apparently Walter White's birthday is in September and these games were later in the season.
@@Bogey316 well does it snow in September? Walt left New Hampshire covered in snow. Couldn't take more than a few days to get to that diner.
this episode is basically just a short film and I love every second of it.
100% agreed, you could probably show this episode to someone who's never heard of the Breaking Bad universe and I reckon they would still find the episode entertaining.
its literally a Cinnabon manager pulling off a heist in a mall, how awesome is that!?
Similar to the Sopranos college episode in that way.
The fact they got Carol Burnett to do a cameo as the old lady/mom is epic. Apparently it's her favorite show
I've a feeling it'll be more than just a cameo
It was great to finally get a full Gene episode. He took care of Jeff in the way he knows best: with a classic Slippin' Jimmy con. Also I have a feeling Marion is going to play a bigger part in wrapping up Gene's story than we realize. Can't wait!
Yeah, I doubt they would cast Carol Burnett in a role where she only acts for a few minutes of one episode.
@@Mr_Bob_A_Feet We'd hope, but she is 89 years old, so it would be understandable if she just wanted to do something small.
@@ayewhaddupdoe we have an 80 year old with clear dementia and a passion for sniffing children and other men's wives running the country into the ground, im sure an 89 year old actress can handle more than one episode
Holy shit you were right about Marion, i didnt see it coming
As a Nebraskan, and by default a giant Nebraska college football fan, I can't say enough good things about this episode. All the references and "football talk" are spot on and well-researched: losing to an unranked Texas team, playing Oklahoma St. the following week, our love/hat relationship with head coach Bo Pelini, Martinez's record-breaking freshmen year in 2010, Tom Osborne's legacy, Tom Frazier and the 1995 team (perhaps the greatest of all time). Vince and Peter's writing is gold...this episode would only take place in Nebraska, and they way the writer's incorporated my home state into the plot makes my heart sing.
Walter: We're done when I said we're done.
Gene: I need you to say it, we're done.
I can’t wait to see how all of this wraps up. The only thing I know is, expect the unexpected.
There’s nothing they can do to disappoint because I have no expectations because I have no idea what’s going to happen and that makes me excited for the final few episodes this show is as good as breaking bad I can’t believe how good this prequel show has been
I suggest everybody to check out the vanity fair interview that bob and rhea did 3 days ago
Mors mutual insurance moment
I don’t think that Brandon realizes that nippy doesn’t exist
That outfit he tries out at the end looked like something Tuco would wear.
The spot that he slipped on in the store was the same spot that the store manager asked to be cleaned earlier in the episode.
No shit Sherlock 😂😂😂
@@vt_sandman3392 ??? you good?
We all got that
Every single person watching the show understood that.
@@williampilling2168 As someone who has seen multiple people on youtube miss that, I can certainly guarantee that is not true. But nah nevermind that, I'll trust the smart ass online who thinks they can read the minds of every person in the world.
I can't even imagine how many people watch this and have no idea that the old women is Carol Burnett and also have no idea who Carol Burnett is
Most people after seeing Gene: What’s he doing man? What’s he up to?
Brandon: O no! He lost his dog!
Most people after seeing Gene sound an awful lot like Lalo wondering about Werner Zeigler.
I believe you did that on purpose 👏
imo one of the best episodes in this show. forgot it was even black and white till the end
I agree and a great way to subvert expectations
Black and white tv is still very watchable imo
Did you not recognize Carol Burnett in the scooter ? She may be before your time but she is pretty famous comedian .
I thought it was pretty cool that they got her to play the part of Jeffy's Mom.
Carol Creighton Burnett is an American actress, comedian, singer, and writer. She is best known for her groundbreaking comedy variety show The Carol Burnett Show, which originally aired on CBS. It was one of the first of its kind to be hosted by a woman. She has achieved success on stage, television and film in varying genres including dramatic and comedic roles. She has also appeared on various talk shows and as a panellist on game shows.
A rare Brandon BCS/BB video that doesn’t end with Brandon exasperatingly yelling “That’s where they end it?!”
Casting Carol Burnett! Brilliant! The legend. Haven't seen her in so many years. At 89, she still has such charisma.
That scene was my loudest "oh shit!" Moment. Good on Jimmy for that crying fest.
This one was absolutely imperative to Jimmy's story. All of his wit, emotion, and history come into play into this one last scheme. It's a testament to how good he was at what he did and how far it has removed him from society. He was great at playing the game, but it ultimately ended him as we know it. He doesn't enjoy the thrill anymore because he has become a shell of himself. No friends, family, or wife as he stated. This was basically them presenting how far he has fallen. It's sad that he can only tell the truth when he is doing his magic, it's reminiscent of when he was trying to get his lawyer license back in the Season 4 finale. But when Jimmy McGill doesn't enjoy his own tactics anymore, yeah...he's at rock bottom. The entire story led to this moment. Just have to wait and see if there is an unexpected happy ending.
i can't bring myself to hold out hope for a happy ending :(
The fact that this show can give us an episode that is so far removed from what we're used to seeing and *still* knock the ball out of the park is mind boggling.
I love how after like 70 episodes, our sweet boy still gets surprised by Jimmy's schemes and motivations
I'm from Ieland and a lot of these scenes reminded me of my recently passed grandmother.
I called her nanny, BTW, and used to help her shop bc she didn't trust the "Internet freaks."
"Nanny? Do you want the wholemeal leaf or...?"
"Do I look like I eat wholemeal ya wee bitch?"!
New Kim Wexler lore
It couldn't be helped, but I feel the re-casting of Jeffie was a bit disappointing for the character. In previous scenes, Jeffie was quite intimidating/menacing, and that gave the stakes a bit more gravitas. I felt this version of Jeffie was a lot meeker, and that changed the dynamic quite a bit. Still a great episode though!
I totally agree, sucks they had to do that
I think it really works. Gene is afraid of this intimidating guy. Of having his past exposed. But when he finagles his way in with the mom. It destroys his power over Gene. He's this meek man living with his old mother.
I mean, I think the character is portrayed differently as a result of Jimmy getting the upper hand on him, not because the actors are different. I actually think the original actor was perfect for the one scene he was in, and the new actor was perfect for this episode, but I can’t imagine them acting in eachother’s scenes. The energy is supposed to be different for each.
Yeah I didn't realise they were the same person, it's a shame because they're acted so differently and I would have preferred to see the original after his earlier appearance, he was menacing and cocky and intimidating and then he became a pathetic wet blanket just because Saul met his mother?
It's been almost 2½ years since the episode with the first Jeff appearance aired, so I didn't even know about the recast until after the episode. Speaking of, Gene went to a diner, ordered French toast, and let it get cold while he was reading the paper. I think this was when news broke about Walter White's death, which happened on his birthday September 7th.
I'm one of those people who gets impatient with the slow pace of this show, but I totally get it. Jimmy's a magician. And the only way you can become a magician is to go to ridiculous lengths; spending ridiculous amounts of time on your "trick" which no other reasonable human would resort to.
Perfectly put!
the suspense in this episode gave me heart palpitations
VERY relieved that Gene found Nippy :D s after all that, a happy ending!
The perfect video to watch in bed before I go to sleep :)
The next episode is written and directed by Tom Schnauze and is titled Breaking Bad…..so this was an amazing subverting of expectations and gave us a fun episode that still had dark elements and the recast caught me off guard but then I realized he was in HBOs We Own This City but I think this Jeff worked better with Carol Burnett as his mother……sauls first episode in BrBa was titled Better Call Saul…..so only fitting for Walt and jesses appearance in his show to be titled Breaking Bad I just am surprised Vince isn’t writing and directing it but he directs and writes the penultimate episode
That’s why I’m kinda thinking the title might be a red herring, and we’ll see Walt and Jesse in the penultimate episode. Then again I’m most likely wrong. Every prediction I have for every new episode is always wrong lol, the writers are incredible
It's a shame they spoiled it. I mean everyone expected that would happen, but it would be better if no one actually knew for sure it will, you know?
@@Pir-o I agree. I’m sure it’ll still be awesome to see them back though, I’m looking forward to it because the writers always find a way to surprise me in a good way. So we’ll see how they handle it or if Walt and Jesse even show up
Fun fact, the Cottonwood Mall is a real mall in Albuquerque, so they didn't really film in Omaha. Also, Jimmy's inital reaction to the security gaurd talking sports is about what I would do. "Hmm, oh yeah. Go sports ball".
No one has made me laugh more in my life than Carol Burnett... Queen!
Yo, Carol Burnett is a comedy legend and icon. This episode reminded me of Jackie Brown. The song in the montage was from an old Mission Impossible episode I think.
I feel so old that no one seems to know Carol Burnett... When the episode started I was looking at the old woman... She looks familiar.?.?.? IS THAT CAROL BURNETT?!?!!!!
@@baghead777 Same. It took me a second and then I got all excited. Then I felt even OLDER for getting excited that Carol Burnett was in the episode lol
@@ayewhaddupdoe Maybe Vicky Lawrence will be in the next episode...
I absolutely love how they hired Garry Gergich to just act like himself for the entire episode.
I saw a lot of backlash for this episode and idk why I thought it was amazing
I think it was just people on twitter who started watching the show this season cause they heard walt and jesse were gonna be in it
I can't imagine watching and loving the whole show up to this point and not enjoying this episode, it literally makes no sense
I did get a sense of they got another idea and had to wrap up Jeffie knowing who he is pretty fast.
Because people are impatient and stupid. The teaser basically told them that this was going to be a Gene episode and they were still surprised and confused. It was a great episode that feels very much cut from the same cloth as everything else in the show, so what reason do these people have to complain?
Because there were not explosions and shootouts 🤓👆
Cause people just want shooting and killing they don’t appreciate the details not everything is about drugs and killing
I think the nostalgic moment he slipped the pinky ring on, Slippin' Jimmy is back!!
Great episode. For some reason it made me very happy that Jerry from Parks and Rec is in it. Living that family man life again.
Brilliant BSC reaction video. Enjoyable style too. Subscribed!
Didn’t realize til now that where the store manager says «lets get maintenance to give this area a pollish» is where he fell and hit his head.
After all that.. a happy ending?😭
Vince Gilligan : NOP
your reactions are fantastic
Loved this episode! It's so different to anything else, it feels like a season 1 episode
I've been following BCS through your and others reaction videos, but you're by far my favorite.
Includes BB, but I've actually watched all full episodes on Netflix already.
This is an excellent episode, I really like how we got a Gene episode already and I really like your reactions on this series Brandon, keep up the great work you do!
Outstanding episode
Oh man, it's all so wonderful....
I think it's my favorite episode of the series. They put out four episodes in a row that are absolutely 10. They are unbelievable.
The opening credits broke down, because he had "remembered" about it too much.
Him hanging up the shirt and tie at the end was his mark on the scene. It wasn’t him “hanging up” his Saul suit. During the Cinnabon sequence we see it cut to the sg was here further illustrating this.
That Kansas City Royals bag can't be coincidence.
I didn't immediately figure out that the "clean up the black marks" on the mall department store floor was a FLASH FORWARD until the second watch through. Pretty clever!
Was it? I assumed they cleaned and waxed the floor and that’s what caused Jeff to slip.
@@mike87kush Well, I'm guessing it's a flash forward, because the entire episode they are jumping back and forth, and it seems BCS likes to do tricky stuff like that. I'm taking a little bit of liberty in how I'm interpreting it of course, but it makes sense to me.
That heist scene made me so tense.
Such a great performance from Bob Odenkirk
"He's moved up from Pawnee"
Has he???
It has been one of the most beautiful and symbolic episodes in the whole series. I loved it.
EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE
nice detail of how in the thumbnail Brandon is sorta doing the same arm thing as Gene
Cant wait for the new oooone
For a moment I thought the old lady was Kim in disguise
Love your videos dude! I was wondering why don't you have any videos of you reacting to season 3 of Fargo
Been asking for Fargo reactions for almost a year now. No clue why he stopped. Maybe he prioritized other shows, or just didn’t like the seasons past two..
@@planetoffkey4337 Well I saw he mentioned a scene from Fargo season 3 in his big Lebowski reaction so he definitely has watched it. I got curious and looked up if he had a reaction for season 3 and it looked like it was on his Patreon so maybe he's just waiting a bit to release to UA-cam.
Next week's episode is called 'Breaking Bad'.
we haven’t had a montage in a bit!
Loved Carol Burnett's appearance. She was masterful. From the preview to next week it looks like they might be going back to the Kim timeline because it sounded like Jimmy talking to her. Not sure though.
Yeah, I think Kim is going to come back and see him in his Gene days. No way she peaces out this unceremoniously in the show. There has to be complete closure and the way she left before didn't really feel like that.
It's funny you mentioned the Twilight Zone since Carol Burnett (Marion) was in the original. The actor who played Jeff was recast due to scheduling conflicts so I was confused at first.
I mean, considering how gene is putting a colorful suit on on the poster of this season I'm guessing we will get another gene sequence where he does get back to being saul or slipping jimmy
9:53 This current scene in the Gene timeline is only 1 month after Walter White had died. This took place mid October of 2010 and Walter died September 7 of 2010
Brandon, where can I apply to you to watch The Shield on FX. That was some good TV as well. I am hella sure you haven't seen it yet.
I'm calling it, Marion is going to be the reason Saul gets arrested
So many complaints over the recast who gives a shit it doesn’t ruin anything at all
My boy Brandon thought Gene had a dog named nippy lol
Brandon. i've watched your reactions to FARGO. How did you like Bob.O. in this? lol.. so similar to his character ,,in appearance and dialect as he had in FARGO.
Awesome
The scene at start outside looked odd to me. It took me a minute to figure out what it is. Even with snow on the ground, the trees appear to be full of leaves and don't seem like they changed color.
Road To 10 Million Subscribers
God I thought that was Carol Burnett but I wasn't sure till I read the credits.
I absolutely loved this episode the more I thought about it. At first, it threw me off given the recents events of the episodes. But it was wonderful spending time with “Gene” and his new ways (or going back to old..)
6:54 Great pun, Brandon.
Thats music during the store robbery was actually by a guy called LALO Shifrin. You couldnt make it up! 😂😂😂
I have a feeling the rest of the show will be in the Gene timeline, and any Breaking Bad storyline stuff will just be handled during the intros. It just seems weird to jump backwards in time for a full episode immediately after a huge jump forward in time.
I personally have a theory that next episode will be breaking bad timeline, the one after that will be a Kim episode, and I don't know about the finale but I'm pretty certain that its gonna be in the gene timeline, picking up right where we left off. I have a feeling the reason they put nippy where they did is because it's setting the finale up for something, and it wouldn't feel right as a penultimate episode. now that we've been introduced to them and saw what unfolded, I think there's some more context we need about Jeff and Marion that could appear in the next 2 episodes
I'm not sure we can say these events happed after Walt came back to ABQ.
Maybe one of my favourites of the season. Great reaction, have you considered watching BoJack Horseman? Definitely has a weak beginning but reaches BB and BCS levels of brilliance after a bit, amazing show
The split screen was such a genius call out. Especially with one including a clock.
You meant to say gene-ious?
I‘ll see myself out…
I just realized that Nippy is simbolic for Kim, she's lost and he's looking for her. At the end he tells Marion that Nippy was with a family a few blocks away, which is what I think will happen in the next episode, Kim will be with her family a few blocks away.
Marion played by Carol Burnett caught Gene off guard.. what about NIPPY? She's a smart cookie. . also Kathy the manager, is no dummy either.
Great to see Carol Burnett!
Can't remember the last thing I saw her in.
Saul likes computing averages, Time to eat a cinnabon that is.
I was so concerned over this Jeff having one up on Gene, and so relieved by shows end. PS I like the title of episode 11
I believe this is all a dream as it's in black and white. Colorless dreams generally follow significant loss. The previous episode showed Pam and Jimmy breaking up. Gene comes in as Jimmy/Saul's alter ego. Next week we will learn what is really going on with Saul and Gene will fade away from memory as dreams tend to do.
SLIPPIN JEFFIE
BRANDON WATCH SLIPPIN' JIMMY
It would be awesome if some Breaking Bad sh*t had occurred. Like Jimmy killing that guard after trying so hard not to kill the taxi driver
What is up Brandon?!
I think rather than Gene re-becoming Saul, he's actually slipping (pun intended) into Jimmy. The montage (which is just so perfect) and scheme is so much like peak early BCS and puts you right back in that mindset, but it also feels like a Jimmy that is close to but isn't exactly like the 3 types of Jimmy we've seen, which is all thanks to how spectacular Odenkirk's been.
After seeing them settle down the pace and completely skip an opportunity to weave in the BB timeline, I feel like we're here for good now, and that final shot is the signifier that this might be all about whether 'Gene' can find peace. Up until now, he's either been soulless or, now, full of life doing schemes. A deep dive into the character's state, with Walt & Jesse's appearances coming in opening teasers (like the sorts of flashbacks we used to get of young Jimmy/Chuck) where they inform the episode's themes feels like the most logical way to include them in any meaningful way.
Think Kim could show up again, although I'm very unsure, but hopefully it'd be in a way that isn't too tied to these new characters (the fact they might be close by would be enough). In the meantime, I'm dying to see more of Marion, which seems certain now with what's been teased.
Are you done with movies?
I’d be surprised if Marion didn’t figure him out and will turn the tables on him for a final conflict.
you should search youtube for NewsRadio predicts Better Call Saul. 6 second clip will blow your mind
If you want to avoid spoilers do not look up the title of the next episode.
Their appearance was spoiled months ago
I wonder would they be that on the nose? From the screen shots it looks like a Gene episode again. Obviously there could be a flashback. Maybe it's referring to Jerry etc.
@@brownsey1 My guess is we could possibly get a Gene scene in the beginning of the episode then the rest is during the Breaking Bad timeline.
@@ianmcclure3936 Unpopular opinion, but I'm not gone on Walter and Jesse returning. I wouldn't bother me if they didn't. As for your scenario, yeah that's equally possibly.
@@brownsey1 I mean we've already seen their stories already. So... Other than them appearing for one last time for a few scenes... They probably will only be appearing to benefit the narrative and Saul's Character. Also... Not sure how possible it is, but I would love to see Hank again in this episode even if it's like just one scene. I really enjoyed his scenes in Season 5 and would love to see him in this episode again.
I have a few guesses as to what's gonna happen and I've seen a few that were pretty good too, but i feel like every single one of them is far off lol.
