In Saul's last interaction with Walter at the Vacuum Repair Man's store, he says he hopes to be manager of a Cinnabon in Omaha. That is where the opening comes from.
pretty sure saul or someone else presented that as a possible ending for jesse when the vacuum repair guy was brought up initially also. just like the nail salon was shopped around to both jesse and walt lol but ya managing a cinnabon in nebraska was mentioned in breaking bad
@@mcdotterson4103 That was never said about Jesse, it was only said once and exactly what (Atb19) said. The writers talk about how they were very excited to have that be the first Easter egg. They made a big deal about it
I like to think that somewhere in Jimmy's past he worked at a Cinnabon, and therefore knows the business, and his ambition post-Heisenberg is no higher than to manage one.

@@bucklinspring what I love about BCS is that it adds so much more to breaking bad, which is a show I absolutely love. I feel like without breaking bad, better call Saul would still make for a decent show, just not as good as it is now.

I’m so excited for this. Bob Odenkirk is a fantastic actor and they took his more one-note bud hilarious character in Breaking Bad and fleshed him out fantastically in BCS. This show gets better each season too just as Breaking Bad did.
I love it in a way I never did BB Kim Wexler is definitely a reason why hell I could use a spin-off of her. But man I'm mad this season is its last.

The series is well done, but I think for me, I just really enjoy seeing the back story of all these other characters that became staples of Breaking Bad, but we don't get to really spend much time on.
This show is better in my opinion. I'm not saying BrBa isn't a masterpiece, this is just way better done. The writing and pacing is just incredible. Don't get me wrong, when I first saw BrBa it blew my mind. But now in hindsight, after watching BCS I feel like BrBa was a bit over the top and just unrealistic at certain points. This show has good action. Cinematography too. It just keeps surprising you. Saul is one of the best written characters in TV ever in my opinion and is just so interesting to watch. Might just be me, I like things slower and BrBa was very fast paced. BCS is perfect.

@@achimstrejac6740 for me it BCS fixes literally ALL my problems with BrBa. My main problems with BrBa pretty much stemmed from Jesse/Marie/Skyler at SOME point in the show being unbearable (Albeit COMPLETELY justfiably unbearable). Like it REALLY annoys me that Walts BIGGEST weakness that lead to his downfall…was having an over-emotional drug addict for a partner. I definitely understand it…but at the same time something about that just annoys me😂 but also at the same time him being over-emotional brought us moments of the show that will go down as the best in TV history so there’s that😂
From my view You got each of them replaced with a FAR more sympathetic character

I know these are REALLY stupid comparisons given these are two COMPLETELY SEPERATE shows about different things with characters who have different arcs…but I can’t get over how i have virtually ZERO problems in BCS like its actually crazy
Comedians don't need to write jokes for Bob, he's a legendary comedy writer! He wrote Chris Farley's motivational speaker sketch. and his sketch show with David Cross (Mr. Show) is hilarious.

@Aka no it’s not the same they do feel very different in tone. This show really takes its time with the characters. A bit of a slow burn. As it goes on it just seems to go from strength to strength and there’s Some fantastic and clever dialogue. u really get to know them all and feel for them.
@Aka the direction is different as well. In BrBa, you’ll occasionally see the ‘perspective’ cam. The colour palette plays a pivotal symbolism in framing scenes in BrBa as well. I also think that BrBa has a very good cinematography and it sometimes get super creative especially when Rian Johnson is at helm. Here in BCS, the camera movement, in my opinion, is more artistic and indie-film like. You’ll get to see more cool montages throughout the series and its cinematography is just brilliant. A masterclass truly in film making.

OMG, My favorite show of all time, Finally. I was waiting for this. This took so long. I love Breaking Bad, but I love Better Call Saul more. Everything that worked on BB is enhanced further in BCS. All the characters in this series are so deep, and their interactions are priceless.

Me too bro! I love BCS more than Breaking Bad. It is a more mature show and felt like all the writers and directors learned so much from making Breaking Bad.
Facts. BCS takes some of the best side-characters from BB - Saul, Mike, Gus, and essentially gives you their 'origin story'. And it's crazy how technically we all know how the story is going to end, yet it still keeps you on your toes, especially concerning new additions (Kim, Nacho, Howard, etc.). BCS took me a while to get into but I honestly like it more than BB at this point.

That's why I love these discussions. I've seen people spend entire seasons completely unsure of what's up with Chuck and these guys watch one episode and already have some pretty good theories. This is gonna be a great series.

One of the greatest shows ever made. Everything comes together in BCS; story, acting, characters, cinematography, music - everything.
The other judge choosing to simply show the VHS tape instead of come up with a speech is honestly the best thing he could’ve done. The UA-cam channel “LegalEagle” (an actual lawyer) reacted to this episode and said it’s accurate

the best part about this show is that it only gets better, unlike regular shows were quality drops with each season BCS only gets better

I can never get over how underrated better call Saul is. If anyone appreciated breaking bad which everyone should, better call Saul is a MUST watch, surpasses it if that’s even possible
BCS had to establish its own identity apart from BB. We have to get to know Jimmy and his world. It’s a mistake a lot of prequels make; forgetting that this is the world BEFORE the other story. I think the first episode does a great job of linking enough with the end of BB through the flash forward then raising a lot of WTF questions about the world in which the story is taking place. We aren’t supposed to know yet everything about Chuck’s situation or how Jimmy got where he is, so now we are invested in this new story with these questions. Then they throw us a “hey, it’s him!” moment with Mike and again with Tuco. They have to keep BB fans interested through links that aren’t too forced with a world that hasn’t happened in this timeline yet, while at the same time laying the foundation for this new story that eventually will link up with the one we already know. That’s HARD. I’m not sure BCS does it perfectly in this first episode, but it does it well which is WAY more than I expected when I sat down to watch it.
Before you know it, you’ll be asking THE question: Is BCS even better than BB?!
(Personally I don’t think we can answer that until we get the last season, but it’s a contender, for sure).
Settle in. Don’t expect anything. Let the tone develop. And most importantly, enjoy!!!

Breaking Bad took place between 2008 and 2010. BCS begins six years earlier in 2004.
Michael McKean's ( who plays Chuck McGill ) breakout role was annoying neighbor Lenny Kosnowski {of Lenny & Squiggy} in the sitcom "Laverne & Shirley" in 1976-1983.
Better Call Saul has 6 seasons and 63 episodes.
Season five finished on April 20, 2020. Season six is expected to air sometime in 2022.

I’m annoyed by the “BCS is better than BB” comments though bc A. No it’s not. BCS is amazing and arguably the best show still in production but BB is the 🐐. And B. Since they are part of the same universe, I like to look at BB, BCS and EC as 1 big story. You don’t need to pull 1 down to lift the other up.
Anyways, I’m sure they will once again stick the landing but I’m really going to miss Albuquerque once BCS wraps up. It’s been a huge part of my life for nearly 15 years. Salud.
Lol same. BCS inherited the characters and world of Breaking Bad. All the cool characters like Tuco, Mike, Gus, Salamanca family were created in Breaking Bad. BCS explored them and gave them backstories but Breaking Bad is the G.

My favorite Easter egg from that episode is now when blindfolded Saul speculates that “Lalo” or “Ignacio” are the ones behind his kidnapping. That means a metric ton more after watching BCS
I love that Eric likes rewatching Trailer Park Boys and Seinfeld because I also love rewatching those shows. The others should definitely react to TPB!

Wish I could upvote this more. Sooooo glad u are starting this show. I promise u will not be disappointed at all. Legendary show continuing the brilliance of BB. Gilligan and Gould did the first two seasons of this (I believe) then Gould took over and it doesn’t lose a beat. The same brilliant lighting, cinematography, scenery and writing are here. Odenkirk, Rhea Seehorn, Ray Cruz and Jonathan Banks are beyond brilliant in these roles. Sooooo tight, tight, tight!!. ENJOY!

Extremely well written prequel which in many ways has more intricate story lines than B Bad. You will have to pay close attention to the dialogue and other details or you'll be scratching your head. So they showed you the date and address on the check the court gave Jimmy McGill. This is a good way to establish the exact time line this takes place in. The year is 2002 (Breaking Bad story line starts in 2008). There will be LOTS of story telling and less "shock" value with the exception of the pilot episode. The later seasons have more action as the story progresses towards the B Bad story line. Remember that when we first meet Saul in Breaking bad, he says his name is "McGill", a "fellow potato eater" and that the Saul name is an alias.

They were way more conservative than I remember being about who might show up. Because once you have Mike and Tuco show up, you are basically throwing Jimmy/Saul into the exact same criminal underworld as Walt. So of course he’s going to run into a bunch of the same guys considering how well connected he is when Walt meets him

Mr.Robot being on Amazon Prime already cuts the viewership of the show way more than Better Call Saul.
@@ImGonnaAFK Yea but before it was put on Netflix it wasn't really talked about before that, especially with shows like Game of thrones on air. Alot of people wrote it off as a cash grab despite never watching it.
Mr. Robot jumped the shark when that horrific reveal occurred.

Also, interesting to see you guys debate what BB characters could show up. However, imo, the best characters in BCS, aside from Saul and Mike, are the newcomers. Kim, Chuck, and many others are all extremely well written and played to perfection by their respective actors. This show is not just a ''oh look this guy from Breaking Bad!''. It stands on its own as a masterpiece of television. Try to enjoy it for what it is and not just for its connections to Breaking Bad.
