You can count on Peter to always be entertaining and provocative. You can also count on him to occasionally over simplify outrageously and make unlikely assumptions in order to _stay_ entertaining and provocative! Which is not to say he doesn't make some valid and useful points. It's just a good idea to take what he says with a grain of salt and find someone else's opinion!

Peter is incredibly ill informed and speaks with such confidence that he sways lesser minds quite easily. This is unfortunate but much of this speech is misinformation. Personally I like Peter and have listened to most of his talks, but have also listened to other’s far more informed regarding Ukraine and Russia and NATO. Almost all legacy media are reporting highly crafted propaganda as fed to them by the neocon deep state bent on the destruction of Russia using Ukraine bodies and Western armaments with the traditional lies of defending democracy. The hypocrisy is immense look no further than the utter destruction of Iraq the rape of Libya the ravaging of Syria all with lies resulting in the creation of Isis with millions displaced and dead. Remember Afghanistan? 20 years and abandoned with billions of $$ equipment left behind intact. Do you remember the mountain of lies told to us?
And you expect to know they all of a sudden are telling you the truth about what they are doing in Ukraine? Grow up.

When he 100% knows that's not my name and was smirking and smiling way to much to ever think he didn't know exactly what he was doing. Here's the Thing, they are our Parents, and have Power over US, they out Number every other Generation and have since childhood, and took over the Secret Societies, and they don't let us in, and they've designed society to bleed our generation dry for there Profits. They lock US up at a multiple fold higher rate than they were, in For Profit Prisons they have Stock in or Pension Stock in, they have US paying Social Security, that we in Turn won't get, the whole system was designed for 80 years, it's a Boomer Ponzi Scheme on US, and they weren't even nice enough to have enough kids so it could keep going before it Bursts! In my Mid Twenties, Self Taught! And Eventually learning the Law and Slaughtering Careers as I had back and forth messages with the Gov-Ner! All they did was Arrest me for No Reason and the Boomers would just Refuse me a Trial! We basically didn't have trails were I came from, they Arrest you often over nothing, put you in jail for weeks (to keep it full per Private Contracts with their Pensions Tied into the For Profit Prisons Systems besides the Contractual Penalities if the place wasn't full) than give you time served and a fine, make you take the Deal, and they'll just not give you trial, and just keep arresting you, to beating you, till you take the Deal! All Boomers! And Guess What, all those Boomers, go to the Same Lodge! And our Generation isn't supposed to know all about that, otherwise we wouldn't be their Slaves! I don't have Rights... I'm just a Slave to the Boomer who's Broken Free and is Rebellion!

That the coming elections in November will switch the country towards Republican policies. While reverting presidential decrees that are poisonous to the USA and the world.
It has been Democrats that have allowed deadly Fentanyl to fl8w unchecked into the USA. KILLING OVER 300 people a day. Americans have had enough of the deadly drug trafficking by Democrats. Additionally Democrats weaponizing the DOJ and FBI against all Republicsns and Conservatives. You are not going to like it when this is turned against you. You started it. Althogh the USA makes less then 2% of the world's population, it somehow manages to impose its opinion on majority of the world, but, ironically, you are willing to die for democracy.
You are capable of thinking that USA is self-sustaing, but you will attack anyone if they don't give you a cuts.

Same here. I'm a GenXer who used to be in R&D. Those boomers not only sucked up all the jobs, they sucked up the R&Ds budgets. In the 1980s, R&D funding was easy to get, so boomers lapped it up and became "experts." Then when R&D budgets began to dry up, boomers still got what was left because they were the experts. Younger researchers trying to build expertise got almost nothing. The worst part is that the boomers thought they were brilliant, when really they were just lucky to get when the getting was good. We're all going to feel it when they take their expertise to the pickleball court, with no experts to replace them.

@@fazdoll Even worse with all the "Six Sigma" and "Lean". Since R&D and Tech doesn't show up in the bottom line it gets cut out. Problem is that it isn't seen how it affects everything else. I had a job where I wore a lot of hats. I fixed our internal servers, we sold equipment so I'd help smaller companies that got in over there heads, I helped salesman plan what to sell and participated in numerous sales calls usually selling more than originally planned, and created new products like a NAS box that did more than Open-E at the time using free software so was cheaper. To this day they sell that box.
Problem is sales got credit for all the sales whether I was on or it included new products, and internal IT is seen as a cost not benefit. So come a downturn only thing the new counters saw is money that came in directly from hourly support to customers in over their heads. Many times salesman would include some 'Free Hours' which made it worse. So I cost x$ but only brought in y$ so I had to go.

He will say something like 'this is what Russians think', just because Putin thinks something doesnt mean its the actual facts of the situation.
For example, before Putin showed how weak his military is, noone had any intention of invading Russia or threatening it. Putin implemented a self fulfilling prophecy, because now any player that wants to knows that they can chip away at Russia and theres a good chance it will break up.

Unfortunately, there is nothing "extreme" about famine, fuel shortages and situations where nations are on the brink of collapsing. It happened throughout history. In fact, Peter was going easy on us. Japan's extreme fuel shortages, brought on by the U.S. in the early 1940s (to deter them from expanding their war on their neighbors and China in the Pacific) caused them to attack Pearl Harbor and start WW2 for us. Hitler murdered all across Europe and Russia in his search for raw materials and oil. This is how world wars begin.

I think that's more because you have preconceived notions or because you aren't listening. The US won't exist in a vacuum, and if you think you can I think you're in for a surprise. The US has a host of advantages that they can and eventually will loose, from the dollar as reserve currency to fossil fuels to military expenditure. By definition what gets you is what you don't see coming. History is littered with unforeseen events, and this will be no different. Maybe not this year, and maybe not next, but it'll happen one way or another.

Well he says it with too much confidence. I don't understand how he can make such specific predictions in a complex world, where things can change, humans can adapt and there may be stuff he just doesn't understand.
Like his prediction of food shortage - there was a counter to that, that we already produce way more food than we need. Except a lot of it goes into feeding cattle. So worse comes to worst, it's the cattle that die hungry not humans.
The lack of shipping insurance hasn't impacted the Russians ability to sell oil yet.

As an African, my answer to the qn at 1:06:54 was "none" even before she finished her sentence.
Peter Zeihan is right. There is a very long list of obstacles from geography to politics preventing us from connecting to international trade centers.
The cost of importing the infrastructure we need for manufacturing is painfully high, assuming zero taxes. And once the infrastructure has been imported and the manufacturing plants are running, the cost of production and cost to export makes our products too expensive to compete with China, India or Mexico. This is assuming stable politics, low cost of capital and skilled manpower, all of which we do not have.
It is possible that we could become self sufficient, all signs are pointing towards that, but becoming a major manufacturing hub the size of China won't happen on human timescales.

In Germany 🇩🇪 we are not taking it very serious at the moment. We have big discussions about the energy problem, but demographic comes far behind energy and climate. How can we deal with it in a prosperous way? Are there possibilities? It is just breathtaking how rapidly everything changes probably several times during just one generations period

Very much enjoy Peter's insights. Bought his two latest book on Audible. It was good to hear him say he was completely wrong about Ukraine. I'm sure he'll be, shall we say, less than correct on other things. However, I would trust his insights much more that others. There's no reason to be myopic about one person. I do check myself as much as possible with all of the very interesting data Peter presents. I really loved his take on green tech in his newest book. I mistakenly assumed he was a greenie weenie. Not true. He's a "data" expert and not much of a partisan. Very much what I crave in my own research.

Everyone was wrong on Ukraine including the gross majority of the military experts. No one saw Ukraine surviving and everyone predicted Russian victory. When you look at the data and the presumptions of the time, there was no reason to think otherwise. No one saw just how incompetent and corrupt the Russian system and military really were. The war exposed all of that. The lessons the Russians should have learned from WW2, the Chechen wars, and the Georgia conflict were all ignored. Even lessons detailed by the Soviet/Russian General Staff on the conduct of proper, effective operations were thrown to the side.

Neon is the fifth most abundant element in the universe. However, it is present in the Earth's atmosphere at a concentration of just 18 parts per million. It is extracted by fractional distillation of liquid air. This gives a fraction that contains both helium and neon.

@@stevengiji3886 yes he is, but I’d say first and foremost he exaggerates a lot, picking the worst case scenarios. he says 20% of russians have aids, and relies too much on data maps which go directly against my experience. he literally thinks that china isn’t able to make anything high value, cannot take over operations of east ural oil and gas, and doesn’t consider that china has enough of its own oil and gas to continue its militarization efforts. he was surprised that russia completely screwed up the invasion of ukraine even though it was very obvious it would. he’s still overconfident in the US and how it has very little time left to save its demographic structure, and only partially understands why birthrates fall.

I believe in other talks about #3 he's said that the US is currently distracted by a realignment of internal politics, and it will keep us focused inward quite a bit for the next 5-10 years, but it's something we've done numerous times before and it will pass. He mostly says that in talks he gives overseas, such as the talk he gave in India.
