I Have 4c hair, which has been growing for 6 years, and I've maintained it decently. I think I naturally have really high porosity hair and my hair can literally dry after washing In 5 minutes. Last year I was styling in Twist which was ok. I occasionally took out twists and let my hair breathe without washing and it stayed stretched and curly and didn't shrink or smell for some reason so I liked it. Everything was good until about the end of the year. Combination factors of keeping twist in for 2 months with no wash locked in on the basketball season, along with lots of stress that school year due to being so active and leaving hair out in a fro for two weeks (despite being moisturized daily) led to some of it falling out in February of this year (about 2 inches I'm guessing with maybe 3 to 4 in an alopecia like spot in the back). I could make a 1-foot-long deadlock after every wash with the dead hair. I stopped twisting (because after that it looked dumb) and started braiding but my hair isn't really the same anymore. I don't know if I just grew up and my head grew or what. my hair used to have volume and take up space having bounce, but now it takes a lot more of that 4c pattern to it; instantly shrinking on every occasion. Water, style, stretching, or whatever I do it doesn't really matter. My hair is also starting to turn grey in some areas slowly as a teenager. The front of my hair is going to the bottom of my chin. The question is am I forgetting something or is just genetics and dreads are the only solution. I'm looking for good answers because I've been doing the basics as I'm not new to this and even been doing hot oil treatments but it almost seems as if I need a protein pack or something. Stay blessed and may the Lord be with anyone who responds.

You who’s spoken from the very core of which one can relate to but has the voice problems of our love’ed yellow bot bumblebee🐝🏎️depression taken as its meaning I fell into that rabbit whole of sadness and loss hair due to stress and seems like I’ve been growing it for ever and using different routines that correlates with my hair overall but still no progress and I look ugly I hate to spread this negativity upon myself when I say I would say I be disgusted of myself and it really throws off my character because I know that’s not how I look like or use to but when u see me you’d t I get embarrassed because I think u seeing what I see and shit makes u feel uncomfortable and also throughout the years my mother would buzz cut my hair back then when I use to get in trouble in school and never was taught on grooming or how to maintain your hair plus with personal family problems yea so much for a shot on the foot but yes I am too waiting for a response good brother…..

Bro I think you should just consult. When nothing external works, the problem must be internal. They will probably recommend you some vitamins to regrow your hair from the in-out. But for your strands I think if they are just damaged and deep conditioning+oil/protein treatments don't work it might just be time to cut everything off and start over. You can also be transitioning from new healthy growth by regularly cutting the damaged strands but definitely something is wrong inside. So fix it first and then take care of the outside. Hope it helps
