      Glad that you enjoyed the show William. I know that these model builds are not for everyone, but there is always something to learn in them. Thanks for tuning in this week.

    Great show and a terrific save of the chassis frame and suspension. You have, on numerous occasions, mentioned that just possibly there might be some inconsistent or incorrect measurements on the J&T plans and today you showed us, in spades, that situation. The fix was elegant and again showed why we all need to be a bit more "sharp eyed" when building these models. In my fabrication of the '34 Chevy, not anywhere near as complex as the Dump Truck, there were things shown in the finished model photos that were not included in the plans and so decisions had to be made, as you did with the side lights and the lights on the dump bed. Nothing that would have maligned the build, but things that would definitely add to the finished product. The Dump Truck build is coming along really well and, once again, I await the next installment. Thank you, Kenny, for sharing your time, your talent, and your knowledge with us all. Until next week . . . . . .

      While there are some inconsistencies in the plans and sometimes, they can cause a little bit of grief, the T&J plans are well done. I'm not sure what version of the plans I have, but some of these inconsistencies may have already been corrected on new sets of plans. For me, it's all part of the experience and a lot of the enjoyment for me comes from the problem solving during the model build. Being able to finally find and fix this rear axle issue was extremely satisfying for me and although it was nerve racking, I still enjoyed it. Thanks for tuning in to the show this week and for all the kind words. I truly appreciate it.

    Another fantastic video, lots of parts. Never noticed the rear springs were low.

      I guess the camera angles hide that sort of thing but I can say that it has been eating at me for quite some time. I'm glad that I finally got it fixed up. Thanks for tuning in this week.

    I really like the video Ken, I drove a 10 wheeler dump back in the 70's so I am really partial to the truck builds. I have made Toys and Joys concrete mixer. (Actually made 3 for a client). Never pulled a pup, but I really enjoyed driving. Am looking forward to the rest of the build. Great job Kenny. I really hate it when you get so far along and then find out that there is a boo boo on the plans, and you have to try to figure out how to fix it without destroying you project. Looking for #14!! David

      These "boo boos" on the plans can happen and to be honest, while it is frustrating when it happens, I do enjoy the challenge of how to fix the issue. Thanks for tuning in and for chiming in with your thoughts. I truly appreciate it.

    Awesome job so far Kenny. Been there, done that with T&J mistakes. Even more when you build models without any plans.

      Not every plan can be perfect and depending on what version of the plans you have, the errors or omissions may be there or they may not be there. What's important is to learn how to overcome them and how to correct the work when a mistake is found. Cross referencing assembly drawings, full scale drawing and different views is key to being able to figure out what you need to do and where the errors are. It's all part of the fun and it's all part of the challenge as you are well aware. Thanks for tuning in.

    Hi Kenny, good to see you are still trucking along. Good pickup and fix for the rear suspension. I know you said in your comments that all the plans can’t be perfect, but maybe if they built the model from their own plans that they would pick these things up? Any way as you say it’s all part of the problem solving, great job again.

      They do have folks that test these patterns for them Philip and I would like to think that this error was caught and corrected in a later version of the plans. I do enjoy the challenge though. Thanks for tuning in.

    Very annoying having to make parts again due to a mistake, even more so when the mistake isn't yours ... it'd have become immediately apparent that something was off if you'd done the spring top parts when they were supposed to be done, but easy to miss with such a complex build 👍
    The amount of time and effort required to make this project is amazing, as is the fact that you have also done videos/narration for the entire build ... it's very much appreciated 👌

    Kenny, these shows sure fly by. It must have been really frustrating to have to disassemble what was so carefully assembled…grrr. Nice recovery by the way.

      Thanks for the kind words Paul. While frustrating yes, it is also a test of your skill and problem solving skills to be able to recover from something like this. Frustrating but oddly satisfying when you finally get to correct it. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

      I've had a look at the pictures just quickly and I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it. I will look at it again when I am not so pre-occupied with things I have going on at the moment. Thanks for sending them Dutchy. I think it will clear a few things up for me. Thanks for tuning in.

    Morning Kenny, with those spring-top parts, does the two back-axles with the wheels still tillt? In my build, those sprng tops prevent that.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  2 місяці тому

      Yes, mine still pivot. I checked while I was in the shop today and they definitely pivot.....HOWEVER.....I think that mine only pivot because I replaced the back bracket that holds the axle in place which means that there is now a bit of a gap between the spring top parts and the axle base, allowing the pivot to take place. I hope this helps Peter. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

    When do the plans have you do the door handles?

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  2 місяці тому

      Let's be clear on this. The plans NEVER tell you an order or give you any instruction as to what should be made or assembled first. It is completely up to the maker's discretion. I usually choose to make these kinds of parts at the end to finish off the build so it will be a little while before they are installed. I hope this answers your question. Thanks for tuning in.
