Listen, there are two possibilities here. Either KD and Mac and cheese are different by virtue of the fact that KD is not legally allowed to be called cheese, or the US an Canada are different by virtue of the fact that Canada doesn’t allow KD to be called cheese. IDK which one it is but it’s definitely one of those two…
Its Canada doesn't let them call it cheese, their FDA has higher quality restrictions (generally) compared to the US

FDA regulates that cheese has to be at least 51% cheese curds, which kraft is not. It can be called “Mac and cheese” because that’s the category of food; it can be “cheesiest” cheese-like substance, but the “cheese” itself cannot be called cheese (Just like almost any “American cheese”)
Only reason I know is I recently looked it up out of curiosity since I was unsure if what people kept saying was true and it turns out it is.
Ultimately, it’s still the same stuff as any other cheese, it’s just additives and ratios to make it easier to cook with and less likely for a low-skilled cook to mess it up

We can't call certain products "cheese" either. Velveeta and kraft slices come to mind. We, the public, ignore these bugouisise rules and call shit whatever we want. By this virtue, both the products and the countries are the same. I have solved the riddle!
Actually, the US has pretty strict regulations on what can legally be called cheese. I guarantee you there are caveats on the box like saying it's "cheese flavor" or "cheese food product." There's a whole ranking of different phrases you're allowed to use as a manufacturer depending on the milk content of the "cheese" in question.

This is absolutely uncanny... Emmymade just put out a comparison video of KD vs Kraft macaroni and cheese yesterday, with flavor boosts! (Unfortunately she got the thick and creamy US version accidentally, so the comparison wasn't fair).

I gotta say, Justin saying he is uniquely positioned, in response to Travis trying to put under scrutiny the statement that KD and Mac and Cheese are the same, did not hit me that yes, he is actually uniquely positioned as he now owns a bunch of KD and can get some Mac and Cheese, as such he is uniquely positioned to prove his statement and as such has grabbed my funny bone and mangled it til I coughed from laughter. Kraft Mac and KD are slightly different in flavour, not super noticeable but slight(I'm a Canadian who has a lot of family in the US and have been back and forth a lot and as a rule the same brand can taste WAY different depending on which country you are in)

Fun fact: They're not the same. Canada made a slight change to their recipe some years back and now it tastes weird. To the point where my sister and I noticed and stopped eating it BEFORE finding out about the change. Meanwhile the US stuff tastes the same. 😂
