It's funny when I look back at this and realize how much my interests and life have changed. Now, all the things I want are more available in Cambodia. This video was after a huge panic attack and all I wanted was familiarity. I'm eagerly looking forward to returning to Siem Reap in May of 2024. I look forward to exploring a LOT more, trying foods I didn't try last time, taking trips to nearby countries, and settling into a nice, mellow life in Cambodia.
You are so humble and honest. Love you. One of the few things I will miss, like you, will be the live concerts (metal, blues). Is the day to day life really all about haggling and avoiding scams? I hope there is also a lot of fun and possibilities of making Khmer friends? The difficult language is a different story.😊
Thank you! There is a lot of haggling if you go to wet markets, but not if you go to grocery stores. However, grocery stores will cost more. It's not really as scammy as many people make it sound. We do often get charged more than locals, but then again, they're making an average of only $200/month. It's certainly easy to meet people and make friends as long as you're mellow and friendly with people.

You gave it a chance which is more than what ppl can say, you were honest with yourself and us which is tough, but above all you realized what makes you happy and there is nothing wrong with that. One last thing that is a plus if you go back home, all the money you make in the states will be going towards your Social Security, so in your older ages you will have more money coming to you monthly. Which is an added bonus! I'm going to Cambodia but I'm 60 and I've getting my social security which is $1,600 a month, just something to think about.
Do what makes you happy, man. At least you gave it a shot, which is way better than asking "what if?". Personally, I only have 1 real friend here. I love and will miss my family dearly, but I rarely see them as is(besides my grandparents, whom I live with atm). I've been a loner here in Indiana for years now lol. I know I'll miss home more than I think I will, but I'm sure I'll manage. Best of luck on your move back to the States, brother.
