Just got back from a 4 day off-roading trip to New Mexico from Texas in my 2022 PW on 37's. I averaged a real world 13.6 mpg for the entire trip, yes most of the trip was highway miles but I was still pleased. No one expects better from a 8,500 lb. vehicle with a large V8.
For such a heavy truck. This is in line with the industry. Excellent results for 40 inch tires IMO. Currently getting 11-15 mpg in a 2004 Land Cruiser on 33s . Stock gearing . 1000lbs of extra gear .
I just broke 1000 miles on my 24 pw vs still have the break in oil Gonna change next week. I’m still in the 11.3 mpg but on the hwy long trip got 14.5 Once break in an some oil changes completed I think mileage will get a little better as long as my foot is light on the pedal
@ congratulations on your power wagon. I finally figured out how to reset the mpg calculator on the truck. It’s hanging right at 12.5 mpg around town. I’m happy with that for what it is. On 60 mph roads with infrequent stops it can get up to 16mpg. I really didn’t expect that. Got a 500 mile trip to Georgia in about a month. Will see what it does on long highway trips, then how it does in the mountains.
Cool vid dude. My 21 PW has 35's, everything else stock. I get 16-18 on the highway. My stock 2014 GMC 1/2 ton with the wimpy 5.3 only got 20 highway in ideal conditions. Not bad. Then again, if a guy wants to worship good fuel mileage, ride a bike. I couldn't care less.
Unless you changed your gears you actually get better mileage on the highway than 33’s ,unfortunately you lose off-road gearing with stock 4:10 . 33’s actually have a lower range than 40’s. Just do the math. Numbers don’t lie
@@born2win262 that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The difference in time you spend at the pump on a truck like my 21 PW that gets 14 combined average compared to 17 combined average like my old 2014 GMC 1/2 ton is negligible.
Thanks for the vids bro...I just ordered a 22 PW and Carli Suspension, Methods and 37s....Cant wait to give it hell in my bucket list truck...Did you re-gear, or still running the 4:10s? I'm thinking of putting 4:56s in....
What up playa pimp. With the Pro-Cal switch I was able to recalibrate the speedo. I was also able to change the tire pressure setting, in the computer. Factory is something like 60 in front, 65 in rear. The tires had max PSI of 36. Gears: I have not re-geared. When I spoke with Yukon and Nitro gears, no one offers gears for the 5th gen Ram 2500's. If you find anyone who does, let me know. I am looking to bump to 4.88's.
Yes, rubs on Sway bar. I run a 13.50 which hits the sway bar sooner. Also hits radius arm on back. AEV makes a restrictor, for turning. But for what I do, I find obstacles where I can use full turn radius, and helps me complete a climb. So I have opted to use my judgement on daily driving without restricting.
Is your truck regeared or is it the stick 4.10s? Edited: I read through the comment again. I didn't catch it the first time. You mentioned you are running the stock gears 4.10. Thanks you for this vid.
What up Nick. At the time of filming, I was on stock suspension. I am now running a thuren leveling kit, with king shocks. Note: to fit 40's on stock suspension, I trimmed fenders and made a few tidy cuts to cab and body mount cradle. I'll drop an edit on the cuts and my suggestions soon.
Is that accounting for speedometer error at all? Did you change gears to run the 40s? If not did you remap the computer or put a tuner in the compensate for the lower speed I want to reading at the same speed traveled?
Do you have any engine performance parts on your truck? I've been looking around to see if I could find a Power Wagon with a Venomaire intake on it. Theres no videos at all. You should put a Venomaire intake on your Power Wagon and let me know
I do not have any engine mods yet. Who knows, those may come. I am, generally speaking, trying to shy away from drivetrain changes. Engine/Transmission, to not void those warranties haha. We will see how it plays out. . . I may have to just scrap those plans and go for it.
@@SeguroOffroad Ok, then maybe I will put the Venomaire intake on and let you know how it works 👍. They said its suppose to give 20% more mpg, 30% more power.
Good Morning Chief, i'm in Phx too 🙌🏽. Did you do the install, trimming, cutting yourself? I've got the same amazing identical truck, looking to put some 38s but every shop wants to lift it at least 8", i don't want to lift it more than i have to...
Yo, You can fit 40 on factory suspension . . . if you are willing to cut lol. When I committed to 40's, I was on factory suspension. My last trail run was John Bull, in bear, with factory suspension and 40's. Hit me up on instagrams, facebooks or contact me via www.segurooffroad.com.
Lifting it only marginally helps with larger tire clearance. When you flex the tires they still travel thru the wheel wells unless the suspension doesn’t allow the full flex. I ran 37s on the stock suspension before I put on the Thuren/Carli lift. It did not rub then at full lock or full articulation. Now looking to go to 38s next. I will have to make some more room in the inner fender liner and stock bumper to fully clear 38s while using the truck for offroading. I don’t hold back on my truck offroad kinda like Seguro and his truck.
What size lift are you running to fit 40s? Looks like you did some trimming. I'm looking to fit 40s with my existing 6" lift. Any info would be much appreciated.
At the time of this filming, stock suspension on a Power Wagon, which is 2 inches higher than a standard 2500. I trimmed fenders and cut the cab back, and resealed. I still had rubbing, at full articulation, but nothing damaging. Once I bumped to a Thuren Leveling kit, the rubbing is gone.
No lift, I trimmed fenders and cut some of the cab away. Eventually I got a Thuren Leveling kit, 2 inch in front and 1 inch lift in rear. But that a year after putting 40's on.
Beginning of the Video was with 35's. I have not re-geared and the truck is doing what it needs to do, off-road. I am sure I can improve gas mileage on the road. However, from my last conversation, no one is producing gears for 5th Gen Ram 2500's. Until I find a manufacturer who does, I will be rocking the stock gears.

How in Hades did you do that. Mine does only 8.7mpg o mixed city and highway! I get 12 mpg on the highway

highway miles truck alone is one thing, towing a 7,000# trailer another, and off road 4Wd a third. Thanks for the video
I would be happy to see my 2024 on factory tires get above 11 mpg, lol. It’s been in the 10s for 500 miles.

You could put 35s without a lift and no running? Darn good mpg. My dad is getting 16 on his 2020 Tacoma TRD.
Hey did you ever post that video on what you had to do to fit 40s with a factory suspension
Stock tires on my 2012 and I'm getting just under 17mpg. I get about 7mpg pulling my 4,000 pound camper.
How far can you drive on a tank a fuel and can you install a larger tank or is their room for a second tank?
I get 16-18 mpg highway with 35's no lift. So I'd say your doing good with 40's😊
excellent setup
I drive a 22 power wagon on 35’s. Barely getting 11
Well here is me on 40's. Drive a little less aggressive.
I get 7 mpg on 37s on my 21 but I kinda drive stupid

How you liking that the long tube headers, driving city and highway?
Damn u got 40” tires on a power wagon?!?!
You need 4.88 Gear it will help a lot and give a little fuel economy back
And move this big ol 40's.

Good stuff but the only way to get actual fuel economy is to hand calculate it. It’ll be lower I’d bet.

You have a guide or a list of upgrades you did to rock the 40s? Rubbing is the biggest issue. Did you cut the fenders?
I have to edit the video clips. I have all the clips from the work, just have not structured them. I'll get it together and out.
