Thank you Jono for all your teachings. This is really precious. What I would like to learn more about is the steps to do the background well. I started a hands drawing that I really liked and I screwed it when it came to the dark background. I mixed lin seed oil with graphite powder and went too close to the contours of my unachieved drawing. What happened is that when I wanted to add some darkness on the skin, I has created a greasy line on it and it was just impossible to erase or to blend... Thank you again for everything you do. 🙏🏻
Same goes with hair. I try to make all the individual pieces of hair and it looks bad. In reality, you see some individual pieces of hair at some parts and just volume at some other parts. It's not just to save time but to make the drawing more accurate so you hit two birds with one stone. In essence, putting too much detail is just as bad as not putting enough detail.
I absolutely get lost in your art! Love listening to you and the advice you impart to all of us art lovers out there. Thank you. You are such an inspiration to me.
@@JonoDry its not just a bit, but its a whole lot, by watching you, i ended up wanting to be better and ended up pursuing a dream i have long forgotten thank you.. 😊
@@JonoDry hey jono i have been following your youtube channel since THE MASK and the trick you proposed regarding detailing in this video is really cool . I personally want to try this stuff .This video explains a lot but it would be really helpful if you upload give a short video where you draw skin details and have a voice over to explain it a bit more.Love your art works and sorry for using someone elses chat section as i really didn't knew how to contact .
One of the biggest lessons for any creatives is more often than not, "less is more" Another solid video. Love the quality of your content man. Stay winning!
I doubt he does. Most masters don't need to, and he's definitely a master. Some people graph, and some people get good at measuring with their pencil or tool, however that is a hard skill to master. Some use a type of tension absorbing string to measure by hand certain points that makes getting proportions easier. Most artists who have put in their 10000 hours no longer need these methods. I also think what he does is too big for any of those methods. It is possible he makes smaller versions first and figures out how to block out the areas of space and lines properly while also not taking too much time.
Brody Morris SO many people mistakenly think “masters” are so skilled they don’t need any additional tools or techniques to draw accurately and/or realistically, which really pisses me off because A. There are thousands of ways to draw, so you can’t sum up the “master’s” way like there’s only one go-to AND, B. Plenty of masters graph, measure with tools, and even trace! It’s the end result that matters. Of course they don’t share their secrets if it means people will perceive them as less of a master. A master will use whatever ways he/she desires and no one will know the difference because a novice cannot use those same tools and get a master’s results!
Marshall Grayvold I personally use a proportional divider, or sometimes I just measure from one shape to another. I know all the tricks and appreciate them all. A good artist knows different methods and how to apply them.
I’m curious about the subject matter you choose, between simply being representative images, to deeper, symbolic messages. You’re an incredible talent. Thanks for sharing 🙏
This is a jono dry legendary ....i never seen before like that kind of draw....it is not realistic it is a hyper and supersonic realistic draw ....love u lot
Congrats on the SPONSOR Jono! You definitely deserve it, as always keep up the great work brother and keep the artwork rolling!! I don't know you on a personal level, but I wish I did, you really seem like a very humble individual and very down to earth, and most of how we perceive you comes across in your art! Namaste brother!
You explained perfectly the nuance of how the viewers mind and imagination should be featured in our work. Tangible evidence of what cam make art interesting. Thank you.
Great tip about when to add more detail. I totally got it! Love what you do and sometimes, your videos tell more than words ever could. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, this is what makes me want to push myself to better my own art.
You are absolutely amazing to watch and see your work come to life! I've always wondered how this was accomplished, thank you for teaching me. Please keep up your wonderful works!
Very helpful video, thank you. I never thought about how there are little geometric patterns in skin texture such as under eyes. Your drawings are stunning, of course.
I really love your tips. I work in watercolor mostly, but you techniques and ideas about limiting the details translates really well to my medium as well.
I'm sure I can speak for more than just myself when I say it would be wonderful to see you show the process first hand of how to lay the lines and capture the highlights and remove them with a kneadable eraser or other removal tool. Thanks for all of your outstanding videos. 🙏🏼
Hi Jono, u always inspired me,, and hope u always give new ideas for art work again, yours work is soooooo realistic and with silky smooth textures,it shows that you have god gifted talent, as you are doing so well,, god bless you
Thanks for the tips man. I'd really love to see a video on how you capture your reference. I know that probably takes up a lot of the time in your prelim process, and seeing how an artist prepares before the rendering process is always of interest. Keep up the great work :)
I just wanted to let you know that I always watch your videos for inspiration and advice I know you probably hear that all the time because your work is so amazing but I thought you should know …..showing your process and sharing advice is so helpful for me and I’ve implemented them to my work ❤️
New to the channel and I have to say your work is absolutely fantastic. I picked up a tip a while ago which has helped massively about not over doing/or seeing if you’re on the right track so to speak. By taking regular photos, it’s amazing how see more when you look at your work from a different point of view.
I really appreciate your work Jono..!! Keep it up.. I also try to learn things after watching your videos. You are a great inspiration for me, also I like your work place.. Thanks for sharing your beautiful work.😊😊
Your work is amazing. Actually had inspired me to start drawing again. It's a shame you're not more well-known and selling these for hundreds of thousands of dollars or more. These, which actually take time and skill are just on your UA-cam as far as I know, yet a Jackson Pollock, which anyone could do, sell for tens of millions of dollars. Should be the other way around.
Love your videos. Great tips, and your explanations are clear and succinct. Thanks so much for sharing. Trying to teach myself, so these resources are invaluable.
I felt the most interesting point was how you said that the mind can be tricked into filling in some details by itself when a certain amount of details has been drawn. Like that delicate balance to avoid going over the tipping point of drawing excessive details. Perhaps the excessive details will drown out the need for the brain to piece the info together… I know what you mean, but just so hard to put into words! 😅 In a nutshell don’t get caught up in replicating details obsessively 👍 thanks so much! This is probably what I needed all this time 😄🙏
I loved that he said that. A lot of artists, especially ones just starting out, get so hung up on detail. However, just the indication of something or the illusion of detail can be so much more powerful than spending hours & hours on the tiniest things.
You really inspire me jono.. there are too many artists around but your work.. there z just sumtin bout it.. ur work z unique.. and am a big fan..I'll get there too.. I know, one day..

You are extremely generous to share these tips😭😭😭
Beautiful, thank you so much, such an amazing tutorial. Informative and personal. Just amazing.
There are things you cannot explain in art, it's just a feeling and in you.
For a good artist is always hard to explain art work, the best way is you have to experienced for you self
The only way to accomplish any goal is by practicing, working along each error to perfection. Thanks for the upload.
It's fascinating, beautiful.
Thank you for sharing.
I think you explained yourself very well. The point about loading the detail in the halftone transitions is well taken.
A peek into your mind about your inspiration for your artwork would be amazing.
It feels a bit scary to do something like because I feel it would be very personal. But I might try.
No pressure! I know our minds are very deep places.
