Hello from hendersonville tn usa ! . I just want to say I really enjoyed these build videos. Im a retired 49yr old BMX racer from the 90s with bad knees who still rides on weekends.. However I never rode mtb slope style until I found your vids a few months back. I have to honestly say you have re kindled my love for bikes. Thanks for that. Keep up the hard work... Its inspiring to watch. Oh yea that 13th thing... I was born on Nov 13 ..1972... 13 is my fav #. 👊
I would go for the "Floater" as the name of the quarter/hip, cause that's a surf maneuver where you float across the breaking part of a wave to drop back into the green, unbroken wave 😊 fits your floaty flairs quite well too 😄
Nahh...a floater is more like a speed jump as it's more of a high speed and speed maintaining maneuver... I'd call it a "air reverse" as it can only be done on air sections (part of the wave with steep lip)
If you make a roll in to the second feature you have to call it "The Back Door". Pipeline has a famous wave off to the viewers left called back door and I feel it would work well for the secondary roll in. Also I believe there is another wave near pipe that's called "Off The Wall" that could be used for you know, the giant wall you've built lol.
You should turn this whole first part into a full dirt halfpipe! Ben would shred that SO HARD!!! It'd solve the problem of there being a giant scary bank on the landing and you'd also have the option of dropping in normally or using the 90 degree hip to get some serious air! If you're worried about doing all that work by hand, you can always work on another line until you have the digger again! So much potential in one location!
You could also drop / jump into the halfpipe from the hill you had the slide on for a tamer and less technical way to enter the pipeline with some speed.
Few names for the surf based theme - The Box (famous slab wave in aus) - The Slab ( Type of wave that is very steep and powerful) - Floater ~ name for like a wall ride feature ( surf trick where you float on top of the wave) - Cutback ~ potentially name for a berm ( surf truck where you turn the surf board around ) - off the wall ~ famous beach right next to pipeline - hang 10/ hang 5 ( longboard trick where you put your toes over the nose of the board) - jaws/Nazaré/Sunset ( all big wave spots so could use for biggest feature) - cribbar ( big wave spot here in England 🏴) Also think integrating Kelly slater into a name would be sick as he’s the G.O.A.T in the surfing world
Some good names, I was thinking 'JAWS'!!!! After the monstrous big wave surf spot off the coast of Peahi. Also if you case or hit the front wheel and end up going over the bars then it perfectly describes the area of your body which is gonna end up in 1000 pieces. Thoughts??
You should really add guttering around the bridge and the barn next to the dirt pile to use to collect more water for the pond. Keep up the great work!
U are such a beast Matt keep it up I love the playground series. I don’t know how u hit them jumps but it’s just amazing keep making the playground bigger and more jumps. My favourite part of the playground series is the builds lapse. Well done matt 👏🤩
I honestly think you should make the whole section after the dirt bridge into a quarter pipe on both sides (going around the existing features) It would be a lot of work but I feel like it would be worth it because it would basically be the only full dirt halfpipe in existence and it would allow for some sick transfers from and too the already existing features!!
Tell you what mate, just the whole hearted honesty behind your content is what really sells it! would have been easy to leave out all the fails, mistakes etc and just have a clip of it finished and working. Same goes for your worlds first series like the gainer. It’s always amazing when people like yourself in a position of influence and success in a sport show how real you are, and not just someone born onto a bike 🙌 this episode made that stand out for me as I’ve been struggling to build a pump track in my garden for my boys, been watching more of your videos to see where I’m going wrong, so just to hear you occasionally build something that needs tweaking, gave me hope 🤣👍👍 keep it up mate 👍
That first hip over the bridge should be called "The Drop", where just like in surfing, you are starting out the line with a big drop in elevation and ripping a bottom turn to hit the first section. I heard someone call the second quarterpipe "The Floater," I like that, also "A-Frame" might be cool - like a wave that has a curl in each direction, the takeoff and landing look a but like one.
next feature: a split: halfpipe right back onto the landing of the bridge jump (so you can session the quarter pipes in a loop) and a big wall ride left further into the pipeline.
If you're going with "Pipeline" and the surf theme, then that sick feature has to be called "The A-Frame" . An A-Frame is a wave (such as the oh so epic Nazare in Portugal) that forms an "A" shape at its peak right before it breaks, and look at that feature you guys have built, it's basically a giant dirt "A" in the side of the valley! Absolutely loving following the playground series so far, cannot wait to see what comes next!
When this series wraps up, please make one epic build lapse with all the build lapses from every episode strung together. That on a loop would be an epic screen saver
Hip over the bridge - The Drop Quarter - Floater or A-Frame Found your channel when the playground started and easily become one of my favourite channels! Every video is so much fun!
I love the idea of the line being called Pipeline. Some more ideas : If you go down to the right or make a roll in on a feature off the other way then you should call it Backdoor. Pipeline has a left which is known as Pipe and the Right is known as Backdoor. Also further down from Backdoor you have Off The Wall which would be a sick name for a wall ride if you put one in. You can also use name from other spots on the north shore like Rocky Point, Chuns, Pupukea or Leftovers for whatever you do at the end. Definitely think that the new feature should be called 'JAWS'!! After the monstrous big wave surf spot off the coast of Peahi. Also if you case or hit the front wheel and end up going over the bars then it perfectly describes the area of your body which is gonna end up in 1000 pieces. Thoughts??
Longing for a huge, flowy, atleast 10 in a row floaty doubles through the whole place. All these features are great but nothing beats a big train through an amazingly built set of trails
You should name the quarter pipe feature “Jaws” which is arguably the biggest high performance wave in the world. Or reserve that name for the biggest feature in the line.
You should name the feature “off the wall” because off the wall is a wave at pipeline in Hawaii. It is right next to pipeline and matches the theme, off the wall is also a very steep wave just like the steepness of the new feature. You could also name it “A frame” because that is a type of wave that goes both directions and it’s shaped like an A kind of like the hip.
You put so much exert into your videos it is crazy I love them they inspire me to mountain and your such a good person you work sir hard on these videos
Call it “Aloha” as it’s how you say hello in Hawaii which is where pipeline is. Also the first big feature in the line like an introduction. Love what you got going on soooo sick!!🤙🏽
Matt I think a cool idea would to be to go to the left of the first hip into a whale tale berm mix then go into the big hip from there so that Ben and Jamey can hit it!👍👍👍👍
yes it will always happen like that with the heavy rocks finding down the bottom, from runny digger a lot of my life when you are moving piles of dirt i always drop the dirt in the center of the pile and drop it from 2 feet or higher above the pile and all the crap and stuff falls to the side. i found that interesting it happened with the slide. love how ya all make it work without all the crazy machines. good job guys. and Jamie is the man
Matt I’m absolutely loving the commitment and your amazing Videos recently. Keep up the great work and I so appreciate you being candid and giving us an insight. Fantastic!
I’d call it the hipe-out, being a steezy hip an “wipeout” for the surf theme, considering a few minor wipeouts on the first few flair runs! All in all another solid bud an great build laps! Legends
this series is my favorite thing on youtube rn, thank you for the entertainment keep em coming! Cant wait to come back to this 5 years from now and re watch this whole thing again from beginnig to end
I recon you should call it the ‘QUARTER SLIDE’ as you used a slide to make it and it’s a quarter and quarter slide works well, it also fits with the water theme. Hope you enjoy Matt
Gotta name the dirt quarter pipe thing the “Hang-ten”!! Place is looking gnarly boys! I’m off the bike for another 4 weeks cause I shattered my collarbone coming off a drop, had surgery now there is 5 screws and a 4” plate in my shoulder! Your videos have been keeping me sane at home!!
Dude! Make the landing of the quarter pipe/hip hipopipe, a huge roll in for the top of the hill. The backwards travel won’t matter because you can go higher/faster and still land on the roller. You can also session whatever comes next from the top of the hill. Makes perfect sense!
You could name the hip "Jaws". Goes with the Hawaiian surf theme of pipeline. Jaws is one of the heaviest waves in Hawaii and sounds like this will be the heaviest feature in the line! Awesome content - Cheers!
The name "Rip Curl" was taken from a vee-bottom surfboard that co-founder Warbrick bought in 1968, upon which he'd written "Rip Curl Hot Dog." The words didn't mean anything, he later admitted. "Except ripping was groovy; surfing the curl was groovy; we wanted to be groovy - so that was it." And what a name for a massive dirt quarter pipe. THE RIP CURL!!!
I like how you were using the hip landing as a roll in/ starting point for the quarter! Would love to see you create some sort of mini spine or another takeoff that connects from the rollers giving you two different approaches/ speeds into the quarter! Love the content and I can’t wait for the next build!
The Barrel - a tube, the curl of the wave, the hollow part of a wave when it is breaking, and one of the most sought after things in surfing The Backdoor - going inside a tube/barrel, also known as the curl of the wave, from behind its peak The white cap - As they grow, the waves become more unstable, with the force of gravity tugging at their tallest, weakest points. This causes the crests of the waves to break apart into a mass of droplets and bubbles, which scatter the surrounding light in every direction, creating the familiar white crest of a breaking wave.
Would look so sick if the next feature was a big wave like berm that is symmetrical to the berm on Jamie’s line . Think of the drone shots of two people riding each line and hitting the berms at the same time 😍
4:44 Matt - Adding a lander so you can double over the bridge, then a little double pump roller and a lip to jump into the berm back to the fakie line. Would be sick!
After the new quarter pipe/hip, for the next feature, you could have a takeoff, that sends you in to a vertical/nearly vertical whale tail facing inwards. Then you hop off back to normal and go back down the valley. So it would kind of be a wallride, but it would be curved and maybe even made of dirt! Also on the first hip, you could jump it straight have a landing, roller, then another take off to jump into the berm on Jamie's line.
These playground videos can't come quick enough!!!🙌
They’re planning, building, riding, filming, and editing 2 videos a week and you’re really talking about quicker? Cmon man..
@@padovann It's just a figure of speech to say you really look forward to them lol, it's not that deep
@@padovann Why so serious?🤦♂️🤣

Pleeeeeease do this
Agree! Feel like it’s crying out for this 👍
Yes please do this
This sounds like a fun idea!
CURVED WALL RIDE would look so amazing and would be able to loop back in to the valley or like a bowl with a exit.
Love the content
Few names for the surf based theme
- The Box (famous slab wave in aus)
- The Slab ( Type of wave that is very steep and powerful)
- Floater ~ name for like a wall ride feature ( surf trick where you float on top of the wave)
- Cutback ~ potentially name for a berm ( surf truck where you turn the surf board around )
- off the wall ~ famous beach right next to pipeline
- hang 10/ hang 5 ( longboard trick where you put your toes over the nose of the board)
- jaws/Nazaré/Sunset ( all big wave spots so could use for biggest feature)
- cribbar ( big wave spot here in England 🏴)
Also think integrating Kelly slater into a name would be sick as he’s the G.O.A.T in the surfing world
Jeez bro this is next level I hope he picks one of yours
@@aaronnortje3474 cheers mate 🤙

I was about to post "Jaws" or "Cut back" as names but saw your post so I will support that here.
The explosion after the tool hits the ground just fits in every video, essential.
You should really add guttering around the bridge and the barn next to the dirt pile to use to collect more water for the pond. Keep up the great work!

Have you ever thought about just building a straight dirt half pipe so Ben would love it and you could send some cool tricks and drop ins etc
I've been pushing for a full dirt halfpipe since the last video!
Should totally call that new feature “POINT BREAK”! Epic feature and an epic film.
That’s called a half pipe
I agree
save off the wall for a wall ride

Making the bridge proper would look sick. Nice job.
Building jumps is an art and you have an extreme amount of talent.

I heard someone call the second quarterpipe "The Floater," I like that, also "A-Frame" might be cool - like a wave that has a curl in each direction, the takeoff and landing look a but like one.
Up
The footage of Jamie kicking the football up the landing makes me lol every time
Also lol at "bit of allen key"
Great name for the hip/quarter could be backdoor or off the wall, which are both breaks right next to pipeline!
I love that you called this an adult setting. Being the playground for bikes and Nomads. 😁🤘
next feature: a split: halfpipe right back onto the landing of the bridge jump (so you can session the quarter pipes in a loop) and a big wall ride left further into the pipeline.

Hip over the bridge - The Drop
Quarter - Floater or A-Frame
Found your channel when the playground started and easily become one of my favourite channels! Every video is so much fun!

Anyone else addicted to this series?

For the name, I would call it the "happy pipe", cause it does a big smile with the landing and the kick 😊
You should name the quarter pipe feature “Jaws” which is arguably the biggest high performance wave in the world. Or reserve that name for the biggest feature in the line.
Looks so good now

I thought of naming the hip "Tsunami" cuz it looks like a monstrous wave. Great episode btw! Love the content, keep up the amazing work! Legends ;)
Yeah I thought the same thing, especially if he makes the landing into a roll in like he talked about. It would look even more like a giant wave.
can't get enough of this guys. just awesome to see. I don't even ride bikes. But looks so fun to ride
Whens part 14 coming ?
I was so ready for a Squarespace advert when Matt started talking about the dirt slide.
Call it “Aloha” as it’s how you say hello in Hawaii which is where pipeline is. Also the first big feature in the line like an introduction. Love what you got going on soooo sick!!🤙🏽
Hi Matt jones! I just want to say thank you for inspiring me to make my own little dirt jump in my back yard, thank you have a great day or night!
This playground series is awesome!!
I think the "great wave" would be sick
I think it should be called the “Cut Back” 😎
!!YES MATE!! the Helfare Playground is begun. You need more vert so you can hit it without tagging/casing.
I love Ben’s gasp at the explosion🤣🤣😎👍🤟
You should call the new hip the wave 🌊
Absolutely love the make your own luck!!!!
HAHA! That dirt slide bit was mesmerizing.
Literally watch every second of these and I’m so glad i came across this on day 2 🙌
Surfing + Hip = Sharkira V2
Hips never lie
Matt you have to be one off the funniest person to me lol! Keep up the great work! + Ben and Jamie!

New feature should be called "Riptide", which means abrupt changes in depth of waves... seems apt! Keep up the good work lads.
That looks like a perfect place for a walk ride
Matt I’m absolutely loving the commitment and your amazing Videos recently. Keep up the great work and I so appreciate you being candid and giving us an insight. Fantastic!
In the concept of this world you make your own luck🙌🙌
Dirt slide is amazing !! Haha
So Creative
I’d call it the hipe-out, being a steezy hip an “wipeout” for the surf theme, considering a few minor wipeouts on the first few flair runs! All in all another solid bud an great build laps! Legends
I think you should call it the Barrel because you thought you were going to go over the bars and a barrel goes over the top. Great video matt!
And barrels are also quite lucky to get in surfing!!
this series is my favorite thing on youtube rn, thank you for the entertainment keep em coming! Cant wait to come back to this 5 years from now and re watch this whole thing again from beginnig to end
Excellent vid as usual guys. The valley looks amazing 👏
Maybe call it Grand Canyon. This sick valley looks like a canyon and even more with the color of the dirt you use. Dope serie thanks Matt !
I recon you should call it the ‘QUARTER SLIDE’ as you used a slide to make it and it’s a quarter and quarter slide works well, it also fits with the water theme. Hope you enjoy Matt
The kids slide to transfer dirt is genius!
keep the great work up matt

You could call the new jump the hipopipeamus. Keep up the work guys, these videos are sick
Big Kahuna. Look forward to these vids. Thanks for the content.
I would go with tsunami for how high you are above the ground and you are going with the pipeline!
Love the series!
I don't even mountain bike but I haven't missed an episode. Awesome stuff keep up the good work!
Call the whole section “The Bunker” ✌🏻🔥🔥🔥
Hi gents, brilliant Vlog as always. Definitely need to call the feature ‘Point break’. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to Ep14 🤘🏻
the maverick!!!!! for the quarter hip
“Tsunami” would be a great name to fit the ocean/surf theme plus it compliments the sheer size of the quarter
I love the Pipelines/Surfing theme. You should call the first hip The Tow In, as surfers get a tow from a jet ski into big waves 🤙
I think you should call it The hip halfpipe HIPSTER!!! I think it would sound sick! Anyway I love your vids, Such an inspiration!!
You could call it the rip as a hip is technically a sudden change of direction like a riptide.. loving the playground series, long may it continue 👍
Dude! Make the landing of the quarter pipe/hip hipopipe, a huge roll in for the top of the hill. The backwards travel won’t matter because you can go higher/faster and still land on the roller. You can also session whatever comes next from the top of the hill. Makes perfect sense!
Well done guys it looks so good and you always make me laugh.LEGENDS.
stoked on this series
Having to be so precise it needs to be called Jaws. The bid wave surf break in Hawaii.
Great clips boys, love watching.
Tango
You boys have some strong backs!!
The slide was a master stroke of genius 😂
The shovel explosion gets me every time😂
You could name the hip "Jaws". Goes with the Hawaiian surf theme of pipeline. Jaws is one of the heaviest waves in Hawaii and sounds like this will be the heaviest feature in the line! Awesome content - Cheers!
Good work so far
The name "Rip Curl" was taken from a vee-bottom surfboard that co-founder Warbrick bought in 1968, upon which he'd written "Rip Curl Hot Dog." The words didn't mean anything, he later admitted. "Except ripping was groovy; surfing the curl was groovy; we wanted to be groovy - so that was it." And what a name for a massive dirt quarter pipe. THE RIP CURL!!!

Would love to see you create some sort of mini spine or another takeoff that connects from the rollers giving you two different approaches/ speeds into the quarter! Love the content and I can’t wait for the next build!
I think the new hip should be called "Ticket to the moon"👍
The casing king!
The Barrel - a tube, the curl of the wave, the hollow part of a wave when it is breaking, and one of the most sought after things in surfing
The Backdoor - going inside a tube/barrel, also known as the curl of the wave, from behind its peak
The white cap - As they grow, the waves become more unstable, with the force of gravity tugging at their tallest, weakest points. This causes the crests of the waves to break apart into a mass of droplets and bubbles, which scatter the surrounding light in every direction, creating the familiar white crest of a breaking wave.
1:43 Was not expecting that and I nearly spat my coffee out! hahaha
Cool project - but can I suggest you make an escape route from the pond for small creatures? That'll be a deathtrap for bunnies, hedgehogs and so-on.
I wish I could like more than once
Would look so sick if the next feature was a big wave like berm that is symmetrical to the berm on Jamie’s line . Think of the drone shots of two people riding each line and hitting the berms at the same time 😍
4:44 Matt - Adding a lander so you can double over the bridge, then a little double pump roller and a lip to jump into the berm back to the fakie line. Would be sick!
Nazaré, Portugal biggest wave ever surfed. Loving the vids keep up the good work!
After the new quarter pipe/hip, for the next feature, you could have a takeoff, that sends you in to a vertical/nearly vertical whale tail facing inwards.
