Dave has had an extremely difficult life. As a recovering alcoholic/addict myself, I know this with full conviction deep in my bones. Therefore, I am full of compassion and empathy for him. For anyone who has never dealt with the sheer horror and misery of addiction, consider yourself blessed beyond belief. And if you’ve asked yourself lately if you might be floating the line, do what it takes to stop NOW. It WILL be difficult, but nowhere near as terrible as it will be if continued. It leads to only 3 places: death, prison or institutionalization. God bless, fellow metalheads!

It's inspiring to see someone reaching out to literal strangers, just to help. If we all go arm in arm, we can help everyone to stand back up, together.
I'm 50 and going on 7 years of sobriety. This person is not lying. If you even think for a tiny spark of a millisecond, that maybe you shouldn't be doing that next hit, drink, bump, pill, needle, pipe, or whatever the fuck it is you're using, then you stop. I agree; it will be hard. But when us addicts continue we can't stop. I HAVE been to jail and I had been to so many rehabs, that I still don't remember. I finally had enough in 2015 and I can't exactly explain what changed..... for me it was a thing that each time I tried and failed to get clean, I always found that I was learning more about myself. Because the only thing I had that I paid attention to, was my addiction lol. But we all don't have the luxury to stop and start for 20 to 25 years like I did. Your next could be your last.
In my opinion, all of megadeths albums are actually quite unique from each other, yea some similar political lyric themes, but musically the albums are each unique
Megadeth right now at this moment is rising from the downfall. Saw them last week live and they were amazing, new album coming and the performance and UA-cam channel of Kiko also helps.
I don't think Megadeth is falling, in fact I think it's still rising. I've recently seen their fanbase highly increase lately. Their channel even gained a bunch of subscribers. I think the new generation is starting to get into metal, so I believe they'll rise in popularity soon enough. Plus, the newer generations include my own, and as someone who recently got into metal 4-5 years ago, I can say that its true--that newer generations still like metal.
I do hope new generations like metal, and bands like Hammerhedd have me convinced it's in good hands for the foreseeable future, but I hope bands better than Megadeth get that recognition.
Yes, the Sick, the Dying, and the Dead charted. Also LoMenzo is back with the band. Anyway, I hate people like the person running this channel. They are not good UA-camrs because they don't have original material so they have to resort to slander.
At one point in time my aunt saw Dave Mustaine after a concert and she wanted a picture with him he refused and only took pictures with men and literally took a picture with her male friend instead a few years later they meet again and I’m guessin this is when Dave got his shit together my aunt got a picture with everyone else and when Dave asked why she didn’t want one with him he said because he was a dick about it the first time and Dave apologized and said he was on drugs and what not.
I think this is a really bad way to listen to a band's discography. I used to be a big Megadeth fan, not as much anymore, but many of the albums I would never have listened to at the same time as one another, so listening to them back to back just guarantees you won't be in the right headspace for most of the albums. For example, I also think St. Anger is an underappreciated album, but it's not something I would just listen to casually, I need to be in the right space mentally and emotionally to enjoy it. Otherwise, it's shit.
Dave Mustaine is still out touring and Killing it try going through all the shit he went through and see how it works out for ya Bro,Dave Mustaine and Megadeaths music will stand the test of time.
The fact that you don't know how to capitalize or spell "Megadeth" aside, He's doing anything but killing it these days, he should do what Slayer did and retire.
Your words of truth are falling deaf ears my friend … This genius here with a UA-cam channel knows very little about Dave or Megadeth… or Thrash metal at all ..clearly he has done Fark all Research … Someone should let this “Wayne’s World” try-hard know .. that owning a few guitars and having a shitty you tube channel does not make you expert .. whinging.. whining about a very successful musician and band … makes him look like a very sad .. sore loser
If you’re in a band for this long there has to be lineup changes and it is obvious every musician are not the same. How ever the lineup changes has resulted in different tones , styles and compositions. I don’t think that Megadeth are falling apart they are still touring and writing. There are rarely people doing metal music this long.
You don’t need to have lineup changes for a change in sounds. Look at Rush and The Beatles. They each had only one lineup change very early in their careers but released most albums with the same lineup. Over the years they would sound different because they kept either looking for new influences or experimented with different instruments, equipment, or recording techniques.
Woah, I gotta disagree with you on So Far So Good So What . Set The World Afire, Liar are better than the Anarchy cover and I really like that cover. Hook in Mouth is an incredible song and one of the best complete thrash songs of all time. I love the part where he turns freedom into an acronym and who else has ever said “manure” in a song ? Dave is quite modest when you consider he never claims to have invented rap metal or “ new metal “ when he clearly raps in Liar . Lol . Seriously though you should give SFSGSW another chance and listen to the original not remastered version with the bass jacked and reverb all over it. There’s some cool riffs and in my opinion classic thrash songs. I actually probably prefer it over Killing and Peace Sells. I think the two albums should’ve been one keeping the best tracks from each and loosing the lessee tracks. Yeah I’m a big Megadeth fan and I’ll admit it. I also think during their peak the extra songs that were on soundtracks were excellent as well. Angry Again, Go to Hell, 99 Ways to Die come on ? Those songs are better than many other bands whole side of their classic albums. Music isn’t a competition I know and I won’t defend some of their modern albums. I happen to appreciate Dave outspokenness and habit of not sugar coating things. I don’t necessarily agree with everything but now days if you don’t agree with someone you can be labeled as a hater or worse. That is one of our biggest problems in my opinion, learning that you can disagree with someone quite drastically on any issue and that’s ok, respect their opinion as you would want yours to be respected, I have friends that I fundamental disagree with on many issues political ect, but we understand we’re not going to change each other’s mind and are still friends. I’m sorry I just don’t think something someone said or did 25 or 30 years ago should dictate the rest of their life nor dug up to destroy it. I got way off topic there. Back to Dave, he didn’t do himself any favors constantly blaming his other thrash band and measuring his success with their ruler . Dave also asked Dime to join Megadeth before Marty did and I feel confident he would’ve gladly accepted a donut from Dime . Ahem he he weak on ahem RIP, Dawn Patrol, but it’s a cool bass riff or intro maybe Dawn Patrol isn’t a song. She Wolf has one of Dave’s best lyrical hooks it’s almost a pop ear worm.
@@sixstringtv1 I said I didn’t agree with everything he said my friend, but I don’t mind anyone speaking his mind. I’m not sure if I’ve heard the actually comment about the woman having kids. I will however say that we do have women of all races, in the US that seem to have children to draw more money in government assistance. I understand that people don’t always plan and happy accidents happen but after 3 or four children you gotta know what’s causing it . He may have been addressing a black woman in which case it could’ve been spun or interpreted as racist . Dave’s guitar tech for years a really long time is a black guy named Willie . I don’t think he’s racist but people that learn right are often called racist as a straw man argument . I’ve grown and changed as a person and have held opinions that I no longer hold, I try to be open minded . You can’t graph new ideas on to a closed mind. @@sixstringtv1 when has Dave ever said anything racist? He called someone a fahhgit and talked shit about welfare babies. He never once mentioned skin colors and never does.
@@Geetarman69420 I just want to clarify I meant taking the great songs from Peace Sells and SFSGSW and making one legendary album and it would be right up there with RIP and Master Of Puppets. Killing although it’s not my favorite is a perfect thrash debut album and can’t be F’d with. As for the other topics a wise man who was also a little nuts too used to always say “Don’t laugh at something you don’t understand” I always think about him saying that whenever someone from another country wants to stoke up the “race” problem we have in the states. Someone watches the TV and says ooh they got a big problem with race over there. They dismiss anyone who doesn’t agree with their politics as a bigot. Cancel culture won’t work on metal because metal has never been mainstream and the community has always accepted everyone. The metal community has been diverse before being diverse was cool, people just don’t know it because it’s always underneath the mainstream and never taken seriously, but it is and will always be there and more accepting and diverse than any demographic of people you want to compare it to. People get online and try and get people riled up about something a celebrity said a quarter century ago and then they mail in their ballots without any research on the guy they’re voting to be ruler of the free world. Y’all want to cancel someone how about some of these career politicians that you can check their history on issues of race, gender or whatever else. I’m sorry man someone calling out Dave Mustaine or Pantera for being racist while hanging on every word Corn Pop says. Race will continue to be a problem in the US as long as the citizens allow ourselves to be divided by it . Anyone from the outside looking in should bite their tongue until they’ve studied the history of the Democratic Party and their part in race relations. The republicans aren’t much better either but guess what the republicans were in favor of civil rights and the democrats weren’t. The democrats care about minorities every couple years they roll through and farm votes. Republicans do the same thing to white conservatives. We need a real third option.
I’m glad you see KIMB in such good light, its my favourite of their albums bar none, I just love the sound of it and the raw angry energy of it all. And those guitar solos are ridiculous
The solos are funny as fuck but great at the same time, one of my favorite thrash albums of all time, which is why I'm sad that they fell of like that 😭😭
@@sixstringtv1 What I've noticed with Megadeth and the fans who buy into anything Dave does seem to be of the thinking "If it's fast and heavy then it'll work." That is not what I want to hear from a guy that wrote songs like Last Rites, Wake Up Dead, This Was My Life etc..those songs have personality and individuality. Each one is a personalized story. This current stuff he's been doing sounds like one long Terminator/Political/Sc-Fi War soundtrack where all the songs bleed into each other. Dave lost the plot somewhere. I love those first 5 Megadeth records.
@@sixstringtv1 I hate them as well but we have to pay attention and stay tuned never know what could go down. Kind of like thieves I don't like them but I always have to pay attention and stay aware that they don't steal anything of mine. Wouldn't it be nice if this 2 things weren't part of life but we have to learn to live with them.
I'm unsure if Dave Mustaine is entirely in charge of his own mind/in touch with reality these days(however you want to phrase it). There's an interview I read where he was talking about Kiko and he said "Yeah so Kiko was just playing like bars and clubs before he joined Megadeth" which is untrue as Kiko was in Angra until 2015.
@@sixstringtv1 Just a word of advice for whatever it's worth, commenting primarily to argue with your "fan base" or people who consume your content when you have 18.6k subscribers is questionable at best, better off to not respond and move on, especially considering you fail to offer any sort of intellectual rebuttal other than " yea bro your wrong" I wish you luck in this industry because with an attitude like yours you will need it. You are also essentially competing in a realm of YT where you are literally remaking videos that have already been made by countless other UA-cam channels which is likely why their view counts are as low as they are, hot take but try to cover stuff that many many other music channels haven't covered already. Trust me when I say nobody cares what the cheapest guitar on EBAY is.
he is an absolute monster player, i would say that even if he did play solo's too, just his rhythm work is of the highest quality but he is also a great and underrated lead player, he has a crazy attack and some nasty blues licks mixed in too, his roughness contrasts so well with lead players he has used too, he just sounds dangerous and has fire!
So far, so good... so what! is still one of my favorite albums from Megadeth. It likely has a lot to do with the fact I was 13 when the album came out. Personally, I love the congested, suffocating & bass-heavy production. Much better than Metallica, Slayer or Anthrax's sounds in 1988.
For me, almost all of their albums are great even Risk is good, the best are Peace Sells, Rust in Peace, Countdown to Extinction, Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings for me, after 00 albums are much better then Metallica, Slayer, Testament, Anthrax...
@@vorpalblades I don't like Anthrax, but i don't care for etiquettes, Megadeth, Metallica's 4 albums, Kreator and Sodom until 90s, Testament the same, Dissection , Necrophobic, Entombed, Unanimated, Grand Belial's Key, Shining, Marduk, Mgla from black/death genre , Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Diamond Head are the best metal bands
Ehh Washington Is Next is more about King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream from The Book of Daniel. Also gotta disagree with Megadeth being anti religious when they have several biblically inspired songs and one of them being how Dave feels about Jesus, Never Walk Alone.
Discovered your channel by the malmsteen video, as both a megadeth and malmsteen's music fan i enjoyed your perspective on these topics, but i disagree with at least 80% of your video, you made very few points of why this was the actual downfall of megadeth and it's funny that you mention their new track as a rip off of themselves, what they've been praised on for years. being consistant with their music, even in the comments of the same video. sure they did some questionable stuff but each one was unique if you give the time to appreciate these albums, clearly you didn't, it seemed like you didn't even wanted to be there in the whole video, and i'm not saying this to attack you in any way, but compared to the malmsteen video, this is just a clickbaity lazy effort to "prove" a few points that didn't needed to be proved at all and not that important, but i was really expecting you mentioned diana, since she inspired many tracks to this day, and maybe why some of the band members were actually out, amongst other things, i feel like you didn't even do your proper research before trying to make this video, this is day and night compared to the malmsteen video sorry, unsub
@@sixstringtv1 Change your title Kaylen you havent wrote "Why do people dislike Megadeth" i purchased their first record and think Dave has done an amazing job considering the abuse from his past physical and emotional etc give it a rest and go and make a album or 15 ;) there was definetly another metal contender needed in the 90s Metallica became to commercial and Megadeth was it.
You know there was this trio from Canada that was playing between 1973 and 2015 and would change their sound quite a bit throughout the years. What was their name again? Oh yeah, Rush!
I like a little bit of Megadeth, I believe I bought a cassette tape in 1984 when I was in the Navy. Not sure if its their first album. Anyway, right now Dave and Kiko are hitting it off really well. I think Kiko is a great guitar player and person. Need to really put out an album together that will be a smash. They are Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame material now.
I like Megadeth in theory, yes the early albums were good and have a legacy, but the last album I thought was original was the system has failed. Sure it has all the classic tropes but it's good, the drumming was amazing on that album too.
So glad you mentioned KIMB as being that good, but I am personally appalled at your reaction to So Far So good, it’s my favorite album and every song is a 10/10 😂
it's a gem for sure, i think the production takes a moment to adjust to though, like maybe i didn't like producion as much but yes, amazing songs, they drew me in to it, it's interesting if you watch the kings of thrash on here, they play that stuff live and it was first time i heard jeffs parts clearly, i was surprised how different he is in his style..
Seen them live a few months back and all I could think was that it might be about time that they retire. Was almost embarrassed for them having to go on after Lamb of God that night with how tight LoG played vs how sloppy they played. I think the highlight of Megadeth's set was just waiting to see what insane political conspiracies Dave would rant about between songs.
i was agreeing with him on kimb and then when he dissed sfsgsw i was like 'noooo! lol, it's all good though, i like it when people have different opinions and maybe mine are not set in stone any way, i often watch stuff on a band i hate even, out of morbid curiosity, i enjoy them as much as ones featuring my favourite bands..
Oof, no mention of Trust? The semi-saving grace of late 90s Megadeath. At least we can all agree Mustaine had the most glorious mane of all. *waiting for the Claudio hair is godtier replies lol
Vortex is probably the one song i like in Cryptic Writings that makes it actually good. Other than that i really like the So Far So Good album, it's one of my favourites, idl why.
I recently got into Megadeth after listening to rust in peace for the first time. I wasn't expecting it to like it at all considering how picky I am with metal but it was a banger from start to finish. Dave should get all the credit for writing some amazing riffs and songs. For me though, Nick Menza and Marty Friedman stole the show. I've never been fascinated by a player's note choices and general playing since I got into EVH and Randy Rhodes. I've even heard some of the stuff Marty is doing in Japan and he still has the chops and sounds just as incredible. I knew Dave is known to be a bitter man but holy shit this is on another level.
@@sixstringtv1 dude that cover of gurenge is 🔥 Also since you're a strat player, I think you should check out the sire s7. I've heard some great stuff about and I'm in the market for buying another strat. I was looking at charvel but the s7 looks legit. It'd be great to see your perspective on it.
This is crazy cuz I’m currently working on Angry Again…mostly to learn Marty’s solo…God bless you for listening to all those albums…I can’t imagine how painful that was…rock on my brother!!!
Just goes to show you how much personal taste factors in to these things. I think “Warheads on Foreheads” is a pretty good name for a thrash metal compilation. With more and more metal adopting abstract lyrics or lyrics that are “humorous” I think Megadeth lyrics feel fresh again. Respect your opinions and channel though.
I like your channel, but I’m kinda put off by this video. Outside of the obvious missteps, a lot of us Megadeth fans never really complain about them like maybe an Yngwie fan would.
Because this dude is just super young and whiney and needs to grow his YT. Why not just throw some random slander and call everyone a racist? Makes sense. It sells these days.
@@sixstringtv1 I wouldn’t pay attention to that, dude. You’re doing great so far, and I really like your channel. We just feel different about the band. No hate here.
i would recommend you to relisten the SFSGSW album, in my darkest hour one of the best MD songs for me, mary jane, pretty much every song on this album is good. Really dug this drug atmosphere, especially you can hear it in hook in mouth
Last new Megadeth I listened to was World Needs a Hero so when someone showed me We'll Be Back I honestly thought that riff sounded more like Judas Priest's Metal Meltdown.
Found your channel a little while ago from KDH's coverage of your Yngwie Malmsteen video. I have to say as a new(er) creator I am liking your content quite a bit. Nice job with the breakdown here. I grew up in the 80's with thrash metal and it pains me to see a light shed on it like this with Megadeth - but, can't dispute the points you raise here. I will say that the addition of Kiko is one of the best additions to the band in awhile, love Kiko's great attitude and guitar playing. Great job on the video here, looking forward to the next one.
UA-cam needs more shredders on youtube with your sense of humor and knowledge. Glad I found your channel bro. Came here after KDH featured you on his channel.
My top 5 Megadeth albums: 1. Endgame. Their masterpiece. I love every song and the production is killer. 2. Peace Sells 3. Rust 4. United Abominations 5. Dystopia
It's also worth noting that the remasters for a lot of their albums sound like absolute shit. They cleaned up the older albums WAAY too much. I much prefer the original KIMB and SFSGSW as well as Youthanasia (The drums sound so much better in the original mix). For the longest time I felt something was off with those albums and the second I heard the original CD my jaw dropped and now I really enjoy those albums. I've especially grown a new appreciation for SFSGSW.
Saw them live in 2013, with a good friend of mine and the concert was awesome. 😁 This video did open my eyes to some of the shortcomings of the band and the NFT stuff is just hilarious. Love the videos, keep it up. 🤘
I really think Megadeth are in the best spot they've been musically since the 90s. Dystopia and tstdtd are chock full of great riffs and solos, and if it wasn't for the more modern production and daves aging vocals, i don't think anyone would be able to tell they weren't from their glory days. I think even quite a bit of their 2000s material is worth listening to. Endgame is almost on par with some of their classic albums imo.
Yeah most of their songs are about criticism about religion and the government but they have other songs about life/death, magic, killing, and other themes… Wake Up Dead, Tornado of Souls, The Conjuring, Good Mourning/Black Friday, Five Magics, My Creation, etc etc… I get they are associated thought with “I hate the establishment” but they also have songs that branch out from that topic.
Let's try this again. Do you happen to have a favorite Megadeth guitarist? Was also surprised how much you hated "So Far... So Good... So What", I never enjoyed the cover, but always loved "Hook in Mouth" and "Set the World Afire" and loved Jeff Young's playing, just found out last week he went to GIT, it shows.
Ofcourse I have a favorite, gotta be Friedman. Not only his work in Megadeth was amazing, but his solo work has been incredible, especially since he moved to Japan
Bro are you serious S.F.S.G.S.W is a masterpiece ! There isn't a bad song on it ! It is their most aggressive album to date ! Hook In Mouth is one of their best songs !
I really think 🤔 he's more a Metallica fan cause he was wrong about a few things but he is entitled to his own opinion 🤷 I been a MEGAFAN since Peace sells and I like every album and your right about s.f.s.g.s.w. it's a great 👍 album and one of there most sold for a while, anyway I'm a big fan 😉 MEGADAVE RULZ 🐐 MEGADETH RULZ ☠️ MEGAFAN 4LIFE ☠️ 🙊 🙉 🙈 🤘
Absolutely agree. Other than Youthanasia, SFSGSW is definitely one of the greatest albums Dave wrote (with a good handful of those songs being dated back to the beginning of Megadeth, performed at live shows before recorded). Into the Lungs of Hell is still one of the hardest, purest forms of thrash introductions. Jeff Young’s solos and Mustaine’s solos? Absolutely golden. My favorite thrash album by them before departing into Heavy metal.
Oh btw Kahler (spelling?), since you correctly realized Marty Friedman's positive contributions to Megadeth, check out Marty's collaboration project with Jason Becker in Cacophony, released on Road Runner Records I believe. This is probably where Friedman first came to Mustaine's attention, around 1990 or '91 as I recall. Cacophony is a Killer guitar album
@@sixstringtv1 Oh was it Shrapnel? Thanks. Yeah man, Friedman & Becker's Cacophony project was awesome. When you see some of Marty's interviews later in his Megadeth years he comes off as such a regular person and nice guy. It seems impossible he could have enjoyed working with Mustaine. Must've been all about the music.
I think Megadeth will get even Higher....because People recognize the Old Bands more and more and Megadeth is here since the 80ties and a Iconic Band. The New Album creates alot of Hype over the Borders of the Trash Scene. There is also an Thing going on...were People dont necessarly like the Music but Respect the Iconic Brand. + mEgadeth touched many Subjects in their Lyrics younger Generations Resonate with . Political they will earn even more Recognition as One of the Bands that Touched certain Topics early and at all. Countdown to Extinction f.e. Dawn Patrol etc etc.
Musically, their days are behind them IMO. As a live band, it's still pretty cool, Mustaine's multiple misadventures don't help with his lackluster performance but the rest of the guys are on fucking point
@@sixstringtv1 the lead singer for pantera really killed the band for me so I think that would be a good video to see what I missed out on before a certain performance
Or Metallica trying to play songs by some talented musician “When Doves Cry” by Prince, they manage to butcher it. The reason Metallica is still popular because they are music for beginners in guitar playing. Tim Henson puts any Metallica member to shame when it comes to playing guitar. And Tim Henson is still not at the level of Paco De Lucia or Manolo Sanlucar.
when you mentioned they reused the riff it reminded me of The Ocean. They have many times have reused the same ideas sometimes verbatim on multiple songs on the same albums.
4:00 Respect to Mustaine for being able to keep a band going for 40 years and provide a good wage for so many musicians, all of whom were more successful after Megadeth than before. Megadeth was never going to be a band of muskateers, Mustaine did a good job and even if they didn't grow and evolve with every album , they never became a tribute act to their former years like almost every band. and i'm not even a Megadeth fan!
I didn’t even know Chris Adler was in This band.. Kiko Loureiro is the one member I associate with this band next to Marty Friedman, Also, wasn’t Nick Menza a one time member, he was filling in for a drummer who had an injury. Ps. The band is pretty good, Mustane is just the one problem. Cryptic writings is pretty underrated, I like it at least.
i enjoy their early stuff, they werent all political either, 502, devils island, my last words, wake up dead, the list goes on, i do like so far so good so what, when you can get past the horrible production, i love into the lungs of hell, i love the intro to set the world afire, i think mary jane is one of my favourite metal songs, theres plenty to like, rust in peace is of course amazing but i also love peace sells, however thats where it ends for me, when i heard symphony of destruction, that song really rubbed me up the wrong way, i think its because how poppy it sounds, although the lyrics are pretty profound especially now.
Super Collider sucks apart from Kingmaker and the Cold Sweat Cover. Love Cryptic Writings. Not massively heavy but tracks like I'll Get Even are super badass.
Cryptic was alright for '97, when Metallica had gone on for tens years too long, and Anthrax had buried themselves, but Collider is a complete car crash. lol
I enjoyed listening to the early Megadeth songs, but I don't know any albums past 2000. I also heard Megadeth this year during Hellfest and Dave sounded terrible. Regarding the guitars, it's Gibson so you can't expect anything groundbreaking or reasonably priced.
Here's my little Mustaine anecdote; Me & my friend won backstage passes for Megadeth during the Youth tour. After the show doing the meet 'n greet with each member one at a time Nick, Marty & Ellefson (I'm a bass player so I was most excited to meet him & talk about bass stuff) were super cool, polite & respectful. I explained that Youth came out while I was on a six month deployment to Sigonella, Sicily (from Maine) while serving in the U.S. Navy & whether I was flying combat missions, anti-submarine warfare missions or just hanging out in my room at the barracks that I'd listen to Youth endlessly & it really helped pass the time (listening to it and also trying to figure out the bass parts as I brought my bass and amp on deployment). When I told them I just literally got back to the U.S. a week ago they each got serious for a second & shook my hand, asked "what was it like?" (the war in Yugoslavia was going on) & they said "Thank you for your service" (and I'm not a veteran that demands or thrives that people say that. I appreciate when they say it but I'm not expecting them to). All was well until.... .....It was time to meet Mustaine. When I told him what I told the others he said (while making a face) "Well you know how I fell about that type of stuff..." (what? serving my country?). We got selfies with both Dave's individually but then at one point we said something totally cool, friendly with a smile on our faces regarding flying while listening to Youth & Mustaine yells over to his security guy & says "Get these two guys outta here now!" and we were forced to leave. So three out of the 4 of them were super cool, answered questions about musical gear, certain parts in songs etc. but the one guy, whom everybody knows is a dick (whether you've ever met him or not) throws out two fans that were waiting over 6 months to see them play. Slap in the face since we were such huge fans & were working our asses off flying 10-13 hour long missions over a war zone/combat area and also flying that same length of time over the ocean hunting submarines.
Serving your country? The only thing you served is your government's interests - greed. War is just business now, and you're not a soldier, you're a mercenary. You were bought and sold to do the CIA's dirty work, nothing more. That's why Dave thinks you're a flog. Because you're a clueless pawn and you actually think you're a good person for it, lol. Sad.
To be fair: Why should a famous band be interested in YOUR life story? They agree to meet fans because it's part of the deal with their label. They aren't interested in your life and they don't have to. I was in the army too (at some point in my life) but I am not gonna meet famous musicians and tell them about it. And if I did I wouldn't be surprised if they react annoyed or disinterested.
You don't understand how high school was in the'70s and '80s and the early 90s and how people talked, fagget fag homo the n word came out as much as the word fuck, metal was a hard ass white thing and grandparents kept saying all the n words were taken over and there was a lot of prejudice. I would like to think us '90s kids put an end to most of that by interracial dating and stuff and cleaning up our mouths and generally not being an asshole to people. It's pretty bad today but the 1980s were the Pinnacle of self-centeredness.
FFF and The Disintegrators are sick tracks on cryptic writings and aren't talked about for some reason. Most of it for me is just above average but there are some hidden gems in Cryptic for sure
Being the biggest megadeth fan ever some of these people commenting and even the video are definitely going to piss me off but I do agree that after the 90s… the quality and my interest goes down. Stay in 80s and 90s megadeth and you’re solid. Notice too how people hate on this band when it is the second most popular metal band of all time and (maybe I’m wrong) but I to this day have not seen any band try to replicate their tone amongst the sea of metallica, slayer, and modern trash metal clones. Show real people megadeth (even chicks, I’m in my 20s and go to college in southern GA so use those type of girls for reference) and they will start banging they’re head and fucking with it. NEVER let any type of UA-camr, poser, or modern metal junkie mold your opinion on your taste. I let this happen to me and I hated metallica for awhile cause I dick rode mustaine too hard… so not cool. BUT in conclusion this is my opinion and I only say this cause megadeth pushed me through so much shitty times I can’t even count in this fucked world. I love this band so goddamn much it pushed me to pick up guitar in an age where most of my friends made fun of me for it and only listened to atlanta trap music. Everyone has their fav band and although I vehemently disagree with this dude I respect the opinion. Not everyone likes the same stuff! Good day folks!
"So Far, So Good, So What?!" produced my all-time favorite Megadeth song "Hook in Mouth". Add in "In My Darkest Hour", "Liar", and the ultra-impressive "Into the Lungs of Hell" & man you're overlooking a phenomenal thrash classic! The mix was subpar, I'll grant you that... but the material was some of Dave's very best.
At least they didn't went the Metallica path tbh, Metallica now basically became kiss and collab with yousician is just stupid. But Megadeth is getting better I think?
You raise good points but I can’t help but think some of Dave’s remarks hit you in your feelings and it happened to seep out in the form of criticisms with no backing other than “it’s my opinion”
What remarks? I'm neither gay nor an African woman, neither his thinly veiled racism nor the word "faggot" affect me personally and I don't like that you think so little of me
@@sixstringtv1 when has he talked shit on African women? Have you heard him say the N word or out right blame the black community in America for anything? You do not cite this at all in the video other than calling him a racist. Pretty shitty man.
Rust in Peace is a great album. I remember when it came out in '90 and all my shredder friends tried in vain to play Marty's parts. I like every album through Youthanasia. I agree with you regarding my least favorite of this era which has to be So Far, So Good, So What, which is just very blah. I can hardly think of Megadeth as a band but rather as MegaDave, as he's always been running the show. It's his project as much as Whitesnake is the project of another Dave. Yes, Megadeth songwriter leaves something to be desired. There is a general sameness to it. What may have sounded awesome when I was fourteen doesn't sound so cool by the time you graduate high school. I found that Maiden always found new subjects for their material and Steve Harris and Co. still writer excellent material. I can't say the same for Megadeth.
Great video man, but one advice I'd give you is increase the volume on your video, because compared to other videos is very silent. Otherwise, amazing job on the research, editing and etc. Keep on doing what you are doing.
If I increase the master volume we get a debacle like in my Squier/BCR Stranger Things videos... I'm not sure what the problem is but I'll fix it soon I promise
As a huge Megadeth fan myself, I completely agree with your opinions on their latest single. It’s an okay song, but I was a bit disappointed the first time I heard it because it sounds like Dave is just recycling ideas from other songs. It’s like he’s trying really hard to make another thrash album without making it too different from what he knows the fans already like. Unfortunately, I don’t think they will ever release another album on the same level as their first six.
I really think you’re off base in regards to their music. Yeah, Dave can be a dick (He wasn’t to me when I met him) and yeah, it’s hard to live up to Rust in Peace but except for maybe 2 albums, he’s always put out good stuff.
Good video, funny enough when you got to Cryptic Writings I tried to think about it and had nothing to say 🤣. I will say some points I don’t agree with, I personally love Endgame, Untied Abominations, So Far So Good So What, and Youthanasia but I had fun watching this 🤘
I must say something about Chris Poland, I see no EQ setting on that small Jackson, Dude, and I don't know if Joe Strummer already had pox. I don't know. Namastè.
I liked Super Collider. It's also been years since I listened to it & I'm also a weirdo. But on a more serious note, I think you were a little harsh on the band, but I really do appreciate the speedy discography reviews.
@@sixstringtv1 I don't mind criticism, it's just that maybe you got too excited by the response to the Yngwie vid & felt like you had to match it, even tho, as you yourself said, Megadeth's music hasn't gotten near as bad as Yngwie's. Dave has had an extremely difficult life. As a recovering alcoholic/addict myself, I know this with full conviction deep in my bones. Therefore, I am full of compassion and empathy for him.

I really liked "The System has Failed". There are a lot of catchy tunes on there, and having some Chris Poland was a big plus
Scorpion is one of my all time favorite Megadeth songs.
It is a great album
I think this is a really bad way to listen to a band's discography. I used to be a big Megadeth fan, not as much anymore, but many of the albums I would never have listened to at the same time as one another, so listening to them back to back just guarantees you won't be in the right headspace for most of the albums. For example, I also think St. Anger is an underappreciated album, but it's not something I would just listen to casually, I need to be in the right space mentally and emotionally to enjoy it. Otherwise, it's shit.

I knew Dave is known to be a bitter man but holy shit this is on another level.
Friedman is incredible, and his Tokyo Jukebox albums are sick too!
@@sixstringtv1 dude that cover of gurenge is 🔥
Also since you're a strat player, I think you should check out the sire s7. I've heard some great stuff about and I'm in the market for buying another strat. I was looking at charvel but the s7 looks legit. It'd be great to see your perspective on it.
Hearing "S7" made me think it'd be a 7 string Strat and got me all excited, I might still try it out though!
@@sixstringtv1 it's a 6 string unfortunately. Sire does this with all of their models. The LP style guitar is called L7 lol.
This is crazy cuz I’m currently working on Angry Again…mostly to learn Marty’s solo…God bless you for listening to all those albums…I can’t imagine how painful that was…rock on my brother!!!
It really was awful, time wouldn't seem to pass 😂
Glad you enjoy the video though, good luck learning the solo!
That’s gotta be one of my favorite all time Marty solos.
They write about more than what you tried to box them into.
Right, bad breakups too.

Slander? 😭😭
@@dethpig420 I don’t find him whiny or looking for controversy, I just think he doesn’t get it when it comes to Megadeth.

i would recommend you to relisten the SFSGSW album, in my darkest hour one of the best MD songs for me, mary jane, pretty much every song on this album is good. Really dug this drug atmosphere, especially you can hear it in hook in mouth
I'd much rather not, I've got Megadeth PTSD

I love Peace Sells and Rust in Peace. And I like Killing is my Business. And hate everything else.
Thanks, glad you're enjoying the channel 😁😁
Kiko is badass, no argument there
Peace sells and rust in peace are definitely two of the best thrash metal albums with peace in their name.
Mustaine huffs his own farts.
UA-cam needs more shredders on youtube with your sense of humor and knowledge. Glad I found your channel bro. Came here after KDH featured you on his channel.
There may be more of me on KDH's channel soon 👀
Let's hope Dave Mustaine is not the second coming of Yngwie Malmsteen :D
He better not be cause I'm not taking that in stride again
My top 5 Megadeth albums:
1. Endgame. Their masterpiece. I love every song and the production is killer.
2. Peace Sells
3. Rust
4. United Abominations
Glad you liked the video😁😎😎
Saw them from countdown to risk and 2 giganours !!!!🤘🤘
Endgame is probably my favorite Megadeth album. Sound is great, solos are sick, very energetic overall.
Yeah most of their songs are about criticism about religion and the government but they have other songs about life/death, magic, killing, and other themes…
Wake Up Dead, Tornado of Souls, The Conjuring, Good Mourning/Black Friday, Five Magics, My Creation, etc etc…
I get they are associated thought with “I hate the establishment” but they also have songs that branch out from that topic.
You're trolling right?
Liar rules.

You don't think I'm aware of classic Shrapnel shred records? 🙄
I think Cacophony was always Shrapnel, yeah
I think Megadeth will get even Higher....because People recognize the Old Bands more and more and Megadeth is here since the 80ties and a Iconic Band. The New Album creates alot of Hype over the Borders of the Trash Scene.
There is also an Thing going on...were People dont necessarly like the Music but Respect the Iconic Brand.

Dave is my favorite artist ever
when you mentioned they reused the riff it reminded me of The Ocean.
Give that boy a draft notice. And toolbelt workbooks pink hardhat
I didn’t even know Chris Adler was in This band..
Kiko Loureiro is the one member I associate with this band next to Marty Friedman,
Also, wasn’t Nick Menza a one time member, he was filling in for a drummer who had an injury.
Ps. The band is pretty good, Mustane is just the one problem.
Cryptic writings is pretty underrated, I like it at least.
I actually love "The System has failed". Perhaps that's why my mum calls me special.

Bro those chris poland solos were great in that album
i enjoy their early stuff, they werent all political either, 502, devils island, my last words, wake up dead, the list goes on, i do like so far so good so what, when you can get past the horrible production, i love into the lungs of hell, i love the intro to set the world afire, i think mary jane is one of my favourite metal songs, theres plenty to like, rust in peace is of course amazing but i also love peace sells, however thats where it ends for me, when i heard symphony of destruction, that song really rubbed me up the wrong way, i think its because how poppy it sounds, although the lyrics are pretty profound especially now.
Super Collider and Cryptic Writings were pretty solid records.
Oh you must be that one guy who bought it
Super Collider sucks apart from Kingmaker and the Cold Sweat Cover.
Love Cryptic Writings. Not massively heavy but tracks like I'll Get Even are super badass.
Cryptic was alright for '97, when Metallica had gone on for tens years too long, and Anthrax had buried themselves, but Collider is a complete car crash. lol
He got kicked out of Metallica btw. Dont know if he mentioned that. Also, im a fan of Cryptic Writings
while I do agree that mustaine has a bit of an ego(much like malmsteen) he has certainly become more humble over the past few years
Awesome channel man. I've seen all your videos. Keep the good work!
Thank you!!
Metal bands do tend to make the same album over and over again
I enjoyed listening to the early Megadeth songs, but I don't know any albums past 2000. I also heard Megadeth this year during Hellfest and Dave sounded terrible. Regarding the guitars, it's Gibson so you can't expect anything groundbreaking or reasonably priced.
Fair enough 😂😭
Here's my little Mustaine anecdote;
Me & my friend won backstage passes for Megadeth during the Youth tour.
Good day Nick!

I don't mind the Yousician collab, I support anything that gets people into guitar to keep the instrument from going extinct
You raise good points but I can’t help but think some of Dave’s remarks hit you in your feelings and it happened to seep out in the form of criticisms with no backing other than “it’s my opinion”

MegaDave 😂😂
I thought they where doing aight
Nah
Great video man, but one advice I'd give you is increase the volume on your video, because compared to other videos is very silent. Otherwise, amazing job on the research, editing and etc. Keep on doing what you are doing.

What happened to megadeth: "nothing, they are good"
As a huge Megadeth fan myself, I completely agree with your opinions on their latest single.
Nothing will ever beat the first six, let alone first three.
I actually think so far so good so what is super underrated hook in mouth and 502 is fantastic
I really think you’re off base in regards to their music. Yeah, Dave can be a dick (He wasn’t to me when I met him) and yeah, it’s hard to live up to Rust in Peace but except for maybe 2 albums, he’s always put out good stuff.
As someone who loves Megadeth, you are correct.
