    could you use this technique on an already assembled house? we have a cedar clad house we stained 20 years ago but this might be better than painting, especially if it becomes fire resistant

      We would not recommend charring anything that is already fixed. Best bet would be to char timber offsite and then install it!

    Does it require any maintenance, the outside, and how long does the timber/wood last?

      Depending on where the charred timber is installed and what oil it is coated with, the maintenance will vary. The variables on a project include, exposure to the elements, location and elevation. When using Cutek oil, it is recommended to recoat after install and then a third time six months later. Perhaps requiring a recoat after 3-5 years, depending on the above.
