The interiors of the public spaces are finished in timber and warm granite. These spaces are well-detailed, as one would expect from KHA, although their limited extent, and sometimes abrupt transition, speak to the impact of value management. The renovated lobby located on Murray street, now boasts a ceiling adorned with American oak battens. Our PROPLANK Click-in Batten system was installed by Ireaus Construction, headed by Alan Healy. Described as a grand installation, it Ireaus used over 6000 linear meters of American Oak battens.

Why ??
I'm doing a Japanese bathroom would this be ok as a feature wall behind the bath
Most likely it is not a good idea to have timber in high moisture / water-prone areas. This includes charred timber. Using it internally would be great for other areas of the house. Even the kitchen, thought design considerations have to be made.

You can! But we do not advise. This will change the appearance of the charred timber. One or many that we are unfamiliar.

Hi there, we build the kiln/machine ourselves and consider our charring technique to be at the forefront of the industry. So we don't often reveal or get it in front of the camera. could you use this technique on an already assembled house? we have a cedar clad house we stained 20 years ago but this might be better than painting, especially if it becomes fire resistant
We would not recommend charring anything that is already fixed. Best bet would be to char timber offsite and then install it!
Does it require any maintenance, the outside, and how long does the timber/wood last?
Depending on where the charred timber is installed and what oil it is coated with, the maintenance will vary. The variables on a project include, exposure to the elements, location and elevation. When using Cutek oil, it is recommended to recoat after install and then a third time six months later. Perhaps requiring a recoat after 3-5 years, depending on the above.

great ! i think because of the weather where i iive that this was necesary now i see that is better than i thougth ,thanks !! i have a question i did a cuplle of pieces that i have is benn 48 hs since last oil was aplied and whan i touch it it leaves some black in my finger do you know when thsi stops ????
Leave it in the weather for a few months. Some oils with eliminate the black coming off immediately
