1) The part where you went from liking to loving the movie is pretty universal. I saw this movie in the theater during opening weekend and the Harvard bar scene is when the entire audience collectively set up in their seats and was glued to the screen. We all wanted to be in that friend group. 2) TOTALLY share your preference for Robin Williams as a dramatic actor over a comedian. 3) when I first saw this movie (and for a decade or so after) I related with the young characters in the movie. I'm 54 now and I relate to the older characters. This movie has grown with me through the decades and it is why it is my favorite movie.
Cmon she knew right away at the bar when he interacted with the Harvard guy that he was pretty smart. Then he did her homework in a few mins right before they went to the dog track.
One of the best movies of the 20th century. I relate to Will in too many ways but in the last few years I've finally made strides to get out of my comfort zone and get after the things I want in my life. Slow progress is still progress. This was a great reaction video - loved the inspirational talk at the end and the bickering throughout lmao. HER NAME IS MINNIE DRIVER 🤣🤣🤣
One of the nuanced things, aside from them sitting closer at the end, is Sean refers to Will as "son". He started out with sport, chief, etc... By the end, he was "son".
You two are delightful, and it's a genuine pleasure watching you react to this film. I also love your advice at the end. It took me 25 years to remember that I always wanted to be a fiction writer, and actually achieving it (getting published in markets I respected and liked) was like a dream come true, although of course it took a heck of a lot of work. But I wish I'd realized it earlier: there are three other writers I know, just exactly my age, who started when they were in their twenties, and they're all successful and beloved authors now. I'll never get to that point, because I won't have time. I don't really have regrets (I did things I wanted to do & have had a good life), but I do get wistful.
Will is so smart, isn't he? I think him and Sean needed each other, and they learned a lot from their time with each other. Will isn't the 'typical' patient and Sean isn't the 'typical' therapist. They bounce off of each other and whenever one of them says something it truly REACHES the other. Such great acting, such a great story. I gotta say, as someone who's been through extremely tough shit in their life and who's still struggling with it as an adult I relate a little too hard to Will. And I never had anybody to tell me that it was not my fault. I had to learn that myself, still sometimes struggle to actually believe it.
Here you go, Chiefs! Another superb one you found! Thanks for this one. 😊 When Matt and Ben won their Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay (because it was based on a story Matt wrote while a student at some rinky-dink school-Harvard, I think-), it was presented to them by another legendary couple of movie star buddies: The Odd Couple of Grumpy Old Men, Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. When Robin received his Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, in his thanks to Matt & Ben, he said, "...I still wanna see some I.D."😂 Robin was trained at the prestigious Juilliard School in their acting program. It is cutthroat to get in; thousands apply, and only 20 are accepted into the program each year. Many only make part of the four years and are asked to leave after two years. Robin attended as a two-year student in the Master's, and his roommate was Superman legend Christopher Reeve. The two men were like "brothers from other mothers" for the rest of their lives. So, if Robin is excellent at the dramatic, it's because he was just a gifted and brilliant performer who felt more at home in comedy but just loved doing what he did. Growing up in the 70s and 80s, he was one of my heroes when he said, "I am Mork from Ork. Na-noo-na-noo!" (So was Christopher Reeve, but that's another story...) When Robin died, the park bench of Sean's monologue to Will was a focus for Boston mourners. It was almost buried in flowers, cards, and notes expressing their love, grief, and hope for his peace in death. It's still a landmark for visitors to Boston. R.I.P. Robin..."Oh, Captain! My Captain!" (If you haven't seen Dead Poet's Society...you must!). Mikey...C'mon, man...Talking about 900 numbers in a UA-cam video is gonna give you a shit-ton of grief, my dude! Still...it's pretty funny! 🤣🤣🤣 Sean... - 29:39 - The scene about Sean's wife and her farts...the camera shakes a bit because the camera operator was laughing so hard during the take. And that isn't Will laughing...It's Matt. It's real. It might have been one of the few times Robin improvised in the film. I don't remember. Matt and Ben as writing partners only have one other film to their credit The Last Duel (2021) directed by Ridley Scott, and it was a flop. However, separately, they have written or co-written several films. Ben has won another Oscar for Best Picture for Argo (2012), a film he directed. Still, he was robbed of a nomination for Best Director (especially since he won almost every other directing award that year). He shared the Best Picture Oscar win with George Clooney and Grant Heslov. Ben plays Chuckie, and Ben's younger brother, Casey Affleck, plays Morgan...so the ball-busting was at least half-real in their scenes. Casey is now an Oscar-winning Best Actor (Manchester By the Sea, 2016). Billy, the other friend of Will's, is played by Cole Hauser. Cole is ending his time as Rip Wheeler on the hit series Yellowstone in its final season. And Mikey...Cole looks REALLY different now.
Yup. I grew up in the 70s/80s in Boston and this story is pretty accurate to what those times were like. Always something to prove and relationships are valued and based on old school trust and neighborhood connections. I could tell you stories that would have you talking to yourself for awhile. Anyway. Nicely done BTW! I'm a fan...

After Williams passed away, that bench was made into a makeshift memorial for a while because of that scene. It's crazy how this movie has 3-4 incredible 1 v 1 dialogue moments in it that are so incredibly moving and memorable. In Will's 1 on 1 with Skylar he talked about him getting cigarettes put out on him as a kid and he also stabbed him. (pics at 57:52) Matt Damon in The Martian is excellent, Williams has a lot of good movies, especially non-comedic roles. If you want a unique romantic "comedy" check out J Law and Bradley Cooper (plus other big names) in Silver Linings Playbook.
I’m so glad I found this channel. The movie reaction was top notch, but your other interactions throughout the movie just elevated this to another level. Can’t wait to watch more.
The dog that was definitely in the movie, made me laugh out loud in the middle of crying. Loved your reaction and the context you gave, such as about "southies". Just want to say that reacting doesn't 100% have to be talking, reacting can also be tears flowing or being awestruck because of amazing dialogue. The speech at the pond is so important and I'm glad that you listened to it carefully instead of talking through it. I'd like to suggest an epic but extremely heavy movie for reaction - "Schindler's List". Steven Spielberg used to call Robin Williams while filming it so that the humour would alleviate his mood and help him finish the project.
This movie reaction was absolutely stellar! So entertaining, insightful and you guys just receive each film so well. So glad you guys decided to watch this. This is a top five movie for me. The writing, the acting, and most importantly the message are so good. It's insane to think how talented Damon and Affleck were at that age. What a watch.
The fact that Robin Williams portrays a great psychoanalyst on screeen and yet was not able to find one who could help him in real life always chokes me up
Some of us can act fine, and be so normal and outgoing more than that, yet be going through so much. It's alot going on in everyone's lives, we all just react differently. Being a good actor can also be in your day to day life, too. Plenty of Oscar winners you meet in your lifetime that aren't on screen.
He had an incurable, debilitating brain disease. His mind was rapid fire brilliant. No therapist on this planet could help. What are you talking about?🤔
Robin Williams had this amazing gift of being able to turn pain into humor, making it universally relatable. That's why his best roles were the dramatic roles, such as The Fisher King, Dead Poets Society & Good Will Hunting. A master of the human experience sadly gone way too soon.
While in college in the 80's, I worked at AT&T (before the big breakup into smaller companies) in customer service and billing. I got a call one day from a guy complaining about a $10,000 phone bill for just one month. They were all to 900 numbers. I explained that the billing started once you connected and continued while you waited on hold. He was shocked and then realized his teenage kid had done it. He said he'd pay the bill, but that his kid was going to be going away to a military high school.
Another great review, was not what I was expecting your guys to do next. Interesting fact you may not know, Robin Williams roommate at Julliard was Christopher Reeve
"Bibbidy bobbidy boo". 😂 The Last Duel (2021) was also written by Matt Damon And Ben Affleck. They also starred together in Kevin Smith's Dogma (1999). Hey guys, regarding Robin Williams' acting chops - if you didn't know, he attended Juilliard. From Wikipedia: In 1973, Williams attained a full scholarship to the Juilliard School (Group 6, 1973-1976) in New York City. He was one of 20 students accepted into the freshman class, and Williams and Christopher Reeve were the only two accepted by John Houseman into the Advanced Program at the school that year.

Great. Cause I needed to cry today. Love you guys.
I adore this film so much, and watching it with you guys was like watching it for the first time again. You guys are amazing.
54:18 "F ck you (ewe)"
"You're the shepherd"
Probably my favorite joke in the movie and it took me years to figure it out.
When Matt and Ben won their Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay (because it was based on a story Matt wrote while a student at some rinky-dink school-Harvard, I think-), it was presented to them by another legendary couple of movie star buddies: The Odd Couple of Grumpy Old Men, Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.
When Robin received his Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, in his thanks to Matt & Ben, he said, "...I still wanna see some I.D."😂
Robin was trained at the prestigious Juilliard School in their acting program. Na-noo-na-noo!" (So was Christopher Reeve, but that's another story...)
When Robin died, the park bench of Sean's monologue to Will was a focus for Boston mourners.
59:00 I watched so many other reactions but nobody ever mentions the significance of the dog barking
😂😂😂
I come from Germany, so I had to have the text translated by Google. I love this film and have already seen over 10 reaction videos. Your reaction is the best I've seen so far. Authentic, emotional and honest. Thanks..
Hey guys , you’re my favourite reactors on UA-cam and I’m enjoying this. Your responses are so authentic and you both have impeccable taste. I’d recommend you next watch Heat with Robert de Niro and Al Pacino. A real classic I think you’d both enjoy
Wow, thank you!
I really enjoyed your commentary and how you immersed yourselves in every part of the scenes. The genuine emotions you shared felt so real-it’s that classic, old-school vibe! 🙃
As one of the guys mentioned, this is now my favorite movie reaction channel! 😊
I loved your reactions. Really interesting takes on some of the scenes and the film as a whole. Glad to see your channel’s doing well 🤙
You guys really get into the movies you're watching. I love it.
This was a great movie! You guys did another fantastic reaction!! I learn so much from you and about you every time. Toodles!! MSPOG!!
You're the best Cassandra!
I highly recommend “The Martian” with Matt Damon. It’s phenomenal.
Top 3 all timer here... The pearl clutching about the 900 numbers cracked me up. Good reaction.
I loved seeing you guys experience all the emotions that come with Will's life and how the relationships between characters are so surprisingly developed. This reaction was amazing, almost as amazing as a 900 number. LOL
Suscribed! Love all your reactions. Some suggesstions for amazing movies to see (it's better to see them without knowing anything):
- Moon (2009)
- Disctrict 9 (2009)
- Memento (2000)
- Stand by Me (1986)
- Sleuth (1972)
Great reaction... Love the back stories and commentary
Guys watching your friendship is as fun as watching the reactions!
Also Robin Williams is the best. He could do anything. Absolutely extraordinary.
Great to see you guys again 😊. I think my favorite thing about your reactions it that I can see you pausing the movie for a moment. Then I know, even if I don't see it, you aren't missing anything. A strange thing to stress about for sure, but that's me.
😊 thank you
Bippity Boppity Boo. Keep the movies coming! I enjoy watching you guys.
Thank you 🙏🏻
This one of the best movie/ screenplay of all time. I've personally seen it more than a few dozen times.
Great job guys!
I've always preferred Robin Williams in dramatic roles, too. One Hour Photo is definitely worth checking out.
@@jnt6239 That film is heartbreaking and disturbing.
first time watching you two, 13 minutes in and crying of laughter. great reaction
Glad you enjoyed!!
I clicked this so damn fast
So glad you guys decided to watch this. This is a top five movie for me. The writing, the acting, and most importantly the message are so good. It's insane to think how talented Damon and Affleck were at that age. What a watch.
The fact that Robin Williams portrays a great psychoanalyst on screeen and yet was not able to find one who could help him in real life always chokes me up
He was beyond help, only after his passing they realised the sickness inside his brain...
He had Lewy body dementia.
Unfortunately nothing would have helped him. 💔
Some of us can act fine, and be so normal and outgoing more than that, yet be going through so much. It's alot going on in everyone's lives, we all just react differently. Being a good actor can also be in your day to day life, too. Plenty of Oscar winners you meet in your lifetime that aren't on screen.
Not what happened
He had an incurable, debilitating brain disease. His mind was rapid fire brilliant. No therapist on this planet could help. What are you talking about?🤔
48-year old, got no idea how I found this but I'll definitely be checking out more.
These guys are great! Also 48, here
So glad when you two post a reaction. Always enjoyable. 👍👍
Sure, make me cry during work on a Tuesday. Awesome, Thanks.
Every day that Mr 47 releases a new video is a good day!
Great reaction guys...
Another great review, was not what I was expecting your guys to do next.
Interesting fact you may not know, Robin Williams roommate at Julliard was Christopher Reeve
"Bibbidy bobbidy boo". 😂
The Last Duel (2021) was also written by Matt Damon And Ben Affleck. They also starred together in Kevin Smith's Dogma (1999).
I also enjoyed Matt Damon in The Bourne Trilogy based on the books of Robert Ludlum. The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. Which is a series of action movies based on clandestine undercover ops. 😂
Thank you 🙏🏻
Oooh, saving this for when I can have a beer. Know you two will like this, can even think of the exact scenes.
Bippity boppity boo.
Love this movie. One of my favorite Robin Williams performances.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
these two talking about "what a great chemistry between them" (Sean & Will).... c'mon guys... WHAT A GREAT CHEMISTRY BETWEEN YOU TWO! Simply awesome. What a ride this reaction has been. Thank you guys. Appreciate your work, your reaction and your vibe. Keep doing it. Cheers from Mexico.
¡Órale! Muchas gracias Caballero...
I appreciate the inspirational and encouraging words. Actually needed to hear them.
Ummm. So I'm 50 and also lost myself to raves and everything that went with that. Also, I called on of those lines too. Then I realised that it would show in the bill....so I STOLE THE BILL...got away with it too. Great reaction again. One love from Scotland. 💙
As a Boston native, you nailed the pronunciation of Peabody, nice work! Now, let’s hear you say Worcester, Gloucester, Leicester, Leominster, Cochituate and Haverhill lol
Am from Worcester, and I have heard all the different pronunciations people have for Worcester the funniest ones I heard were from people from New York I went one time to visited some family members and each one had a different way of saying Worcester the only ones I have ever heard saying the correct way are the English
Tabs still exist, you leave your credit card with the bartender as insurance but always paid the same night. I may or may not have had to do the walk of shame into the bar the next morning 😅
Love the channel. Found y'all just recently. I'm from ur generation. Great banter between y'all. 👍
Welcome aboard!
You two are the best aslt reacting to these movies. Wow. You get it. You get the deep & hidden aspects of the story in all the movie reactions I've watched by you guys. Thank you so much! I love your movie reactions. Excellent!
Wow, thank you!
Just found you guys. Brilliant reaction - probably the best I've seen. Here for the ride. And... what a movie. Might need to go and watch it again - with my kids. Life lessons abound.
My first time watching you guys, and I haven't searched your history, but since you like the awesome Mr Williams in a serious role I'd recommend both "The Fisherking" w/Jeff Bridges & "Awakenings" w/DeNiro
One of my favorite movies ever. It is amazing how young they were when they wrote this. Just an extremely real and relatable movie.
Hey guys, regarding Robin Williams' acting chops - if you didn't know, he attended Juilliard. From Wikipedia:
In 1973, Williams attained a full scholarship to the Juilliard School (Group 6, 1973-1976) in New York City. He was one of 20 students accepted into the freshman class, and Williams and Christopher Reeve were the only two accepted by John Houseman into the Advanced Program at the school that year.
Great pronunciation of Peabody. We are not called “southie’s” lol…loved your reaction.
Okay boys, i’ve been watching reaction videos for six years, U2 are the first I have subscribed to and hit the notification button. Please consider, Legends of the fall. it’s right up both your alleys and I think the reaction you’d have to it if you Haven’t already seen it would be amazing. Keep up the good work, Joe.
Fun tidbit, Matt when he meets the first quack (13:06 ) he's wearing a Cobra jacket. He's since gone on to play Carol Shelby in Ford vs Ferrari. Which is a banger of a film, if you think you're not into cars or Le Mans etc, don't be put off. Some great acting, based on a true events and a bit emotional - really one for blokes and their friendship. I think you'd both like it.
I was waiting for you to react to that great movie. I 'm not disappointed, I love the way that you're relating emotionally and philosophically to it, it makes a reaction that remains in our memory. Keep up the good work
Thank you so much!!
Great reaction you two. Trivia: The scene about Robin Williams' wife farting in bed was completely improvised by Robin. So, the laughter of Matt and Robin is completely real and honest. Other great dramatic movies with Robin are Mrs. Doubtfire, The Fisher King (very underrated), Dead Poets Society, Patch Adams, Awakenings, and my personal favorite, What Dreams May Come. Much love and keep on keepin on J.
So many. I loved him in Good Morning Vietnam too, And Happy Feet and Jumanji! 🙂
The 900 numbers bit got me to subscribe! lol!
Thank you 🙏🏻
I love your reactions ❤❤❤❤
Just came across your channel. You are both so funny and loved your reactions to this amazing film. Peace
I just can't imagine what this movie would be like without Bozo Vimy in it. Thanks, guys, you are awesome.
Sincerely, an OG'er.
She's one in a million
The movie that best combines Robin Williams' natural ability at comedy w great dramatic scenes is, imo, "Patch Adams." It is based on a true story and will always be one of my favorite RW movies.
