Thank you so much! These lesson our life! It’s really been impressing people around me and upgrading my playing! Been playing for 10 years but just started taking it serious serious five years ago. Thanks
Hey Kerry "2 Smooth" Marshall! I'm enjoying your lessons so far. Do you know of a good sounding, low priced, first acoustic and electric guitar that I can also use for recording?
I've been playing guitar for one week and practice 2-3 hours a day. I'm finally to the point where my fingers don't hurt as much and I can almost ring out a few chords without muting the strings around it... ALMOST. Glad I found your channel, brother. Looking forward to learning from you.
@@crystalgulley2667 It all come with time. The more you play, the less itll hurt/muscle memory will do its thing. I started off playing random doodles and absolutely zero music theory/teachings.....5 years later and still no music theory ( lol) but youll be amazed how far you can go with just experience with playing on your own guitar. Basically just continue to play, and try your best to not let frustration ruin your motivation for getting better. If this song is too difficult for you now, trust me it will be piss easy once you wrack up alittle more experience. For now, i would focus on learning and mastering the basic chord shapes for C, Am, G, F, and D. Those chords alone can take you a very long way, and will help build your fingers calluses up to be able to play harder chords longer without fatigue. Take it one step at a time and trust me, once you learn those chords and can play those with ease, come back to this song and watch how easily youll play it ( or atleast the basic chord progression without all the fancy licks, hammer ons and what not lol). When it comes to playing the guitar, doesnt matter what or how difficult of a song youre playing...as long as you just play, you will grow and the growth will definitely show itself in many many ways that youd least expect. Youll eventually surpass your own expectations and oh boy, its a great feeling, once you get to the point where you are actually much better than you give yourself credit for. Dont give up!
I'd consider myself an intermediate/advanced, and I still mute some strings when playing chords. Obviously still work on it, but I wouldn't get too hung up about that at all.
I started playing in late June, and the advice I’d give is practice hammer ons, pull offs, and barre chords, cause they become essential and then everything else feels easier afterwards
I feel you bro. I'm a white guy but I definitely agree with you. R&B and Soul is missing a little in this format. It's just not as authentic coming from a British white dude🤣🤣
I am a drummer 57 yo who started out playing guitar many moons ago, you are a great teacher patience suits you, I will be checking you out bro Thanks so much!
Got a guitar for Christmas and have be playing with it ever since I got it. Then I started getting bored with 4hrs of tutorials and this video just boosted my interest to a whole different level 🚀
Man this is so smooth. I just picked up the guitar 2 weeks ago and teaching myself how to play. I know 4 major and 2 minor chords. What I just watch you do seems light years away for me. I know I will get there and play this riff in time. Thank you for the motivation.
You the man!!! Grew up listening to R&B and still to this day finally starting to play more guitar and trying to sing!!! Helping a ton with my understanding breh..!!!!
This is actually a really cool video. First watched it when I just got my guitar. Learned the song, then forgot about it. Practiced for 2 years and rewatched this video. I learned so much extra stuff from reviewing and looking at details I overlooked the first time.
Just found your channel i am an intermediate guitarist i play in church and i am trying to be more diverse, you are an amazing teacher u are 1 of my new resources many thanks god bless you sir!!
Hey there. I was going through my library of things to learn on the guitar and I found this lesson again. And I realized how fundamental this was in starting me off playing this kind of music. This lesson was a little hard at first and now it just feels like home. thanks for getting me going on my journey
I met Joshua Thompson, who played on that album, when I was in college. He studied with my guitar professor before I got there. Phenomenal jazz and classical player who wanted to learn everything about music and was really motivating.
buy a six inch screw drill through the top of your newel post so the screw just slides through to catch the center of your hand railing return draw it tight as to just counter sink the head finish off with color putty , great lesson thanks
I'm a Beginner and those single string notes for the Usher song (You remind me of a ) seem pretty easy to pick up on, but the Minor 7 chords are a challenge. I mean, I'm just now transitioning my learning from the standard chords like A, C, D, G Major and Minor at the top frets. I love R & B, so it's hard to turn away from learning this.
Just found you through Melanie Faye's channel and had to suscribe not because you say so but because your lovely kids did ! Time to grab the guitar and try this. :)
I love this lesson/tutorial! So nice to see all chords in a diagram from i to vii. Also I love how you explain 3 different levels here for one song. Last but not least I think it's not necessary to tell everyone to re-watch the video in all your videos. I guess it's a common thing 😊 But again thank you for this lesson!!
Awesome lesson! I like that you mentioned don't do one think every single time. Let the audience identify and then give them flavor and changes at different instances. You da man!
My great uncle past away and he had dozens of guitars. My grandpa snagged me one and it’s just been hovering over my head board. I want to learn how to play

You do a very nice job.... In my band days in the 70s I played this kind of stuff. The simplicity in your lessons make them fun.
