I remember this. I caught the last train out of Portchester, NY before they shut service down. Snow was up to my knees when I came off the train. I was 20 years old.
I was 6 years old and I lived on Long Island very close to Queens my father and grandfather worked out a school bus company in Queens they got caught in this blizzard and had to stay at a friend's house in Queens for 2 days because their car got stuck on the highway I remember it like it was yesterday my mother telling me your father and grandfather won't be coming home tonight and maybe not for the next 5 days LOL what a time what a place I wish I was older I do remember it but these people got to experience a golden time and a golden place I hope they're all still breathing and healthy
I was sixteen and remember this one well. At 2:00 p.m., I went with some friends to smoke weed at an apartment on Seventy-Fourth and Second, went home, went to visit my friend at 92nd and Second. Big mistake! Get into a cab on the way back, it gets stuck in the snow at 87th. Smoke up the cabbie then get out, walk, 86th is clear, get home. Two weeks later the same cabbie picks me up in my building's driveway as he was dropping off a passenger. Really brutal storm this one.
I remember this one. It was on a Friday and the stock exchanges closed early due to snow. When l got off the train it was up to my knees already. Bad storm and it was the only big one that winter generally a mild one.
Remember this storm well. I was 11 yrs old and lived off Skillman blvd by queen of angels. But this is how old queens was, white european immigrants. you see greeks, irish and italian spots all in this one video. now astoria is generic, no soul, all fake.
Lol the guy digging up his car. Sanitation plows will just bury it again. I never understood why people got so worked up over their cars being buried. Didn't you know a storm was coming? If you couldn't find a better parking spot why weren't you out there removing the white stuff as it fell? Cool video, though. Cars were the sizes of small boats back then lol.
She is so beautiful. I wonder what happened to her and others that's in this video
I was born in this blizzard in Queens! Amazing finally get a visual to the stories my family always told me of that day.
