I'll never understand why hooks disappeared from the outsides of pickup truck beds.
Love my 1989 Datsun 720. It's my daily driver and has never let me down in over 30 years.

Loved my 720. Mine was a 1981. I resurrected it from the dead as well. When I bought it had a terrible miss so I but high test gas and some STP carb cleaner and just floored it up some mountains were I’m from and after about 2 full tanks and 4 cans of carb cleaner and a spark plug change it was as good as new. You could see through the bed but it was a reliable good on gas truck! They switched to the hard bodies after these I believe! They were a solid truck as well but not as reliable as this model was.

I like where you said "it wanted to live" I have a 1984 720 and I have said that about it. That I could feel its refusal to die. I made a pact with this truck when I felt that desire to live.. "Betty, I says to the truck, as long as I'm alive I won't let you die either."

I owned the same truck back in the day. A great truck....except for it's rusting quick in Chicago (winter road salt) .. wish they made something like this today... simple & reliable.

I just bought myself an 1983 Datsun Nissan King Cab. I paid.. may want to sit down for this.. $3000.. I know but now it did come with a camper shell a pull behind trailer also, plus it was hauled to my place from across the state. Well now it's time to give her an old over haul on the body bcuz I see a lot of rubber dry rotted. After that it should be good. Thanks for sharing your video.❤

Keep that old Nissan going with love and she will take care of you. I drive a 2003 Nissan frontier and that truck has built more houses and done more work then must big mall crawler diesels! Mines an 83 too but it looks like the later 720 version and this one combined, it’s blue as well but has Nissan and Datsun emblems, z24 engine, Nissan embossed on the tailgate with a Datsun sticker on the left corner of tailgate, the later gauge cluster, power steering. An oh it’s the deluxe

Hey my guy, I have this exact truck only 82 and in diesel, same light blue color. I love her to bits; where can you get a truck that gets mid 30's mpg? Question: any tips on replacing the seats? Mine are torn up, but this truck only has 170k miles. Plenty of years left.
    Great video, by the way.

Yeah seats from a 1996-1999 Isuzu rodeo are a direct bolt in. Crazy but true. Seats in this one were trash when I got it. These came from a low mileage 99 rodeo that had just arrived at the junk yard when I found it. Nice that you’ve got the diesel.

Dude, that truck was about the saddest, poorest looking thing you ever saw. It was so covered in tree stuff and sunken into the ground that I didn't even recognize that it was a 720--and I'd already owned 720s before--until like a year after I moved onto that street. It had sat for 12 years. I NEVER thought that truck would move again, even when I paid for it. You know what? It needed a battery, and a tank of gas to start. I've never come across a car so deserted but so willing to live.
