As a plant owner I would have gone the natural way with just staining the wood and getting plants that like to crawl on walls naturally and such, adding the wire rack on top is actually brilliant for some hanging plants. She literally cleaned it and added all those things she just styled it to make it more resort-like. The point was to amplify the space and inspire ppl to think of apartment decorating differently.
You could skip the greens and maybe just hang some cool lights, windchimes, dream catcher, use your imagination! But hanging a curtain and putting down carpet gives some privacy when you want it. You could gang squares of carpet, cloth, etc. I liked that it gave privacy from the balcony above being able to just look right thru!!
This is gorgeous….but as a landlord…i know for certain that fake grass on a wood deck will cause the wood to rot if not properly stained. That deck isn’t properly stained. I hope this isn’t a high rain area and the deck get adequate sunlight daily…. It’s not a air flow issue it’s a sun issue too sun will keep from molding and rotting

I doubt they went to this length of decorating without permission from property management. Those eye hooks aren’t hurting anything and they aren’t holding anything heavy. The sheer curtain keeps them from frying in the sun. The spiders would be there no matter what. I’m sure they know that. Bugs are much more attracted to real plants, which they do have. Let these people enjoy their space. If it’s not for you, don’t do what they did. Simple.
The apartments I've rented didn't allow curtains and plastic greenery due to fire hazards. Some wouldn't even allow a small barbecue. Just potted plants and the one chair and mini table/stool I could fit. The finished look is nice, but I agree about the spiders! 😂

varnishing the floors isn't reversible in an apartment so I didn't do that but if I had a house that would've been a good idea. Also IDK how I would've done real plants on the ceiling...where would the soil go? genuine question.
@@SandySaintilus there's vertical planters at Bunnings. Some plants dont require soil. Visit a local hydroponics. Creepers you can train to grow that way. Sanding and staining the wood floors the owner would be happy for you to do, providing it's approved upgrades.

I’m a landlord I’ve had a tenant do this to my deck and ended up have to replace it bc it wet rotted and i knew over time it would weaken and could be a hazard and result in someone stepping thru. It’s ok on walls bc water runs down, but horizontal surface absolutely not. Wood shouldn’t be covered with anything until it’s for certain weather proofed and the deck in this video isn’t.
@@youre764 they are good company. i lived in a school bus for years in the wooded mountains outside of albuquerque, new mexico, where black widows are quite common. the ambient light from my windows drew them to the bus, and i kept them at bay by going out at night with diatomaceous earth in a poof bottle. they do not freeze, and an infestation is difficult to deal with.
Plastic disintegrates/melts in the heat and cracks in the cold. Plastic won't last longer than the lease. It'll heat up the space by 10-20° and with the curtain and rug there is minimal air flow. Which will help break down the plastic sooner. Real plants are seasonal, but are much more beneficial to our health and our environment.
I love it! The plastic greenery on the ceiling is different and unique. As for spiders, mint EO spray will solve that problem. I would love to do this at one of my residences in Florida but unfortunately it’s a great attraction to snakes there. Enjoy your time and know that your efforts are appreciated.
I live it! It would be so cool if they installed misters that went off every thirty minutes, in the greenery. It would feel so tropical and have a cool misty effect and make it look even more real. Not too mention it would feel great!
Yes, I agree. When I moved into my condo many years ago, the previous owners had put Astro turf on the balcony. I was told it had to go as it held water/dampness against the wood and could rot it. I also thought AstroTurf was kind of a fad that had seen its day?

I love this. Love its girl power putting it together too. They made good choices for an outdoor space with minimal changes. The artificial grass allows for low moisture retention when it rains. Proper, regular insect repellent will keep the space bug free. The rafter screws are minimally invasive. I would leave them in place upon leaving the rental.

Until the deck becomes unusable with temperatures over 80° in mid spring, because plastics heat up the area by 10- 20 + degrees. The curtains prevent breezes and the big thick plastic rug also blocks air flow. They will be smelling plastic air from all the out gasing. Plastic pollution is a thing and causes health problems.
I appreciate her creativity, but this is NOT no maintenance. The plastic ceiling will collect dust, residue, and bug nests and will have to be cleaned. The plastic grass rug will have to be cleaned. The curtain will need to be washed on a regular basis, especially in spring, since it's white and outside, which is more prone to dirt, debri, pollen, etc.

My friends invested in fake plastic grass for large part of their beautiful back yard. One very hot summer later the burnt paws of their dogs tore it out. It absorbs heat and can 140 degrees, I read online

I’m thinking about the rain 🌧️ as well! The area I’m in has birds, dragonflies, flies, wasps, mosquitoes and etc. This does look pretty cool.

the burnt paws of their dogs tore it out. It absorbs heat and can 140 degrees, I read online
it was in my condos dog park and we couldn’t use the park for most the day. it’s definitely a heat catcher
It looks really peaceful. The only thing I would change is, I would put a gravity chair instead. I would have the best of both world. I would be able to sleep on the gravity chair. ❤😂😂❤
