So you want to start lifting, but you are overwhelmed by all the information on the internet, by clicking on this video, you just made the best decision in your bodybuilding journey. Im gonna take you through all the steps necessary to get you to start lifting, i will also cover the basics of nutrition and supplementation and give you a full workout routine that you can follow. All of that without overwhelming you in the process, everything will be extremely easy to understand, and it will get rid of all of your fears and uncertainties you might have. Dont feel self concious, no one will judge you jsut because you are skinny or overweight, everyone started somewhere, people will be more than happy to help you out if you ask them. This video also includes a full workout routine, which you can follow! This training routine focuses on the basic exercises which will be the most important ones moving forward. This is a 4day workout split, which consists of workout A and workout B. Always warmup before your workout atleast a little bit. The basic exercises are: benchpress, incline benchpress, overhead press, squats, pull ups, deadlift and biceps curl. Try to master the technique of these exercises, its better to drop down the weight a little bit, a really try to execute the movement properly. If you do all of this, you will get big fast! You should also follow progressive overload and track all of your workouts. Of course dont forget about protein, consume 1gram of protein per 1lbs of bodyweight. While spreading this amount between 3-5meals. Then its also a good idea to find out your maintenance calories, and find out if you need to bulk or cut depending on if you are skinny fat, skinny, or just fat. Last thing you need to know, is what supplements to use, protein powder and creatine are for sure worth your money. BCAAs and EAAs are not worth it in my opinion. Apply everything you just learned in this video, and finally get muscular like you always wanted!

Hey can I do pull over instead of pull up
Can I use dumbbells instead of barbell for barbell row too?
It's not that I'm scared of how people view my body, I'm scared about looking dumb using a machine incorrectly.
Exactlyyyyyy
If the person is judging you for something small like that while you're actively trying to better yourself, then their opinion isn't even worth considering.
Easier said than done, I know
@@braydengrenier5089 I wish I could ignore their opinions. But I can't, I cannot take embarrassment. :(
Someone might see you doing stupid things and help you. You might make a friend. The gym WILL break your ego. It'll humble us in how strong we think we are, It'll ask us to be humble. We will sweat and stink, and make horrid faces and sounds, wel will look silly, too. And this is all required sacrifice for the gym gods. If we don't be humble enough to be embarrassed and humble, we don't make gains. Being humble enough to recognize you might (WILL) look silly is the beginning of the journey. When we recognize that we look silly, we make room for others to do it too, and that makes peers of us all.
I believe you can do it.
@@gonzo5648 wow that was so profound. I’ll try once I heal. :)
As a personal trainer who has worked with a wide variety of clients, I loved this video. Simple, non-complicated, and beneficial for beginners entering the gym. Please keep making amazing content.
In my opinion an absolute beginner shouldn't be doing squats because its a very hard movement to learn and to do correctly
@@larathebikergirl1439 it depends on how comfortable they are with the movement, could start with bodyweight box squats, or goblets. I like to get my clients if they're complete beginners to use pin and goblet squats, on different days. With pin squats, I set them a target every week to try and get lower and lower. Bar weight only to start. Once they can be low and comfortable it's time to add weight baby. And goblet squat helps keep their Thoracic extension.
@@larathebikergirl1439it’s also the most beneficial to learn to do, and to put the time into early.
It’s simple, and he’s mentioned focusing on form throughout the video.
@@chillchinna4164 i agree that beginners should def do squats, but squat forms require a lot of adjustment, and can vary based on body type and change throughout your fitness journey. as a personal example, my boyfriend was overweight when he first started lifting, and we had to change up his stance every week in the first two months because he got stronger, got more flexible, and lost weight.
it'd be fantastic if beginners can get guidance from a personal trainer to check their form, but the primary audience of this vid seems to be people who probably won't do that lmao. but as long as the person is very mindful of learning their own body and finding a form that works for them, they'll be fine.
@larathebikergirl1439 that's funny because I'd say that critique is more relevant for deadlifts
its so refreshing to see a fitness channel which isnt annoyingly overedited and just straight forward great stuff
I want to be strong so I can make my future wife and kids feel safe

Then train box, muay thai, wrestling or smth like that, gym is only esthetichs.

I've been lifting for about 15 years now. Whenever a friend asks how to get started, I tell them the same thing this video covers. Unless I'll be going with them to the gym, I point that at the stronglifts wiki for form advice. But now, I'll just send them this video! It's presented in such a kind and easy way. This is THE go-to video to get started at the gym.
I’ve been wanting to get moving more for like a month now, but it’s been so long since I last exercised intentionally (about 3 months) that I’ve just been frozen and unable to bring myself to start. You came across as so kind and caring in this video and made everything so easy. This is the first video I’ve found that actually makes things look doable when you’re starting from where I’m starting! I’ve always been a little stronger and more flexible than the average person of my size/activity level because I was a gymnast for 10 years, but I have asthma that makes it extremely difficult for me to do even most “beginner” workouts I find. This one doesn’t scare me at all and I know I’ll be able to actually do it!
He is 100% correct. No one will judge you, because everyone has to start somewhere. 🥰🥰🥰

Eh, I am fat fuck that recently started gymming at age 30. Lost 22kg now, buuuut people actually tried to put me down in the gym and made ridiculous comments about me early on. Now, thankfully I don't give a fuck and I don't have body image issues, but if I did chances are I would have quit. Some people are just assholes, and they are everywhere. I just ended up telling them to fuck off and talked to the gym staff, they got banned from the gym after a couple of more weeks and I'm still going 6 days a week.
The truth is: MOST people won't judge you, SOME people will. Fuck them.
This is the best video i have ever made...so far...🔥 Hope you guys like it! ❤

So glad I found your channel, I'm a chronic overthinker and I tend to overly complicate gym in my head, this video was just what I needed, thank you!
Same, I have been doing hours and hours of research just confuisng the hell out of myself. Seems like im getting different information everywhere I look
@@flonkas If youre a beginner, literally just create a routine and then start. For example just do the workout of the guy in the video, monday chest shoulders and legs, tuesday back and biceps wednesday rest and repeat for thursday and friday then rest saturday and sunday and start it all again on monday
I used to do tons of research to optimize everything and found that it doesnt really work. Just learn how to do the exercises on your plan properly and do them until you cant anymore. Once you find stuff that used to be hard getting easier, add more weight or reps to make it hard again. That plus eating protein equals gains. Its pretty simple really.

I’ve recently started the gym and set this program in the boostcamp app for 12 weeks. Want to stick by it to see how it goes.
@@dan-qi6edhey bro I have a question about the program in the video
This is the exact support I need to actually work out, just hearing things like ‘you’re cleaver, you can figure it out’ when talking about stretches means so much to me because over the years of looking for ways to actually work out at the gym they always make it so complicated and intense, and even just the fact that this is animated takes off the stress of hearing this from those intense body builders (I’m not saying you aren’t one of those but you make me feel comfortable) this is all to say thank you and keep this up 😁
You're cleaver.
Yar a cleaver Harry - Butcher Hagrid
You break lifting down into such easy steps and take the anxiety out of being a newbie. This has really helped me start lifting! Thanks man.
I've been stuck 'researching' fitness for years. I've spent untold hours thinking about every little detail like that would make it easier for me to do something about myself.
I've had a gym membership for 3 months. I've paid for it every month, and hadn't so much as gotten an access tag yet. I've been beating myself up the whole time for not being able to get my ass to drive down there and even try. It isn't far, I have the time, but just thinking about walking in there has always paralyzed me with fear that I haven't ever gotten past putting on some workout clothes.
Today I went down there, got an orientation and just did workout A. I'm mostly untrained so even with no weight on the bar it wasn't easy but I feel incredible.
Thank you, I can't put in to words how much this helped me today.

I'm not a gym beginner but the way you're very beginner friendly makes me wanna hop on the gym with you brother
I remember being a newbie in the gym and it was always packed and me being self-conscious was embarrassed for the first couple of weeks. But after consistently going it’s been great. So whenever I see someone being shy I encourage them so that they know the gym is a safe space too!
I want to thank you. I started using this workout program December 2023 (including eating, sleeping, water, protein, and creatine). For the first time in my life, I have actually gained some weight (close to 5 pounds)! My legs are already looking amazing (my compression shorts fit super tight now). I can see my chest popping in. This video really helped me get in the gym with confidence and a plan. A true game changer. You the man! 💪🏾
*Update: it’s been 2 months and 7 days and I have gained nearly 10 pounds by following the advice and workout plan from this video (I added a few exercises here and there since starting). I work out 4 days a week, every single week. For the first time in my life, I am gaining weight and my body is changing. Anyone reading this, stay committed and consistent and it will happen. I’m so happy and I look forward to the next few months of progress. Thanks again stick man personal trainer 🙌🏾 (ps. I was 123 on Dec 18th, 2023. It’s February 25th, 2024 and I around 131 lbs)
My goal is the same. Starting tomorrow. Congrats to you!
I’ve gone 1 month so far and while I have notice the physical changes yet, I definitely gotten stronger.
I’ve added a few exercises too. I added back extensions and replaced the deadlift with Romanian deadlift(due to a lower back dysfunction I’ve been struggling with). I’ve also added walking lunges to workout A.
What are the exercises that you added to your program?
@@breezothetheologian7486 what’s up?
Bro how is your progress 7-8 months after you started , Im curious?
I always knew it was so simple but I’ve felt anxious that maybe I’m missing something, so I wouldn’t try. Turns out the only thing I’m missing is the effort. I feel invigorated thanks to you.
Man, I saw a trainer for 6 months. Told her from the beginning my goal was to learn how to use a barbell. I never graduated from dumbbells to barbell, and at the end of 6 months when I asked about it, she said she had me on a weight loss plan, not a strength plan. I’m barely overweight, and all my bloodwork and vitals have been fine. I really feel cheated and am honestly hesitant to go back to the gym now.
I feel sorry for your waste and how you've been treated. But one bad experience should not determine how your future and goals will look like:-) keep your head up, rest as long as you need to clear your mind, and catch those dumbells and barbells; we're waiting for you in the gym, champ!
trainers from temu:
Well lesson learned - you don't need a trainer to learn how to use a barbell.
Juat do the excercises with an empty bar to get a feel for what you gotta do (something experienced people do to warm up anyways), look at your movements in the mirror, then add weight as needed.
I fell in love with the barbell - way more engaging and rewarding than most of the machines.
I see
Did you lose weight tho?
I really appreciate this straight forward material. I look all the time for workouts that are just sensible and let me get get on with things
I’m someone who doesn’t really want huge muscles and just wants to get stronger and gain a moderate amount of muscle but this is honestly the best guide I’ve seen and my journey into fitness and my body’s health will begin this coming Monday when I finally go to the gym, wish me luck!
Even though I am at a beginner-intermediate level, I haven't been able to find a consistent workout routine, just because of plethora of exercise options available.
After watching this video, I got a key lesson to keep-it-simple, and that not every workout needs to focus on hitting all the right muscles.
Thanks to you, I just did a workout by myself after a long time. Hoping to make it a habit.
This is a begginer eventually you'll need of you want train all muscles
Thank you so much, I've been searching for ages and theres barely any videos that cover this much, theres really a lot to learn and I was stressing myself out before even starting going to the gym, hope more people get to see this

As someone who attempted to start gymming about three times seriously now (every time I lasted for about 2 months of 4 day splits), this is extremely nice to hear. In the sense that I cannot explain how great it is to hear that it does not have to be complicated. That I do not need to strap my head and each limb to a different machine and do circus pieces. You gave me the motivation to go at it again brother. Thank you. Also, I can't figure out where you might be from, if you do not want to share, that's totally cool, was just wondering! :D

Hey bro I have a question about the program in the video
I just started going to the gym at the start of December because a friend said they would go with me. They have been going for almost 2 years now and they have been a great help in keeping me going and making sure I feel comfortable. Being a very introverted person and overthinker going alone was a massive fear of mine. I've been enjoying the time though I'm not a light guy I'm 6ft and 225lbs but I'm very glad they got me to start going. I've been worried though that im moving on up with weights too fast, I'm doing a full body and started my first week with just the bar for everything, but now I finished week 4 and im at a 185lbs deadlift at 5 reps for 3 sets. But my bench press hasnt been increasing as much my highest bench I can do atm is only 65lbs maybe 75lbs. It has me worried I might not be doing it well enough to get the muscle going even though that weight im at failure on my 8th rep
Going to start hitting the gym soon! I saw this video because I've needed a good bit of knowledge (and a hint of motivation) to start getting the best me I can possibly imagine. Thank you, Winny!
As always, thank you for the video! Had a rough day since I failed to do a progressive overload for my pull day today, but saw your video makes me happy again and try to enjoy the process more for tomorrow. 🔥🔥
Enjoying the process, thats what im talking about!
This is some great stuff and I am so glad to have found your account I'm learning a lot from your videos!! Could you do a video for people with only access to dumbells or something similar?
Man, ty for your videos! They are excellent to motivate you to exercise and not complicate yourself with things that are useless.
I’m trying to get back into weightlifting after lazily taking a few years off, and this video was perfect. Thank you for showing us the basics and not asking for money… you’re a true king sir 👑
Hey man. Just saw this after deciding that I would finally start becoming fit. Thank you very much for creating an easy-to-follow video that answers most beginner questions. One could easily get lost in the sea of overwhelming information from the internet. I'm grateful that this video carves a path for us newbies to follow. There were so many lightbulb moments in my head all throughout, and I am confident I can follow through my goals successfully.
I have high hopes for this channel. I'm looking forward to see your success!
Best decision of your life, lets get the gains!
I already knew this stuff but this video motivated me to go to the gym! Thank you! :)
Just wanted to comment and say that this video got me back into the habit of working out. Your other videos helped me break other mental habits (especailly the News Years Resolution video) that were weighing me down. I've really let my body atrophe from when I used to play Rugby and every time I looked in a mirror, I hated what I saw, and just didn't want to start (or really know how too tbh). I never *had* to work out back then-- I was just naturally fit. Now I'm flabby and my arms are lanky and weak. But I am now fixing that. And it's THIS video that got me to turn things around.
I'm on week 2 of consistently doing weight training every other day, using your dumbbell-only exercise routine. Week 2 of doing "one healthy thing a day", like eating salads for lunch and making sure I walk every day I'm not doing weight training for a few miles. The routine is established and I like the rythme of things.. I feel better. I don't have the progress I want but that will come with time. Thanks for making this video and making it so approachable. You have quite literally helped me in a very tangible way to course-correct. All the love and good health to you and yours Mr. Winny.
Question: how hard should I be pushing myself during weight exercises? As in, my arms are finally no longer shaking when doing benchpress / incline bench press / skull crushers @ 15lbs and they're starting to become used to this tension. My dumbbells go up to 25lbs so I will be able to push myself further, but nothing feels like it did on day 1, when I was absolutely sore. Now things are just relaxed. Should I be constantly sore the day of or the day after a workout? Or is that pushing myself too far? That's the only question I have after watching you videos-- what is the "safe" place to be once you're done with the workout in terms of body-pains. Sore? Mildly sore? Super sore? Not at all? Thanks!
Hey, man - I've been doing your routine for precisely 4 weeks now (4 days a week, 3 days rest) and I'm very grateful for this routine! I'm making moderate progress aesthetic wise but I feel so much better and stronger now, I'll update you guys next month!
Don't rush it. It takes months of consistent training to build real permanent muscle. Make Sure you're not psyching yourself out, and try to make your gym routine and diet as simple and sustainable as you can.
If you have a busy schedule that prevents you from eating or sleeping or getting to the gym, it will kill your gains in the long run so make it easy on yourself. Good luck man

I have completed three months and love this plan. It's very good for sticking to basics and developing discipline.
Thank you man for this video. Tomorrow is my first day going to the gym and I feel confident and prepared to start this journey of getting bigger. This def made me less scared of the gym
How did it go? I am about to restart a gym membership soon too
Yesterday was my first day, many parts of my body are slightly sore today but it's so rewarding
This simple, charming video was the motivation i needed. I already go to the gym, but with less of a goal and just being active once/twice a week. Im hyped to get started with this, thank you!
So glad i found your channel. Simple, concise and endearing!
Yes a simple training guide. I like this and will do this. I'm beginner at 4 weeks and haven't entirely found my ways yet.
I'm 1 month in following this video now, i lost a shit load of weight (about 170lbs) before starting the gym and have lost another 8 in the past month. At the start it was tough after not doing any real exercise for 10+ years but now I'm enjoying it and can see myself doing this long term. Thank you all for the motivation and I hope this convinces someone else to try.
Update1: 2 months in now. I hit a 110kg deadlift for 6 reps today, 60kg squat but i have some issues maintining form through the lift (i think i keep leaning forward) and 50kg bench which has been the most difficult to progress on so far. Going to the gym just feels like a normal part of life now which is a really nice feeling.
How has the muscle growth been, do you notice any visible changes?
@@funkguylorz7315 I'm not sure, I still have a good amount of body fat to lose so that probably makes any differences a bit less obvious. Plus it will probably just take amount of time to see a difference. I do feel a lot stronger though and I can add more weight or do more reps basically every time I go to the gym.
may i ask how do you apply progressive overload on the 10 reps exercises? 7-10 reps??
@@christopherkevin9486 the way I've been doing it is I'll have a weight on the bar, I will keep doing this weight until I hit the max rep range eg. On a exercise of 3 sets of 8-10 reps, I will stay at the same weight until I hit 3 sets of 10 and then add 2.5kg to the bar next time I go and start again. This might be wrong but it's how I've understood progressive overload so far
Finally a bare bones outline of what I should do at the gym. I have been asking my buddies but they're all over the place or maybe I just don't understand them too well. This video helped me so hard!
Going to the gym for the first time ever today, thank you for relieving the absolute anxiety that is coming there as an underweight skeleton with a dad bud, with no clue how to start
This should have a billion views. Thank you brother.
Thank you for watching!
This is exactly what I needed. I’ve been trying to go to the gym but it all seemed really overwhelming every time I tried. Thank you and great video :)
Watching this video did something to me and I actually got my ass to the gym a month ago. Now I look forward to working out and feel awesome when I do. Thank you, Winny.
thank you so much for this! i finally got a gym membership about 3 months ago and i was loving my time there for the first month, but i got overwhelmed by all the different fitness influencers, workouts, etc. to a point that i ended up losing all my motivation to actually go to the gym. this video couldn't have been recommended for me during a better time.
Awesome, lets get some gains!
Hey bro I have a question about the program in this video, please help me
Even though I'm way past a beginner I still watched this video cause of how much I love watching your videos
Thats the spirit! Thank you!
Hey man. Just stumbles across your channel looking for a beginner friendly routine for first time gym goers. Thank you for making this!
i gotta say i was confused about alot of stuff but after watching this videos it helped me put the last pieces of what i needed to know and i thank you for explaining it as simple as you could really helped me understand
after watching all of your videos and landing on this one, I've finally have made the decision to go and get back into shape and get stronger. I'm a typical lurker on youtube and the internet as a whole and rarely comment or interact, however I really enjoy your content so much that I've also decided to subscribe to your patreon. winny is such a much needed breathe of fresh air in the massive sea of fitness content. all these athletes, trainers, influencers, and content creators all give such vast and varying information that gets so exhausting to understand and stick with. especially for a new lifter. thank you winny for your hard work!
You are the goat! Thank you! ❤️
Just started working out in a gym instead of doing sports since i cant play anymore. 238 lbs and definitely over 20% body fat. will check back in 6 months and let you know how it goes. thank you so much for helping me learn.
starting with 4 day split will go to 6 this summer!
@@optic_0can you tell me your 4 day split? Is it similar or is it different?
hey dude im just getting into it, im 210 wanting to get to 170, hows it working out for you??
@@callumgodden5707 still above 200 lbs but definitely closer to 14% body fat!! i hit a new pr literally last night on deadlift (~250 lbs) and couldnt be happier, keeping a schedule while in college has been tough, and family has taken some hits but im staying strong and pushing through!
Progress update?
This is the most refreshing and encouraging fitness video i've seen since discovering Buff Dudes. Thank you!
Just wanted to drop a comment here. I’m just getting started with a gym habit and this was accessible enough to me that I’ve been to the gym 9 times in the past month - 7 more times than last year. Thanks for making all this sound achievable for a beginner!
Just wanted to say thanks for making it simple, I made a gym membership a week ago and just finished my first week on the program. You rock dude it’s exactly what I needed.
Hey bro I have a question!
@@breezothetheologian7486what’s up?
This is exactly what I needed. I had been to the gym many times in the past but was so confused and lost. I'd often do random workouts and it just felt really pointless.
Having a basic plan of action to work off of, the "basics" as you put it. Will most definitely now put me on the right path. It especially makes me feel less nervous in general about looking really silly lol. Glad you popped onto my feed! Liked and subbed!
Would you recommend someone who's more husky to stay in that "slightly overweight" deficit?
Cheers for this mate. Ive been going for a week but i never reallh learnt a routine so i just looked at the form and did basic exercises with no directions. This will massively help. Thank you 🙏
Im starting my gym journey Tomorrow! So excited. Currently 16Yo,155lb,173cm height, Thank you so much for this video Trainer winny, it really help all my fears and Confusion before going to the gym!
I’m gonna go this afternoon. Currently 16y/o, 105lb/47kg, 5’5ft/167cm. Wish me luck!!!
47 kg?Damn .How did it went?@@bawicz0
Sooo how is it going?Do you had any negative experience?
I m sure that soon you will hit 100 k or even 1 mil your content is very good and fresh i hope you will dont forget your first viewers 😂
This video was very relaxing and simple to watch. I really appreciate the authenticity 💪🏿
Man, bless your soul. Such a sweet and straight to point video!
Hey man! I just wanted to say thank you for this! I Have been stressing for years over the most complicated workouts, diet and things of that sort. I am always considered the gym rat but hinestly i dont even workout that much. I decided just to kick it back to square one and learn the basics again. Maybe I can grow faster than i did before! I hope to see some progress
how did it go
@Invisiblepuffz really good! Bench went from 165 to 240.
Squat went from 225 to 305
Deadlift went from 255 to 345
Going from fancy excersises to simple staple excersises really helps in every way this guy teaches.
Heyy it's mee (the one who messaged you about the beginner's routine)
Literally was waiting for this lol going to try this tomorrow for suree
Lets go man! Good luck!
I just found this channel and it is absolutely the best.
I talked to some "coaches" before who do online sessions that wanted to charge hundreds of euros for the basic info and plans. I am a total noob, don't need anything complicated, just needed to know where to begin in a nutshell.
So thank you
