They almost let my child die. I was able to beg friends for money. They said I had to pay the deductible before they would do the surgery. The insurance ended up charging even more for the surgery. They don't care if we live or die.

But insurance doesn't charge for surgery? The doctor charges for the surgery. So the doctor charged you more for the surgery. The insurance company applied your plan deductible and cost share that is agreed upon in the insurance policy.

also so distasteful the way they question his background and his family -- i'm sure any mother would be experiencing some sort of anguish over not hearing from her son for several months, and they have the nerve to question the length of time she waited before filing a missing person report. She was probably in denial and reluctant to give into the thought that her boy was really gone. In another segment someone questioned whether mangione even had back pain or surgery. It's wild that the media keeps throwing around such reckless speculation of total strangers, some who aren't at all involve in this case.

The funny thing is that people like Brian are the sick ones, deluded by a fiendish reverence for excessive amounts of money and power. People like Brian Thompson epitomize the sickness and derangement of our corporate society that values greed over all else, including human lives. The suspect is actually the sane one, who felt pain for both himself and the millions who suffer every year under the oppression of companies like UHC. The suspect saw that nothing will change without some monumental act of courage, and he sacrificed himself for a cause. He is by far the more tethered to reality of the two people involved in this case.

Insurance is supposed to be about helping people in need, not making huge profits and paying CEOs millions of dollars. No CEO needs to earn $10 million. $200,000 is more than enough. The rest of that money should go toward saving lives and helping people who are struggling. It doesn’t matter how much it costs, if someone’s life is on the line, the priority should be to help them and save their life. Insurance companies shouldn’t be sitting on billions while people can’t get the care they need. People pay for insurance to help others in need, trusting they’ll get help when it’s their turn.

Most mentally ill people never engage in violence in their entire lifetimes. I’m not saying his innocent, but there are SO many odd things and holes in the story that don’t add up, yet the world has already labeled him as a incel, sociopath and he may get the death penalty. But the timeline makes no sense, false information is all over the internet, and a ton of people are profiting over his defamation. Becoming angry and fed up after witnessing prolonged and rewarded unjust behavior isn't a sign of mental illness. Yes what he did is illegal but if anyone looks you in the eye and says they don't understand why he did it, that person is lying to both you and themselves. I hope he's tried in New York City because if so he has a very real chance of being acquitted by a jury of his peers. I can't speak to what he would do with his life after that happens, but it would at least be a moment in history that we could point to to show that the middle class has its own version of power that money simply can't buy. It shouldn't have to be fear that motivates the rich to do the right thing, but it also shouldn't be money that motivates them to do the wrong thing. I feel sorry for Brian's family, but at the end of the day this would not have happened to him had he made better decisions that were well within his power to make.

Brian was too brainwashed by money and the corporate system to do the right thing. He lost his way a long time ago. Everyone is focused on what went wrong with the person that did this, but there is no mention of Brian’s sinister motives, in which he makes $18 million per year while poor people suffer at his hands. Their premiums go to paying his salary and making him rich instead of paying for their much needed healthcare. Brian represents the sickness of the American corporate system. That his behavior was tolerated just goes to show how warped our society is. The person behind this is justified in their anger and is far more attached to the reality of suffering than people like Brian ever will be.

    Copy/pasting this everywhere I can.
JURY NULLIFICATION: presenting a ‘not guilty’ verdict even when the jury believes the defendant is guilty. Typically used when the sentence is too harsh, the law is unjust, or TO SEND A MESSAGE ABOUT A SOCIAL ISSUE GREATER THAN THE CASE!!!
It's based on the jurors’ sense of justice and morality, NOT THE PRESENTED EVIDENCE.
First rule of jury nullification: DO NOT TALK ABOUT JURY NULLIFICATION! It's one of the justice system’s biggest secrets. No judge, attorney, or official will tell you about it. It is not meant to be spoken about, but still very legal. TALKING ABOUT IT WILL REMOVE YOU FROM THE JURY OR EVEN CAUSE A MISTRIAL. YOU CANNOT TALK ABOUT IT. NOT EVEN IN DELIBERATION.
Second: YOU WILL NOT BE PUNISHED FOR GIVING THIS VERDICT!! As a member of the jury, you are protected by the Fifth Amendment (right to remain silent) SO IS THE DEFENDANT per the Fifth’s Double Jeopardy Clause- they cannot be tried twice for the same case. The verdict is final. They are not to be scrutinized or reviewed. Even when nullification is suspected.

Why would these people fuse a young man's spine and not use disc replacements? I was involved in a car accident in 2011. It took me almost 3 years to find someone who could actually perform a disc replacement instead of a fusion. I was told many times that disk replacements were for military personnel only, according to the FDA. And then when I found the person that actually could perform the surgery, the insurance said my surgery was experimental surgery , they couldn’t pay for it. Then they put a lien against my accident case to collect their money because the state of Maryland allow insurances to put a lien against your lawsuit.
I did my investigation into the M6 discs used in Germany and the rest of the world. I was told that the FDA had not approved them in America and that M6 discs have been used for over 30 years in other countries. I asked Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance if they would pay if I went to Germany to have the surgery. They told me no, they only pay local doctors. the FDA is very conniving. It doesn't approve anything unless they receive bribes.
With M6 discs within 30 days you’re up walking normal with no pain because it’s an imitation of your disc . They continue to fuse, put metal in our bodies so we can suffer in pain and get addicted to painkillers so they can continue making money. America has a whole is very corrupted. Wake up American people!! if Luigi actually did what they say he did, he’s a hero in my eyes. i’m tired of people saying murdering somebody. It’s not the answer… what is the answer?
