As a girl who likes goth fashion and wears gothic clothes it doesn't make sense to me as to why people hate it. Most goth people are and have the kindest souls you could ever meet. I went to a metal concert where there were tons of goth people and all of them were kind and swwet, some even became friends with me and my friends. People should learn to get to know one person better before talking like this about them.

I love dressing up in Gothic Attire cause I feel confident and comfortable. Seeing people saying it's a "Mental Illness" or any other thing doesn't understand the meaning of Gothic fashion. The child was mixed and this had nothing to do with race at all but people in the comments were saying that the mother made a terrible choice having a baby with a black man because her “white heritage” would be erased and her child would look nothing like her which is most definitely not how it works 🗿

Yeah, I'm goth and there's alot of times when I was being judged or stare at by random strangers and It's really uncomfortable. You can make jokes about us sure but telling us terrible things to bting us down is just not okay. I've been bullied myself and its really traumatizing, I really don't wish that on anyone.

In the goth mom part is very, very true. There's all this standards towards moms and how they should dress/look like and always get harshly critisized and attacked by their style for no reason, apparently you can't be a good mom without following christian believes and having a "normal" style. It should be obvious you can be both at the same time, a good mom and have an alternative style.

There are so many comments we get saying "Notice how it's only white women." There are TONS of POC in the goth community, I don't even understand why people put race and interest together when they are two completely different things. great video but I would really like to add that being goth or emo is NOT simply a "fashion choice". Goth and emo are both first and foremost music-based subcultures and the fashion comes second. You don't even have to dress in all black to be considered goth as long as you listen to the music. Otherwise a great video!

Actually besides the aesthetics goth/emo/scene look has a history that goes way back! It’s a very interesting topic in how it came about but as a subculture and lifestyle it’s very interesting, aside from the music putting in the effort to dress like that is very admirable (the mom for example) there’s also a sub religion of Gothic Christianity, aside from satanism.but yeah! My favorite has to be 2000 scene look, they’re so pretty.
I'm punk and my love for punk ideology, music, and culture is the only reason why I haven't stopped dressing in an alternative way. The way of dress is optional but for me its very deeply rooted into the beleifs I share with other punks. I can imagine it's the exact same for goths since we sprouted from the same thing (goths came from post-punk i think..?)

i dont get why people have this hate so ingrained into them. When i was in 8th grade i would have 5th and 6th graders BARK at me and my friends and tell us the straight up CUT for wearing black, but we werent goth nor emo. They dont even understand what it truly means to be goth or emo and it just hurts to know that if someone was truly, fully emo there theyd definitely be bullied to no end. I feel so awful for all the groups that have to go through all of this. Can society normalize being good people.
A lot of the comments you found also seem really ableist to me, as someone who is neurodivergent. Treating someone's interests as a mental illness and also implying that having a mental illness is evil/something to be ashamed of is absolutely never ok. Also cringe culture usually tends to be ableist as a whole because a lot of the "weird" communities have a lot of autistic and other neurodivergent people interested in them. But that shouldn't even matter in the first place because people just shouldn't bully others for any reason, period. My favorite quote I saw a few weeks ago: "I may be cringe but you are mean and that is worse." Just let people enjoy what they want. So long as they aren't hurting others or themselves who cares lol people need to learn how to mind their own business. It also just makes people look sad and pathetic when they're rude like this. There's always the double standard that people that comment those type of Hate Comments have. They are usually the one's that say that people should be who they are, until they see something they don't like that doesn't look "Normal" to them, and believe that their enjoyed "Normal" style of Christian or trendy type TikTok clothes as the regular clothes that people choose to be themselves as, that they feel the need to bully, harass, and send d3ath threats to those people that they deem as "weird".
It's awful to think that this type of behavior is normal nowadays, and people feeling the need to be this "mighter than thou" kind of person. I believe, ever since quarantine, people have chosen to be this type of cruel people because they think they have to be this sort of God of reason of what's right and true and what's wrong and lies.
And I can never understand how people can call a simple aesthetic or fashion a Mental illness, when it's literally...just clothes.

Great video! Though Goth and Punk are also genres of music, and the fashion came from the way those musicians dressed in the 70s and 80s. I highly recommend the video “A Beginner’s Guide to the Goth Subculture” by Elise Pool if you want to learn more.

When I was going through my goth/emo phase, I used to get barked at school, barked at while going home. And it just made me feel sad. I'm not even reallyand eno/goth any more, and I still get marked out for wearing a simple black shirt and black makeup, also because my hair is half purple and half black. In this day and age I have a feeling the people that rag on goths have the most boring lives. Like I could somewhat understand during the 70s-80s with the satanic scare but not post 2000s. Plus being goth/alternative is fun and makes me feel more human than being plain-jane 24/7. Also some of the best clubs I've been to were gothic venues.

A lot of people only like goths and alternative people if they’re the conventionally attractive kind that isn’t very out there in their style, their only liked when they’re just in like a black hoodie and simple eyeliner.
