Sitka spruce deliver some of the best sound.
I've got one of recording Kings blue size guitars in the line called easy tone. They were sent to spruce tops and my particular model was thinner body guitar. I think the easy tones worth in her. A real punchy guitar. Sounds similar to this one.

When I got mine the action was so low the strings were on the 1st fret 😂 I just cut a card into a rectangle and put it under the nut it’s perfect for slide now.

It's not a "parlor" it's a "single O". Recording King makes both sizes. What she says is not really correct about it not being great for strumming. For this price the thing sounds great for everything she mentioned: blues, fingerpicking, strumming. The guitar does need a set-up out of the box though for sure.

Your experience with this guitar is obviously different than mine. I still do not like the loud roar that happens when it is strummed. As for calling it parlor vs single - ok.

Nice guitar Mandy, parlours are a great for banjo players I rekon, for strings I discovered ''D'Addario ECG26 Flat Wound Chromes'' they are really smooth strings...excellent for slide!

I have a very similar model (the RPS-7 (the only difference I can see is the fretboard inlay) and I have had it for nearly 3 years and it’s great!
Banjo (and also Dobro/Steel Guitar) is my main instrument, but this guitar is great if when I want to bust out a guitar for a Jimmie Rodgers or Charlie Patton tune (Parlor Guitars are excellent for Early Country and Blues music!)
I saw this guitar used in the Netflix western Buster Scruggs! It certainly looks like a nice cowboy guitar! I actually play in a lot of Western Music (i live in New Mexico), but actually this cowpoke prefers playing cowboy songs on the banjo (cowboys playing guitar was really more of a Hollywood thing!)

Is there a truss rod adjustment?
