    I have been doing garbage runs for the last 2 years literally sifting through garbage finding working ceiling fans, old computer parts, lights, traffic signs, old furnature, complete living rooms and old cafe decorations, mannequins, chairs, old typewriters in Amsterdam, Holland. It has made me just shy of 150k over that same period. Just saying money is literally on the streets if you are wiling to go through the motions. People are just fucking "complacent" and lazy af. I just opened my own store called the good stuff factory in Belgium where I specialize in old vintage, retro chairs. You can make money from the streets and get your own place and get to do what you love to do, if you are putting in the work, I'm living proof of that.

      Team GaryVee Of course I can give you some tips. First off, let me tell you a bit about myself, so you know a bit of my story and how I got my motivation. I had a 30.000 euro debt and had just lost my job and was walking home from work at a boring office job. I lived in a bad area and walked home from my ex employer through a decent middle to upper class neighborhood.
      I saw their garbage outside and noticed a nice leather comfy but beaten up office chair by the side of the road near a garbage pile and hauled the heavy thing home. It took me a couple of days to make it decent again, I bought some cheapo shoe polish and cleaned it. then I put it on the dutch equivalent of graigslist called marktplaats and had the chair sit there for a week and got 50 euro's for it. And since I was unemployed, I started to do some math, I needed 24 of these items and I had myself a decent enough salary to stay unemployed, pay rent have food and do this full time.
      So here's what I did, I went online to look for the garbage pick up days of large garbage, they have separate days for that in Holland, and found out that it happened once every week. So I made a schedule and a map of the best neighborhoods and see how many of them where in biking range of my apartment. So every week I could go to the 3 best neighborhoods by bike and see what was left in the large garbage pick ups by the side of the streets. And to my surprise I found old usable computers and tables, chairs complete inventories of old cafe's sometime, once in a 4 or 5 month periods. Yes, I hauled entire couches on a bike, by walking next to it. All that stuff got photographed and went online. I then invested in a secondhand cargo bike. Which allowed me to haul more stuff and makes for an easier way to transport the larger stuff. I have biked miles upon miles, that got me fit as well. a positive side effect was that I lost about 30 kilo's I used to weigh in at 125, I am now 95, so that's nice as well and yes I did this during the winter months as well, at below zero temperatures. It became an addiction of sorts to just pick up free money from the streets.
      That got me thinking about looking for small offices, businesses and cafe filing for bankruptcy. Everything is online these days, it's literally on the web. They throw out almost everything if they don't have the funds to store the stuff or to put it up for auction, that actually happens a lot. So I was there on their next garbage disposal day and you don't even want to know how thankful garbage men are when you are literally making their life easier by picking up their large disposed desks or chairs? I was doing roundtrips to the same bankrupt disposal place about 6-10 times sometimes, if there was a lot of stuff. Soon enough, I ran out of space in my little apartment, so I rented a cheap storage unit at a self storage facility for 200 euro's that got too small within 2 years. Which got me to the place I am today. I never had a truck, I imagine that having a truck would make it even faster and easier. So there you have it, it's hard work but it got me where I am today and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
      That's pretty much all I can think off right now if you have any more questions feel free to ask me anything.

    This was what I used to do for years. Best deal made me approx. 4000 dollars on a car. The feeling you get from making a good deal is hard to beat. However, a warning - don't let greed get to you and try to trick people into buying shit or overpricing like crazy. I fell into that trapp, and when your moral values catches up with you, it's not such a good deal after all.

    I have a six figure day job. Work 60 hours between Monday & Friday. I hit up the local recycling centers on the weekend scavenge the electronics bin, repost on Amazon, make some repairs here and there, and that's easily good for 1-2k a month.

    • @TeamGaryVee
      @TeamGaryVee 6 років тому +1

      That's a really solid flip.. Is that $1k-$2k profit? What are your expenses like and what tips would you give the rest of the VaynerNation?
      - Calvin

    • @RoberForst
      @RoberForst 6 років тому +1

      Team GaryVee not profit. I have to ship the items, which I usually end up using USPS flat rate which can very but usually averagea $14, and then depending on if it's Amazon or eBay, they take a vig. Amazons vigs are high, but I have less issues with the clientele. When I get a TV that needs some new capacitors, a few dollar repair, I will sell those on Craigslist. But I have a wife and 4 kids, so I prefer not to spend all my free time trying to meet up with people that's why I go the online route.

    • @RoberForst
      @RoberForst 6 років тому +1

      Andrew Monheim definitely do it. I've found plenty of MacBook pros, reinstalled the of, maybe replaced a hardrive here or there. Recently sold a 6 year old one I found, installed fresh OS, and sold for $450.00.

    • @RoberForst
      @RoberForst 6 років тому +1

      Team GaryVee tips for VaynerNation would be find something your passionate about and look for opportunity. When you know a category it's easier to know what things sell for, and what things are hot. Hot is important. That way if have to put up cash for something that is a top 500 seller in that category on Amazon, you'll know it will flip quick, verse something that is in the thousands, you're probably going to have to wait for that sale. My brother is passionate about cars, and has become friends with many dealers. He goes to one dealers lot checks their trades, calls up other dealers he thinks are interested and is making a few hundred a car just doing that. Find something you know and start there. There are so many hustles out there it's said that people say there's no work. I'll make $300 working from 10pm to 2:30am Friday and Saturday with Uber. There is so much out there, and you don't need much to start.

      pianos are no good, people give them away because no one is willing to move them. TVs generally the same thing, you wont find flat screens on there typically. Sometimes. But usually 2 ton old tvs. Fridges, same deal. You can find good stuff but those 3 things in particular are hard to sell.

      Honestly the only tip that I could give from his experience was; persistence. I know that you have to "bird dog" a lot of internet if you're truly trying to win at this game. He ended up doing very well for himself but ultimately got tired of the hunt. So once he got the car, he just found his endgame. I know he went from free fire wood, to used tires, then to a kitchen hutch, then a rare set of VW taillights, some stereo ... but this was back in 2012ish or so. It was fun to watch, I may have to get in on that sometime.

      - Calvin

    • @hamburger-fries
      @hamburger-fries 6 років тому +3

      First off...working with customers making mobile apps and websites is very stressful simply because the customer has a vision and that vision changes during the project. On Craigslist you need to use a RSS reader and connect all the big cities in USA, CA, UK, etc. Then you need to respond to each CraigList Post in your genre around 6am in the local time of that city. You cant just post a cookie cutter reply. You need to respond to each post with a sincere reply. Then when that post owner wants a phone call you need to be 1 minute early for that phone call. In most cases you need a solid PRO contract which is often 9+ pages long. You will be competing with other companies all over the world. You need to be better than all of your competitors. My tip? Eat quality food with low inflammation. Drink green super food shakes with high fat and low sugar. Why? So you are not having brain fog and so you are super on-point with extreme sharpness of the brain. Exercise daily. My choice is usually MTN Biking or slow jogging in the forest. After your sales calls respond with a DRAFT contract in 24 hours or less. I often would fire off 6-10 draft contracts per day. It takes about 14-30 days to get your sales pipeline filled with sales. Have a solid answer for every possible question and if you dont have an answer then say "I dont know". Dont bullshit.
      About 1 year ago I quit software engineering completely! I love coffee and I noticed that in Japan the coffee market is overtly young or that the competition was almost zero compared to USA. I started out selling and roasting pour over coffee. To make my company different I vacuum sealed 51 grams of beans per aluminum pouch. All of my customers tell me they have never in their life had such fresh coffee. Its like an explosion in your mouth. Once I was financially stable with phase one I purchased a warehouse on a river ina remote mountain town in the Cedar forest and I a am in the end process of remodeling with 16 hotel rooms, a restaurant and a Cold Brew facility with some kickass equipment from CASK in Canada. Most of my life experience was from Silicon Valley around the start-up business community which in Japan is a massive advantage edge as most Japanese have no experience with running a new start-up. I am selling specialty coffee against major competitors such as Coca Cola and UCC (huge massive company in Japan). I have to pay huge "shelf" fees to begin contracts with massive distributors so I can get my cold canned coffee in vending machines and into 7-11's and other mini-marts. I also have been purchasing small refrigerators with glass doors and getting small stores and large grocery stores to stock my canned coffee (Remember Odwalla Juice?). In Japan the more locations and potential sales means I can obtain bank loans easier. I need roughly 20% cash deposit for a loan. So growth is very possible. I believe I can do and I am not scared which is something that took me most of my life. I am 45 years old. My wife has cancer last year and we cured her cancer using low inflammation diet with 16 hour fasts and superfoods. To be where I am now with 2 young kids.....I am happy.

    Thank you for showing humans how to have some humility left in them most of them have completely gone down to the animal level where they can’t even help everybody else to eat only their selves and those are the people who don’t stay in business long because they’re not humbled thank you for showing human beings that there is a God inside of us that can help others

    I legit just picked up like 8k worth of free stuff in the past week ending today with an entire almost-working Volvo with a clean title, no rust, or major body damage. Honorable mentions include 5 boxes of bubble mailers, 70 banana boxes, a hand tuck/dolly combo, big tube TV, projector, RGB LED strips, dual monitor setup, full size xerox machine, 5 apple routers, about 20 goodyear pneumatic air hoses, garbage bags of VHS tapes, cases of bike inner tubes, a couple AC units, and much more.

    Been doing this on and off, but recently hustled and bought a Sprinter Van for $1350 from selling stuff I found in the trash for free and reselling it on CL, FB or Ebay. I then drove past a theater loveseat setup (2 recliners etc) with my buddy that was being thrown out on the curb...it looked nice, we picked it up and drove it back to our garage and spent 10 whole minutes cleaning it. I took pics and listed it on CL and FB for $90 for a quick flip even though new it was probably like $700+. A guy came, loved it but lived 1+ hour away. He asked if we would do delivery in our van we just bought. We asked how much and he said $200 as a uhaul van for him would have been $150 and he couldnt get the sofa into his basement by himself. So for the convenience of delivery and him not having to do anything, we drove it to his house the next day, brought it down in his basement for him and he was so happy. So myself and my buddy turned $0 into $90, then into $290 with about 2.5 hours worth of work. Love doing it, had a fun roadtrip with my buddy and my tip for vanyernation is to offer delivery in your CL and FB ads (if you have the right vehicle) as people usually cant transport bigger things on their own and don't mind paying for delivery if you are reasonable.

    Another example. One time a part broke on my gas range in the kitchen. When I looked up the replacement cost of the part I was looking at $60. Went to the FREE section of Craigslist and found someone giving away the EXACT SAME range (with the working part). So with a little elbow grease we swapped out the range, and kept all the parts from the old range that might be useful in case something breaks on the "new" one. The landlord who owned that house thanked me for "upgrading" appliances like that (with free replacements) when I moved out.
    A scrapper drove by after we took the old range to the curb and it was gone an hour after I put it out there - so even the BROKEN range kept paying itself forward for someone else!
    I saved $60 by getting a whole new range vs the part I needed (and it was less of a pain in the ass to replace the range than the part would have been). Had the new range installed before the part would even arrive from mail order.
    You can't FUCK with the free section if you live in a big city. You can furnish your whole house with it.

    Invest in sand paper, some cheap wood dyes/paints/stainers and restore old furniture. A free old wiggly coffee table to you, becomes a smooth rich brown 40 dollar living room center piece on facebooks market or craigslist.

    this work so well, especially if you live in a big city like New York, LA, Dallas, or Chicago. I live about 30 mins away from Chicago and they're always giving away shit almost new too, which is fucking ludacris if you don't take advantage of it. thanks Gary.

    Dude, I've picked up numerous things on the FREE section on Craigslist and then SOLD the shit ON Craigslist right after. Almost any time I need ANYTHING these days I check Craigslist first. I picked up a rototiller for $15 (and had to meet a guy in the parking lot of an adult bookstore, but PA is a gun friendly state so I was ok with that)... I sold the rototiller AFTER doing my gardening for $50 sight unseen.
    I bought a portable full size dishwasher once for $150. The people I bought it from BROUGHT IT INTO MY KITCHEN for me, handed me dishwasher soap, and the sink adapter and I had dishes being washed 5 minutes later.
    When I SOLD the dishwasher, I sold it for $200 and the people who bought it from me showed up with a dolly and TOOK IT OUT OF MY KITCHEN FOR ME...
    In the end I was PAID $50 to hold onto a dishwasher for 3 years, use the shit out of it, and then let someone come pick the thing up from me.
    I got through the whole 2008 stock market crash by hustling on Craigslist. It literally saved my ass from being homeless.
    I currently own a $1,000 Lovesac 8 foot wide beanbag chair I got for FREE on craigslist because I was willing to come pick it up. We threw an old couch off of a balcony for fun when I came home with that thing.
