I was on the harvest run of '78. We had Massey 760s. They were broke down almost every day. That year the majority of combines on the run were L2 Gleaners. I was jealous of them.

@@truebluebluetick Never had any major trouble with the combine I was driving other than when we got to Montana my Air Conditioner went out. I cut the last month with door open and breathed a lot of wheat dust. The truck and trailer broke down more than the combine.

@@KenWalker-g7z haha pretty common!! Way back when we ran a L2 and L3 harvested many days with the door open and no shirt on! Didn’t mind much when I was 15 today I’d probably shut down and get it fixed

If the lead machine turns the corner leaving the corner standing the second comes and runs off the end circling around taking the standing corner off. Then the third combine turns and leaves the corner, and then cycle continues. That way one machine is always running full and the other is running empty except taking the standing corner off as he turns the corner. Saves fuel and time.

Hey Mike! If you ever get around up here in 40 miles from the Canadian border right in the middle of North Dakota, we run 3 turned up '81, '82, and an '83, 895 Versatiles, The two that run the air seeders is my own 400hp 855 big cam Cummins with an Atom-Jet hydraulic tank on the nose to run my airseeder fan, and Dads is the slightly newer "Candy Striper" 390 hp 855 Big Cam with a updated hi flow hydraulic kit strapped to his 2320 Flexi-Coil air cart, and my 400hp pulls my 787 John Deere (green painted 2320) Air Cart both hooked to 40' 5000 Flexi-Coil drills behind, 1 Versatile runs the Brandt heavy harrow, Willrich Chisel plow converted to a Caulter, old Krause '29 Disk, '40 international caultivator, and the Summers bean roller, along with a John Deere 8630 pulling a matching old school John Deere 20 something foot disk (I think it's a 23-24 foot), a BIG Woods Batwing mower for low spots or pulling stuck tractors out during springs work, my hay team is also that JD 8630 pulling a old donahue trailer with an Oliver 1800 Diesel Loader, G-1355 Oliver-White on my Frontier 1216 Moco (green painted Macdon 5020) conditioner, and a John Deere 4630 on my Vermeer 605XL baler, Harvest team encludes an '98 M11 75th Anniversary 1st one off the line painted R72, my '94 Air Cooled Duetz R-62, for straw bales we use the retired L3 with the Allis diesel and unhook the chopper, that same JD 8630 pulling a older Killbros 1200 Cart, '77 Early 855 big cam Cummins 4800 White-Western star Tandem that used to be a dump truck, 83' 8.2 Detroit fuel pincher C-70 Chevy tandem, '88 350 Big cam Cummins T-600 Kenworth tandem, '91 Cat 3176 FLD 120 semi Pulling an old 80s-90s rebuilt Merrit Sunflower trailer, and a 93 Cummins N14 FLD120 semi with a flat sleeper Pulling a old school Timpte with the quad single speed traps. Running around the yard we have a fleet of old single axles like the old International Load Star, Ford F600, Chevy Viking, Diesel Chevy C-80 Cab over and three 60's/50's Chevy and Ford Trucks I'm trying to get fired up, as well as an old C80 gasser cab over chevy tandem I'm converting and rebuilding to a hay truck. As you can see we usually run old iron on the farm 🤣 even our service pickups are from the 70's 80's and 90's (edit) our only issue is that its only myself, and my dad, mom is our pickup driver to transport us to vehicles, my big brother sometimes has time off being a semi mechanic or comes out on the weekends for harvest, but sometime soon I'd like to have a hired man or two to drive a combine/cart/semi during harvest, be awesome to rebuild my old L3 and even the L2 in the tree row and really have a helluva operation
