When Goku went Blue Kaioken against Hit that was one of the most hype moments in Super. Loved seeing the return of Kaioken. I know some people like to hate on Super but we can all agree that Super made the kaioken relevant again and that is a good thing

Just wanted to point out that before the cell fight when Goku and Gohan were in the time chamber, they mastered super saiyan and made it their usual state. After coming out of the chamber, Vegeta points out that they were still in super saiyan form and they were "calm". Vegeta didnt sense any rage from them. This may have contributed to how Goku didnt get shredded when using Super Kaioken as he was in a more calmer state of mind when in Super Saiyan form.

I viewed it sorta like a car engine: Kaio-Ken is like a nitrous injector, providing a short, intense, burst of energy, at the risk of ramping too fast and causing damage Super-Saiyan is like a turbo or supercharger, providing a more constact boost, but can run out fuel faster or cause the engine to overheat God-Ki is like a tesla, a completely different power source SSJ Blue is a hybrid-electric charging the battery using the gas engine Kaio-ken blue is then putting a nitrous system in that hybrid. it has a high chance of just causing an engine fire by putting too many amps into the battery at once. Goku figured out you might be able to do it, if it is a mild hybrid, the type that uses the electric motor to supplement the gas engine, instead of charging the battery using a smaller gas engine. In either case, after the engine cools down [he reverts to base] all that hot metal, especially the electrical connections, cools and possibly cracks, but each time he does it, he heals, replacing the parts that broke with stronger ones

Didn't expect a trilogy for the kaioken but i loved, anyways in no particular order i was thinking technique guides on majin buu's chocolate beam, human extinction attack, spirit bomb, telekinesis, jiren's eye technique, hellzone grenade, sphere of destruction, and im not sure if these count but I'll put them anyway, regeneration and absorption
I'd love to see a guide on the Negative Karma Ball (not 100% on the name) that Omega Shenron used, the effects of which were later dispelled by Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta in DragonBall GT. IIRC the mere presence of the Shadow Dragons cast a field of negative energy around the Earth, but Omega Shenron was able to focus negative energy into an attack.

And then he glared down SSB/KKx20 pushing with all of his might on a Spirit Bomb and stalemated him. Bear in mind, Pure Buu (who was close in power to SS3 Goku) was barely able to hold off the Spirit Bomb with Goku pushing on it with his tired-out base form. Jiren, using barely any power at all, had a far greater power difference from this alone.
Based on physics, there are two options with how the "time skip" works. The first, is with slowed time. Now, its said that it simply freezes time for a short moment, a moment that hit was able to multiply with his improvement technique. Now if time truly froze, people would be stopped entirely so i think it may simply be accessing an alternate dimension that simply is in the same space continuum but a weaker grasp on the time continuum allowing him to improve his influence on time space with his energy and warping it further to stretch how long time is slowed within the same space.....or it could actually be frozen time. Now, we all know that the z fighters, for a LONG time now, have had the ability to go beyond light speed... that being said, the closer you get to the speed of light, a color shift happens relative to your speed. Time and space are linked on a fundamental level so simply moving from place to place at normal speeds allow you to move forward through time, as we all do in our lives, relative, again to our speed.....but if we were to reach light speed, which would actually take an INFINITE amount of energy, or go beyond light speed, then you travel BACK in time. Knowing all this, it might be safe to say that goku was increasing his speed so much that he himself also affects his own time continuum allowing him to slightly move backwards in time within a forward linear movement in the space continuum which allows him to match hits frozen time. Effectively, goku is breaking the time space continuum in both cases solely based on his speed alone, which is also how jiren broken hits time hold binding in the tournament of power. Jiren poured enough energy into his body to go fast enough to affect the continuum long enough to move in relative time, through sheer brute force.
If there isnt one already..... Can we please get a blast deflection guide/theory video? like when Nappa's arm was numb when he deflected angry Gohan's Masenko? or maybe a video on what happens to a person during a beam struggle?? Like what it takes to win and the toll it takes on the mind/body/ki levels...

6:00 you actually can see that the kaioken is negatively affecting goku during the fight with Hit. Theres a moment where he says he cant hold out much longer. Meaning he is feeling the strain the entire time, he's just pushing through it.
I always found it strange with Kaioken Blue, where his hair had some whitish highlights to contrast his Blue. It seemed really cool to me til they went White with perfected( or mastered) Ultra Instinct.
I've always liked the concept of Kaioken Blue as long as Goku used it in spurts which seemed to be the case for each use except it's debut (for obvious reasons) and against Jiren while Goku teamed up with Vegeta.
Goku it NOT universal, he might be in MUI but nothing under this would do it. Toriyama is a senile moron anyway who just wants Goku to be like Superman.

The Kaioken is my favorite concept in Dragon Ball. But the execution of the technique I’ve always been mixed on. And Geekdom101 touched on a big reason as to why. In the first fight against Goku and Vegeta, you really felt the strain on Goku as he used the Kaioken. Even going one level above what he was supposed to what having enormous consequences on his body and after his times four, even a little slap from Yajirobe was enough to make Goku scream in pain. It really felt like that if Vegeta landed one good blow Goku would be down for the count. But the idea of mastering it to the extent where it no longer has any effect on your body at all, makes it come off as a transformation. In the Universal Survival Arc in Super, Goku was spamming x20 Kaioken through the whole arc with no consequences whatsoever. It makes the technique feel lame and you wonder why he doesn’t use it all the time. Imagine if in Naruto, Guy just jumped into the battlefield yelling that he’s mastered the eight gates and now he can use the death gate with no problem at all. It takes away everything cool about the jutsu. And that’s how I feel about Kaioken. In the hands of a good writer it can make any fight a lot more tense, but in the hands of people who just wanna see cool shit, all it is is another transformation.
You hit the nail on the head. I dislike the concept of mastering Kaioken ever since the Namek arc. And unfortunately it looks like Ultra Instinct is going to follow the same route from this point of the manga...
Not necessarily. As he master x20- but only that. Remember: Kaio-Ken is a MULTIPLIER. Meaning it’s meant to hit higher levels. Say if Goku wanted to hit x50 Kaio-Ken, he could- but would still need to master that level as well. Kaio-Ken seems to me to be the technique one can never truly master, but always improve with.
Shit Ultra Instinct is about to blow Moro and every technique out the water. But some of my favorite yet underrated techniques are Solar Flare, Destructo Disk and Gotenks Ghost Kamikaze Attack
I haven't seen that episode in a while, but I'm pretty sure Goku says that he was able to predict Hits movement and that's how he made up the gap, along with the added speed of the kaioken.
There was a double aura in dragon ball z, frieza in his final form had I black and red aura when he fought goku for the very first time way back on namek
7:34-7:36 id argue that's a triple aura. The yellow under-glow from the original super sayin, the blue from the Super saiyan god, and the red from Kaioken.
King Kai I believe stated after Goku lost control of his Ki, that he wasn't just using Kio Ken, he was also forcing himself ahead in time, basically copying Hit, and doing a time skip, or at least implying it
Later Goku has a conversation with king Kai that confirms Goku was sending himself into the future to counter hits time skip. And that is what caused goku's ki to go haywire.
It does make sense in a way. As Goku explains that divine power (sorry, god ki) is power through proper (or in the dub, extreme) control and calm, and also that Kaioken requires a calm mind and focus, and Goku found a way to clash these 2 concepts together, there, when he does go Kaioken in SSB (like during the Tournament of Destroyers), his body and his energy is amplified. Although, going Kaioken in Goku's Super Saiyan forms does elevate the Kaioken risks.
I would really love if only Vegito could enter Blue Kaioken and only Gogeta could use Blue Evolution. I thought that's what Dbs Nroly movie was going for due to how dark Gogeta hair was but I was wrong
plus probably also helped that by having gotten so use to ssj could turn it on with out having to have a surge of anger. Also i always saw and still do, that the fact that the only time normal ssj was used in combo with kioken when he was dead, indicated or heavily implied that kioken + ssj only works if you are dead when using it even if u have a body, do to being more durable and not have to worry about the stamina
There's an interview addressing the lack of Kaioken and SSBE. Apparently they didn't include it, as they didn't want Goku or Vegeta to "break their limits" so soon.
IMO: the blue kaioken is a toei thing, toryama doesn't like it or agree with it and that's why it isn't in the manga. But the v-jump thing is probably toei trying to hide this fact, saying "yeah it was there" when in fact it wasn't. Toryama doesn't talk about this openly because we actually like this concept, I even imagined it on SSJ4 back in GT times.
I mean in the first video for the kaioken technique guide didn't you say at one point goku was using the kaioken against frieza and we just couldn't see it? I mean that could explain the red aura not being there in the full color version maybe.
i feel the ssj blue form is still very calm compared to ssj and other forms, but later what we saw mainly in the goku black/future trunks arc was that it still can benifit from a rage boost or similar strong emotions do to saiyan biology, but likely comes at a risk of stability or control since was the opposite of how they were initially focusing in their training with whis to keep their ki contained in their body and not let it leak out
i think what was happening in the colored version was that kaioken was not manifesting itself visually but it was happening. remember the frieza fight on namek where he was using kaioken x20 but the red aura was not present.
I think kaioken was left out because they tried to stick to saiyan transformations. If they wanted a good fight, they easily could’ve thrown ultra instinct in there as well.
Sweet that TOEI brought back the technique to help supplement Goku's SSJ Blue, in case it's not enough to handle an enemy. Plus I like the double aura.
Geekdom101, I have a question. Did Goku Black die in Fused Zamasu? Back when Goku blasted the kamehameha through the divine wrath purification, "killing Fused Zamasu", but regenerating because of his immortality, but the side Black was on turned purple because he couldn't regenerate.
Super saiyans blue has three grades and people seem to not notice but it's in the manga in the resurrection F arc goku and vegeta are in the initial stage of super saiyan blue and in the U6 tournament arc to black arc (after leaving the time chamber) and survival arc goku and vegeta are in the advanced stage of super saiyan blue and the vegeta reached the mastered stage of blue meaning it's not exclusive to vegeta and goku will learn it eventually just like how he mastered super saiyan while goku was dead, and if goku learns mastered blue kaiouken blue will be even more stable state
So though the otherworld tournament is considered filler if you DID want to consider it canon you can simply say goku was able to use kaioken with super saiyan at that time because he's already dead. Technically it wouldn't wreck him as bad since he's essentially a spirit. Kinda like how he said SSJ3 was easy while dead but chugged energy while he was alive

It would stand to reason that Goku may very well have been using kaio-Ken considering that time when he was using it against Frieza but didn't have the aura around his body. But whether he did or didn't use it is up in the air.
His aura is the same as kaioken in the manga. It's most likely a coloring mistake, whenever vegeta used blue evolution in the manga, sometimes they make him look exactly like ssb. Also remember when trunks had red
As i interpret it, in the manga version Whis and others have explained (or tried to explain) that Goku was powering up beyond 100% of his power. Basically beyond his limit and multiplying his power. Basically it does work like Kaioken but its not a Kaioken at all.
i think the reason kaioken blue does so much damage to goku is that its a foreign power that goku is transforming on his own, then amplifying that transformed foreign power. i think because of the focus thats needed for blue he doesnt notice the damage he takes from it until later when he turns off that laser focus
Seems like the manga is implying that goku is using a technique that is parallel to kaio ken so I don’t see any problem with just calling it kaio ken for the sake of simplicity. If we ever get any new details on the specifics on it or a proper name I see no reason to not call it kaio ken as of now
fun fact due to the principles of completed ssj blue that keep its aura inside or rather to keep it in resered to work on its full efficiency while kaioken is utilized with it it seems that the manga version allows him to master kaioken that the red aura no longer exist which means this is the peak of both kaioken and ssj blue which only makes sense when you think about it where in anime proper utilization of blue and kaiken doesnt exist while in the manga goku knows how to utlize it in proper efficiency so the aura is no longer necessary since this version can utilize it to greater lengths although having goku to combined it with power stressed states to amplify it even further is what shows that the red aura is no longer necessary and it only seves as how unstable kaioken used to be so basically the manga version portrays that this kaioken blue is utilizing if not 100% maybe even beyond with the possibilities are endless as long as the body can keep up with it s this is the stable state of kaioken than the one in anime
During the Buu saga, they made it a pretty big point that Goku's otherworld body is way more resilient than his live body and that's why he couldn't use SSJ3 as well as he expected to. So the handling of blue + kaioken doesn't invalidate the otherworld tournament use of with the regular SSJ it. Instead, it further BACKIT UP, being that if Goku wasn't dead he couldn't have even pulled off even the very limited use of it with SSJ. Using it vs Cell in that context, even for seconds, would have been useless.

6:00 you actually can see that the kaioken is negatively affecting goku during the fight with Hit. Theres a moment where he says he cant hold out much longer. Meaning he is feeling the strain the entire time, he's just pushing through it.
I always found it strange with Kaioken Blue, where his hair had some whitish highlights to contrast his Blue. It seemed really cool to me til they went White with perfected( or mastered) Ultra Instinct.
After Mastered Ultra Instinct, what color is next? Invisible maybe or rainbow colored?
I've always liked the concept of Kaioken Blue as long as Goku used it in spurts which seemed to be the case for each use except it's debut (for obvious reasons) and against Jiren while Goku teamed up with Vegeta.
Really loved Kaioken Blue, it was really exciting to see it that first time and then in the TOP later on!
I really liked seeing Goku burst in and out of SSB-Kaioken when he was fighting Jiren the first time. It was a pretty neat way to demonstrate its use.

The Kaioken is my favorite concept in Dragon Ball. But the execution of the technique I’ve always been mixed on. And Geekdom101 touched on a big reason as to why. In the first fight against Goku and Vegeta, you really felt the strain on Goku as he used the Kaioken. Even going one level above what he was supposed to what having enormous consequences on his body and after his times four, even a little slap from Yajirobe was enough to make Goku scream in pain. It really felt like that if Vegeta landed one good blow Goku would be down for the count. But the idea of mastering it to the extent where it no longer has any effect on your body at all, makes it come off as a transformation. In the Universal Survival Arc in Super, Goku was spamming x20 Kaioken through the whole arc with no consequences whatsoever. It makes the technique feel lame and you wonder why he doesn’t use it all the time. Imagine if in Naruto, Guy just jumped into the battlefield yelling that he’s mastered the eight gates and now he can use the death gate with no problem at all. It takes away everything cool about the jutsu. And that’s how I feel about Kaioken. In the hands of a good writer it can make any fight a lot more tense, but in the hands of people who just wanna see cool shit, all it is is another transformation.

Not necessarily. As he master x20- but only that. Remember: Kaio-Ken is a MULTIPLIER. Meaning it’s meant to hit higher levels. Say if Goku wanted to hit x50 Kaio-Ken, he could- but would still need to master that level as well. Kaio-Ken seems to me to be the technique one can never truly master, but always improve with.

I haven't seen that episode in a while, but I'm pretty sure Goku says that he was able to predict Hits movement and that's how he made up the gap, along with the added speed of the kaioken.
I really enjoyed this trilogy. I learned alot. I really didnt think much of the kaioken before this. Turns out it was much deeper than i realized.
There was a double aura in dragon ball z, frieza in his final form had I black and red aura when he fought goku for the very first time way back on namek

7:34-7:36 id argue that's a triple aura. The yellow under-glow from the original super sayin, the blue from the Super saiyan god, and the red from Kaioken.
King Kai I believe stated after Goku lost control of his Ki, that he wasn't just using Kio Ken, he was also forcing himself ahead in time, basically copying Hit, and doing a time skip, or at least implying it

Later Goku has a conversation with king Kai that confirms Goku was sending himself into the future to counter hits time skip. And that is what caused goku's ki to go haywire.
It does make sense in a way. As Goku explains that divine power (sorry, god ki) is power through proper (or in the dub, extreme) control and calm, and also that Kaioken requires a calm mind and focus, and Goku found a way to clash these 2 concepts together, there, when he does go Kaioken in SSB (like during the Tournament of Destroyers), his body and his energy is amplified. Although, going Kaioken in Goku's Super Saiyan forms does elevate the Kaioken risks.

plus probably also helped that by having gotten so use to ssj could turn it on with out having to have a surge of anger. Also i always saw and still do, that the fact that the only time normal ssj was used in combo with kioken when he was dead, indicated or heavily implied that kioken + ssj only works if you are dead when using it even if u have a body, do to being more durable and not have to worry about the stamina

There's an interview addressing the lack of Kaioken and SSBE. Apparently they didn't include it, as they didn't want Goku or Vegeta to "break their limits" so soon.
IMO: the blue kaioken is a toei thing, toryama doesn't like it or agree with it and that's why it isn't in the manga. But the v-jump thing is probably toei trying to hide this fact, saying "yeah it was there" when in fact it wasn't. Toryama doesn't talk about this openly because we actually like this concept, I even imagined it on SSJ4 back in GT times.
I mean in the first video for the kaioken technique guide didn't you say at one point goku was using the kaioken against frieza and we just couldn't see it? I mean that could explain the red aura not being there in the full color version maybe.
i feel the ssj blue form is still very calm compared to ssj and other forms, but later what we saw mainly in the goku black/future trunks arc was that it still can benifit from a rage boost or similar strong emotions do to saiyan biology, but likely comes at a risk of stability or control since was the opposite of how they were initially focusing in their training with whis to keep their ki contained in their body and not let it leak out
i think what was happening in the colored version was that kaioken was not manifesting itself visually but it was happening. remember the frieza fight on namek where he was using kaioken x20 but the red aura was not present.

I think kaioken was left out because they tried to stick to saiyan transformations. If they wanted a good fight, they easily could’ve thrown ultra instinct in there as well.

Geekdom101, I have a question. Did Goku Black die in Fused Zamasu? Back when Goku blasted the kamehameha through the divine wrath purification, "killing Fused Zamasu", but regenerating because of his immortality, but the side Black was on turned purple because he couldn't regenerate.
Super saiyans blue has three grades and people seem to not notice but it's in the manga in the resurrection F arc goku and vegeta are in the initial stage of super saiyan blue and in the U6 tournament arc to black arc (after leaving the time chamber) and survival arc goku and vegeta are in the advanced stage of super saiyan blue and the vegeta reached the mastered stage of blue meaning it's not exclusive to vegeta and goku will learn it eventually just like how he mastered super saiyan while goku was dead, and if goku learns mastered blue kaiouken blue will be even more stable state
So though the otherworld tournament is considered filler if you DID want to consider it canon you can simply say goku was able to use kaioken with super saiyan at that time because he's already dead. Technically it wouldn't wreck him as bad since he's essentially a spirit. Kinda like how he said SSJ3 was easy while dead but chugged energy while he was alive

It would stand to reason that Goku may very well have been using kaio-Ken considering that time when he was using it against Frieza but didn't have the aura around his body. But whether he did or didn't use it is up in the air.
I wish the aura of Super Saiyan Blue plus Kaioken would make purple aura, since blue and red mixed makes purple.
His aura is the same as kaioken in the manga. It's most likely a coloring mistake, whenever vegeta used blue evolution in the manga, sometimes they make him look exactly like ssb. Also remember when trunks had red
As i interpret it, in the manga version Whis and others have explained (or tried to explain) that Goku was powering up beyond 100% of his power. Basically beyond his limit and multiplying his power. Basically it does work like Kaioken but its not a Kaioken at all.
i think the reason kaioken blue does so much damage to goku is that its a foreign power that goku is transforming on his own, then amplifying that transformed foreign power. i think because of the focus thats needed for blue he doesnt notice the damage he takes from it until later when he turns off that laser focus
Seems like the manga is implying that goku is using a technique that is parallel to kaio ken so I don’t see any problem with just calling it kaio ken for the sake of simplicity. If we ever get any new details on the specifics on it or a proper name I see no reason to not call it kaio ken as of now

fun fact due to the principles of completed ssj blue that keep its aura inside or rather to keep it in resered to work on its full efficiency while kaioken is utilized with it it seems that the manga version allows him to master kaioken that the red aura no longer exist which means this is the peak of both kaioken and ssj blue which only makes sense when you think about it where in anime proper utilization of blue and kaiken doesnt exist while in the manga goku knows how to utlize it in proper efficiency so the aura is no longer necessary since this version can utilize it to greater lengths although having goku to combined it with power stressed states to amplify it even further is what shows that the red aura is no longer necessary and it only seves as how unstable kaioken used to be so basically the manga version portrays that this kaioken blue is utilizing if not 100% maybe even beyond with the possibilities are endless as long as the body can keep up with it s this is the stable state of kaioken than the one in anime

During the Buu saga, they made it a pretty big point that Goku's otherworld body is way more resilient than his live body and that's why he couldn't use SSJ3 as well as he expected to.
So the handling of blue + kaioken doesn't invalidate the otherworld tournament use of with the regular SSJ it. Instead, it further BACKIT UP, being that if Goku wasn't dead he couldn't have even pulled off even the very limited use of it with SSJ. Using it vs Cell in that context, even for seconds, would have been useless.
Eventually we'll probably see mastered ultra instinct combined with kaioken x20. That would be super dope.
what i think about the timeskip is that hit underestimated goku's speed because of the kaioken buff and got hit for it
