I had just about given up on my X3 Live pedal board before finally seeing this video. Now I actually have a much better understanding on navigating through those god awful menus! You are without a doubt an excellent guitar player, really enjoyed your original demo at the end too. Thanks very much for posting this!
Glenn, I too must say thanks. Line 6 puts these pedals and amps out there without very good tutorials. I was about to lose my hair just trying to setup a patch(preset). You helped me so much! Thanks!
Hello Glenn DeLaune, very nice settings that are from now on set up in my POD x3 Live. As a french bass and guitar player, I apreciate very much your help to get some nice attractive sounds. Other settings are welcome in case.... Sakutations
Please keep' em coming. These are the best tutorials. I used the Vai and Hendrix in Church last week. I'm trying these four with tomorrow's sets. In Him, MOHolly
Wow, I wanted to get an XT Live before, but now that I hear your videos I'm really impressed with the X3. Thanks for this, keep up the good work, you're an amazing guitarrist and great song writer.
@extremevideopro hey Glen, would this be better than a GT-10 for composing ur own tone and really fiddling with the distortion setting? ....and does this have FX like chorus, flanger, harmonizer and all that, like the BOSS GT-10?
wow Glen, I really dig the patches on this demo, its just really groovy smooth. The backing tracks are righteous! The more I listen to your work with the X3, the more I'm likely to buy one!
I have new modelers (helix, etc.) but pulled out my old x3 for fun yesterday. Was surprised by how great it sounded. Thought I’d watch some old vids about it. That solo tone was great stuff.
I just recived the POD X3 live to day from the USA Im soo exited I cant think strait your vidio is a great help in setting the unit up, and getting a good sound I do hope it sounds like yours. thanks. ozzcarandme
Great demostration.¡¡¡¡¡;.... thanks a lot nice work... Glenn!!..what do you recommend for a fender strat mexican guitar with alnico single coin pickups??...you know this sound is very different to humbucker that you use to in this video
thank you!!! I have adjusted your sound and I play the pleasure! Thanks you for that that in detail explain also all show! It very much helps me as I only I do not understand this processor it my the first) I am glad that there are still people ready to help another gratuitously!:) continue in the same spirit!!!! I apologise for the bad English! My native language Russian
Man I wish I could let you have it but that is going to be on an upcoming album that I am working on so I can't release the backing track. Thanks for watching.
Found your videos today. Metallica demo was the first. Your playing is amazing. Curious about the settings on your crate amp. I use a Line 6 Spider III 15, setting controls to mid-level with exception of gain, which is turned down low, and channel volume just under mid-level. No effects on. I was surprised that you use the on-board interface for patches instead of Gearbox. I got my Pod X3 live last week and have only used Gearbox so far. Any advantage to the on-board interface? Thanks.
hey, great videos btw, but i have a very important question: what are your settings on the amp itself? i have the same exact amp (crate rfx-30) and when i route my line6 into it, it sounds like crap. what are your volume and eq settings to get a good tone?
hi, i never saw anyone play with a thumb pic?? what u using? i played guitar years but lost finger then sewn back on so i find it hard to use a pic,,,,i tried everything and have been reduced to using no pic at all...if i had one that was attached to finger perm "slipped on" wud help, can u advise on what i need?
Thanks for the hint. I read that the Morpheus Droptune has not the best soundquality in lower tuning (more than 2 steps), but the musical stuff I´m doing combines my normal dropped c tuning and for heavy rythm parts dropped b, so my idea is to use the morpheus to tune down my dropped c guitar. I hope this works better. Have you ever tried this?
hey glenn playing thru a tube amp which pedal sounds better boss gt 10 or pod x3 live? im trying to decide which one i wanna get. great playing by the way!! you rock bro
Hi. I´m thinking about getting me the x3 live but I´m not quite sure. Very important for me would be to have rectiefied distortion sounds (in the sound range of 36 Crazyfists, Rammstein, Isis for example). Can you achieve these kind of sounds with the x3? Is it possible to put the Morpheus Droptune between guitar and x3? Is it possible to put other than line6plug in sounds to the pod? Would be very thankfull for infos! best wishes from Germany
Really good job! Maybe you can give me a hint. I'm trying desperately to get the get Ritchie Blackmores Marshall Major post '74 tone with the X3 - Any suggestions??
i have an extremely important question. Is tone 2 always the same whereever you switch? example: if i have it on 20A and go to 25A... is tone 2 supposed to be the same?
heh i've gotta tell you your vids are the best thing i can find in youtube.. am looking forward for more.. i think line6 guyz shud thank you personally for doing all these.. can u show us how do u use gearbox too..??
In general, how to you modify a patch designed to go direct to work with an amp, and vice versa? Is it a matter of switching cab/modeling...different compression...maybe slightly differen eq'ing?
Hi Greg. Do you still use this UA-cam Channel ? Your video about tweaking the Line 6 POD X3 really helped me. But I have a couple of questions I'm hoping you can answer for me. 🎸
hello again man... i copied this patches and they sounded really good at like normal volume levels.. but when i used them with my band (like really loud) i started having problems with really annoying high freqs and a lot of feedback... has this happened to you?.. there's a video that explains how to fix it (cutting freqs in the eq nad turning amp simulation off) but i don't like the way it sounds when i do that... what would you suggest? anyways thanks again for your videos
would you reccomend this? or the line 6 m13?? Maybe formaking lots of effects, and U2 type music... i cant chose between the two. dnt know which to get
Well they are different animals actually. The M13 has no amp modeling so if you have a good amp that you are happy with and all you need is FX then the M13 would be great. The HD units have all of the amp modeling so they really are designed for direct recording not using a traditional amplifier.
hi. liked you video very much. but i've got a question for you. саn i use my distortion pedal with this processor? i mean, can i turn off the dist in this processor and use my pedal instead? thanx
I really like the way that you have a decent play with a backing track at the end of your videos, it helps to hear the sounds in context. Would it be possible for you to make some videos showing the very basics of programming guitar sounds. With the complex gear you're using (e.g. pod x3), I get a bit confused about all the parameters you're setting, and from a selfish point of view would like to understand more.
hey glenn is that a real song or just a backing track you had done because I cant get it out of my head and been playing it on the guitar like crazy.lol
Im thinking about adding this to my rig, I use a fender hotrod deluxe and a usa fender 52 RI tele, looking for Brad Paisley tone, was wanting to know if this pedal will give me a that boutique amp sound. I was considering saving up and buying a Mesa Boogie, but this is a cheaper route, please let me know soon... any help would be appreciated thanks!
What is that amp in the background ?? CRATE ?? I am looking at a Marshall AVT 275 but also have a Crate VTX 200s in my eyes. Both have STEREO returns, so could I just run my stereo MFX into the Stereo Return to basically just take my MFX sound and amplify it ?
hey glenn whe nu use the pod with an amp, you put the amp on clean channel, but do u then turn down all the knobs down to 0 on the amp like bass middle and treible and all that? exept volume ofc.
Hi Glen, thanks for this demo. I was thinking of buying one of these (second hand). Is there a way of creating these patches on a computer, rather than going through the menus on the actual device?
Hi there...firstly, well done on producing such high quality videos on the x3 live. I've been using a Digitech GNX4 for the past few years, but I've never really been that satisfied with it. How do you rate the X3 live compared to the GNX4? Have you ever tried a TC Electronic Nova System? If so I'd love to hear how you compare that to a X3 live. Cheers, David
Does using the chorus on the lead give it more "air" so to speak? I've tried incorporating chorus into my lead sound with my other stomp boxes before i got my podx3 and it sounded really muddy
Hi Glenn. Congratulations for your videos, The best on you tube. A question: "what amp do you suggest to blend with line6 modern high gain? I like modern Van Halen, Satriani tones. I´m recording the 3rd album of my band SANTAREM." Thank You very much! Alex (from Brazil)
Glenn, your videos are very inspiring. You are a good teacher and a great guitar player. In this video you are playing through a cabinet. What changes, if any would you recommend for going directly in to a DAW interface.
hey man... i'd like to know something about this pedal... well it's just that i have a marshall amp (valvestate) and i really like it's distortion, but sometimes i'd like to have some heavy ass gain too lol.. well the question is if i can hav certain banks or channels or whatever with this pedal in wich you can use you amp's gain and pedal effects in the amp's loop... aand at the same time have other banks with the pedal's distortions and stuff... i'm depending on your answer to buy this pedal
Wonderful vids! Same question for me, X3 Live seems cool but the display looks very small, thus being hard to read when the unit's on the floor and you're standing. What are your thoughts on that?
i thought the sound was a little bit too closed on the overdrive patch c...kinda missing something...i think more mediums and highs... i guess! very nice though!!!!
Great video! What I would love to know is how to "successfully" attach and operate my Digitech Jamman Loop station to the Pod X3 Live, plugging into the send and return on the pod...so far, I get hissing and difficult to make it work right..close but still not happy with it...
hey by the way i have 1 more problem, when i save my tone 2 all other tone 2 presets become that. for example, i save tone 2 as satriani and all the other presets tone 2 are also satriani.
I had just about given up on my X3 Live pedal board before finally seeing this video. Now I actually have a much better understanding on navigating through those god awful menus! Awesome tutorial and thank you for the licks in the end of the video it showed how nice the pedal sounds
@extremevideopro you are so awesome.... i have had this problem since 2 months ago and never knew until you answered my question! THANK YOU
Fantastic tutorial videos.. Absolutely changed my tone for the good. So grateful!!
Would this be better than a BOSS GT-10?
thnxx man!!!
yesterday i bought the x3 live, and thanks to you i can make a good clean and lead tone!
Awesome, great content & great playing. Thanks heaps! 😊
Great demo, playing and tutorial as always. You should a youtube award or something! Can't thank you enough!
Great tutorial and all but even more so, Great piece of music!
thanks a million! The X3 is on order
I just recived the POD X3 live to day from the USA Im soo exited I cant think strait
your vidio is a great help in setting the unit up, and getting a good sound I do hope it sounds like yours.

Thanks so much for these demos. I put all your presets into my new x3 live.
Im playingwith my Gibson les paul and Vox amp, thees settings worked perfect for me! Thanks alot man! Keep it up with more videoes of X3 sounds! :)
Thanks and you too cheerful Christmas!
Wow! That's a PRS Custom 24! Great job with your videos!
The X3-Live is not really that easy to tweak in a live setting on the fly like you would a normal stomp pedal.
Wow, thank you sooo much, really big help on getting me to understand this, and great sound! Lots of talent, love how you play!
Great demostration.¡¡¡¡¡;.... thanks a lot nice work... Glenn!!..what do you recommend for a fender strat mexican guitar with alnico single coin pickups??...you know this sound is very different to humbucker that you use to in this video
Nice Job, great video, Line 6 should hire right now!!!
Very nice I like the fact that you us a thumb pick.
Man you make it look so easy.
Thank you. This is extremely helpful!! Now I can just tweak these patches to taste. Thanks again!
great info to have......thanks a million!
@extremevideopro dude you are great . thanks for everything.
I'm using a little Crate amp. You can see it in Part 1. This video is Part 2. The pickups are PRS Zebra Bobin #16's.
i am use Ibanez Rg 470 japan with V8 Pickup..give me a setting like this please...
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, very well done.
best X3 vids on youtube
love my X3!

Thank you Glen , U are a super hero .. !
Man I wish I could let you have it but that is going to be on an upcoming album that I am working on so I can't release the backing track. Thanks for watching.
Pretty good... i like the lead tone,
AWESOME DEMO! THANKS!
what kind of amp do you have??
@Tylermartin7771 you can't change the color, only the contrast. Look in the system settings.
you really did this well...!!!
respect!!..
I will buy this multi-effect board, too!!
Yes I do sometimes. It depends on what gig I am doing. I play with about 4 different bands right now.

I saw your video of Stevie Ray Vaughn's Pride & Joy. Do you have the instructional video to show the setup for that sound?
I like your patches a lot, but I have a question: Would you consider taking patch requests?

Mega tone!
For really fluid high-gain leads should I get the X3 or HD? Thx
for me, the x3 its so much better (i got x3 live and hd400, the high gain on hd its shit, x3 so much better)

this sounds awsome, but what about recording? does the pod x3-live has usb connection and recording software? like ableton live? or smth

Glenn ,i have watched alot of your videos ,what pod do you think is the best one you have used from the pod x3 live through to the pod hd 500 ?
Does it require an amp, or can you plug in some headphones?
Also, does it record with a USB plugged into the comp? or interface
@TheASBObrown Try turning up the trim knob on the back of the unit.
i have an extremely important question. Is tone 2 always the same whereever you switch? example: if i have it on 20A and go to 25A... is tone 2 supposed to be the same?

Hey. Do you have any tips for me when i want to create a lead patch that's more dreamy? I don't want it to be so much in your face, but a bit distant?
Wow bro! Awesome tone! I'm just wondering are harmonizers and whammy included in this unit? Thanks and hope to see more demos from you! :D
Cheers Glen. Just what i needed to get ready for Sunday's early church seshon. ;)

yes, try to download "line 6 gearbox" either on line 6.com or search the web. its better than menus and you can save your tones

i have to follow this settings.. this pod x3 is old but still dope

hey is the amp ur playing thru a Solid state or tube? thx ur vid's are kickass

i have a very noob question can i hook a amp to the pod x3 desktop model and use a fbv pedal as a switchboard to the amp?

thats awsome man
can you get two guitars at same time through one POD(X3 Live) if you can...how do you do it? Thanks.
@extremevideopro For the money they (line 6) should at least put a sturdy knobs. Which sounds better overall this or GT10?
