I've been through so many reviews of this FX unit. This review was thorough and answered all the questions I needed to find out. Great review! Thanks a lot!
Hey Robert, thanks for this demo on the Line 6 Pod HD300. I recently purchased a used Line 6 HD300. You video is giving me a great start on learning how to use this unit.
I just got my hands on the HD300. It's a beast of a machine and I wanted to learn how to exploit its full potential. This video helped a lot. Thanks a ton. Great work! :)
It does to a degree. It's not the same feeling as with a great tube amp, but it still reacts to dynamic playing in a similar way. But nothing digital is like an old 100 watt Marshall or a Fender Twin cranked when it comes to dynamics... You can never have the cake and eat it too...but this unit is great fun for what it is.
@TheBakor Press at the top of the pedal to engange the toe switch - you may have press very hard! My HD500 toeswitch was difficult to engage at first - I had to put a lot of weight on it before it started working.
@henrikhansson1 Ahh, sorry about that. I ran the mic into my video camera (first time I've tried this) and I must have had the signal a bit too hot. Dang. I hope the video is useful anyway, in spite of this.
Very good review. A balance between playing the sounds and showing the functions of the unit. I got one SH but like new on ebay for £90 and very pleaed with it. Good work Robert thanks you
I bought this unit and I have 2 main issues so far.Hexagon markings on the plate metal xase(i can see yours has too) and the mode button is not engaging fully.Everything works though,i will return it to the music store and get a new one.Aside from that, hd300 is very good although some things are very tricky and you can mess up the presets and your sound pretty easily if you dont know what you are doing.I reccomend it though.
I had the HD300 and I was very pleased with the processor! It has excellent sound but with amplifier it sounded really bad because there is no option to turn off the amp or cabinet, so I really do not know how you you imagine that the processor can be connected to an amplifier unless the fx loop? HD400 and 500 have the option to turn off the amp and cabinet and I think they should sound a lot better than the HD300! Your review is excellent and I wish you good luck in your future work!
@rotren that doesnt make sense, if i can connect headphones and play only through the pod hd why cant i instead of headphones connect to speakers (cab)?
Thanks Robert. Ok came up with one last question... Is it possible to assign the expression pedal to control the reverb? I saw that the HD300 has the Octo verb but it would be something I'd like to bring in and out of my signal. Thanks again man.
Hi i have a problem with my Line 6 HD300, when i press the MODE and the button FX1 it gives me the option save. So I'm not able to access the looper or the effect on Fx1. I tried the factory reset option, but it didn't help. Is there another way to have all the settings reset ? Btw. Very good tutorial and thanks for your time !
Hi everyone! I just got a Pod HD300 and i use it to record, but I'd like to use it as an effect pedalboard in the effects loop of my Blackstar HT5 head. I tried several connection methods but most of them make me lose a lot of sound... May you please tell me what i should exactly plug to what? Thanks :)
Need help guys.. I would like to ask what's the closest amp mode setting to use in order to obtain a VAN HALEN sound... Hope somebody will help me. thanks !
Hey man! Great video, very informative. I'm about to buy this in used condition but there isn't an adapter with it. Can you help me out and show me the adapter somehow? I'd be thankful. Thank you
Thanks a lot for this review man !!. One question, your samples has very very good quality, How do you record this samples?. Direct to Usb pc?, Direct to amp and use a mic in front amp? Thanks !
Robert I'm pretty confused about the effects. I noticed that you had a "plate" reverb setting on one patch and then towards the end of the video you had "tile". Do the various reverb (and overall effect choices) only coincide with the specific amp model you're using or are these choices available for each model? I.e. on the FX1 drive setting. Is a "screamer" the only onboard drive effect available? If not, how do you go about changing the drives? Thanks man.
Hello Sir, I am planning on buying this effects processor, and I had few queries of my own. I play metal guitar, as I have a Schecter Damien with EMG pickups, and I was wondering whether this effects processor is good enough for metal distortion and metal playing? And also if it has a manual wah wah effect which i can control through the expresion pedal or not? Thank you.
Can anyone tell me how this would sound through a randall Rg75. I'm looking for extremely good metal distortion, good reverb and good cleans from this pedal, I'm using a ESP Snakebyte btw.
Robert can u answer a question for me? I have a dt25 amp and cab with the hd300. The issue is the hd300 after a lot of tweaking I can get some good sounds out of it. But everytime I unplug and plug back in the next time I use it I get volume spikes and have to resep every single preset. Is this something that comes along with processors. I remember my pandpra doing this. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Great review, I'm thinking about getting the hd 400, which is a little more flexible but pretty much the same. Can I ask you something though? I've read you can have up to 4 effects at a time, if I have reverb and noise gate on, does that leave me with only two more effects that I can use? or those don't count as effects? Thanks ;)
I have 2 questions: 1) Do you know of a good acoustic modeling tone for the Pod HD300? 2) What do you think of combining the Pod HD 300 and JM4 looper for live gigs?
hey there, i've been a follower and a subscriber since 2005 man.. i think it was your debut on youtube with the demos and whatnot, and if i recall right you'd just moved to canada back then.. :) anyways, thx for existing still ! just a little question if you dont mind, does that mutli really well to dynamic pickin responses as a real tube amp would do... maybe there's a difference if used within a direct input and with a tube amp ??
it sounds brilliant for clean and blues.. not sure about the meatier driven sounds though.. will have to try one vs a new zoom G5.. and decide which to buy...i want clean, blues and meaty rock.. if i can achive a good tone for each category then i'm happy... nice video btw
HD models 300 to 500x differs in features only or also in sound quality? I don't need 100 effects or dual tone processing, I simply want to connect to PC and record a good quality lead tone, will 500x have a richer sound than 300?
I've been through so many reviews of this FX unit. This review was thorough and answered all the questions I needed to find out. Great review! Thanks a lot!
Thanks Robert, I just got my own HD300 and learned a lot in 20 minutes from you and I love your playing style , keep rockin' bro !!!
Hey Robert, thanks for this demo on the Line 6 Pod HD300. I recently purchased a used Line 6 HD300. You video is giving me a great start on learning how to use this unit.
I've owned this Line 6 for a few years now. This is my "go to" video.. Best tutorial I've found, for this pedal . 👍
Wow, thanks!
I just got my hands on the HD300. It's a beast of a machine and I wanted to learn how to exploit its full potential. This video helped a lot. Thanks a ton. Great work! :)
I really liked the metal channels from this demo. Really shows the diversity of this pedal.
Extremely impressed with the line 6 HD300. I've used it to record a bunch of tracks using the factory presets...bloody great!
@quaxBK You can switch between Line and Amp mode, and you can turn off the power amp simulation too, so it acts like a preamp. Very nice!
Great review! I picked up a HD300 and had no idea where to start. This helped alot! I loved the auto-volume at 8:30 - 8:45!
Thank you, glad you liked this hd300 demo.
@TheBakor Press at the top of the pedal to engange the toe switch - you may have press very hard! My HD500 toeswitch was difficult to engage at first - I had to put a lot of weight on it before it started working.
I used a Shure SM57 for miking my cabinet, but most often I go straight into the computer via USB because of the flexibility this provides.
@Skcharynd No, you need to go through a power amp, PA, guitar amp or computer.
It's an awesome FX unit. Loads of fun to play with the looper too.
Running it through a Marshall the FX only button has been really useful.
@henrikhansson1 Ahh, sorry about that. I ran the mic into my video camera (first time I've tried this) and I must have had the signal a bit too hot. Dang. I hope the video is useful anyway, in spite of this.
exactly what i was looking for! hd300 plugged straight into a tube amp. this vid is very helpful thanks a lot!
Thanks dude...really appreciated !
You're welcome!
@ozzcar1 I haven't tried the ME-70 so I don't know.
@nunofrg The unit need power to drive a speaker cab - headphones is a completely different story.
Awesome playing!!!
Thank you
Great demo, finally someone that actually show how the pedal works and what can do, thank you it helped ;)
i bet jimi would love to had this! Great video!
Thanks, good to hear!
@littleloverboy No noise problem for me.
@Dragonforce6709 No batteries - it comes with a power cable.
really great review, man! thanks!
Glad you like it!
I have a request can you show a short clip on how to use the wah pedal? I cant find any video on POD HD wah pedals.
Thanks!!
Hi sir thank you for a great video helpful time to jam

Robert my HD 400 has an issue...i just don't get any output sound..donno why? can you help pal?
Very detailed demo. Thank you!
I use a Shure SM57 for miking my cabinet.
Very good review. A balance between playing the sounds and showing the functions of the unit. I got one SH but like new on ebay for £90 and very pleaed with it. Good work Robert thanks you
Steve Pratt Thanks!
This is an awesom video, it explains so much! YOU just convinced me to buy this! Thanks so much!

Dear friend, it is very simple, on back panel near the Unbalanced output p10, just select the switch for *Amp*
@rotren that doesnt make sense, if i can connect headphones and play only through the pod hd why cant i instead of headphones connect to speakers (cab)?
Thanks Robert.

There's another deep settings by pressing the Preset Knob .. Don't look like a switch .. But it is...

@SonOfASubmariner27 Type in "line 6 custom tone hd300" in Google and you will find a bunch of user-made presets.
Need help guys.. I would like to ask what's the closest amp mode setting to use in order to obtain a VAN HALEN sound... Hope somebody will help me. thanks !
alright thx for shedding some light..
Is it possible to play it throught the cabinet without amp?
Hey man! Great video, very informative. I'm about to buy this in used condition but there isn't an adapter with it. Can you help me out and show me the adapter somehow? I'd be thankful. Thank you
Great job!! simple and very useful,
Thanks a lot! I'm getting this for sure!
Thanks so much for the demo, for you know what is the tone for final countdown on HD300?
Thanks a lot for this review man !!. One question, your samples has very very good quality, How do you record this samples?. Direct to Usb pc?, Direct to amp and use a mic in front amp?
Thanks !
Does this pedal have pitch shifter... I want to change the tuning to Drop C while having the guitar physically tuned to Drop D..?
Yes.
hello. I am using pod HD 300 and godin redline hb guitar. will anyone suggest which amp should I use? I love metal and rock music. TIA
See this video /watch?vtHP24VCbleY about 2:19 into the video. Each fx knob has several effects available to choose from.
How do you tweak the EQ settings for Pod HD300?
Not sure what you mean. I just tweak the knobs until it sounds good.
@@Dolphinstreets just like equalizer stomp box
Can I use all the efects whit the pedal? I mean , like an expression pedal.
Robert I'm pretty confused about the effects.

how to save a new patch into a new user i mean new number without save into existing patch . ( sorry for my broken english ) help me please
Digitech rp500, boss me 80, zoom g3x, Line 6 HD 300 (maybe 400?) ?
I have always had trouble with multiprocessing units like this. The digital effects never satisfy me like an analog pedal would.
Can anyone tell me how this would sound through a randall Rg75. I'm looking for extremely good metal distortion, good reverb and good cleans from this pedal, I'm using a ESP Snakebyte btw.
Thanks a lot sir for review.
the delay can still making sound? i mean can sound indefinitely amount of time?
when i use the loop, after i loop one sound i cant loop something ontop, it only gives me one second to play it, how can i correct this?
Looney Funk Contact Line 6.

You did a great job but you should have plugged it into the effects return of the Marshall to bypass the Marshall preamp.
Is this better than the boss me-70? great demo btw! Bought the me-70 because there are no good demos of the hd300... haha
Great review, I'm thinking about getting the hd 400, which is a little more flexible but pretty much the same. Can I ask you something though? @freakstupid11 Just features.
Thank! This helped out so much!
Faustas Udrenas Glad you liked it.
I have 2 questions:
1) Do you know of a good acoustic modeling tone for the Pod HD300?
2) What do you think of combining the Pod HD 300 and JM4 looper for live gigs?
It can be used with an amp. Especially the line 6 dt25 or dt50.
how do you switch from volume to wah on this pedle
Wich is better for use on stage: Pod x3 live or HD?
does the tap tempo switch work for all modulation effect?
Robert Renman line6 hd300 line 6 m9 which one of the two is better?
I hope to buy two thinks to have enought money and next month I will buy HD300 :-))
Thanks Rotren !!

Boa tarde, sabe me dizer se tem o efeito PIT GLIDE ou WHAMMY na pod HD300?
Can you turn off the Box-Simulation?

very good review...thx a lot
HD models 300 to 500x differs in features only or also in sound quality? I don't need 100 effects or dual tone processing, I simply want to connect to PC and record a good quality lead tone, will 500x have a richer sound than 300?
No, the models they share will sound the same. No difference in quality.
Hi , plz help me !
HD 300 vs. Pod XT Live
which one is better?
Mohammad Reza Bovard I don't know - that's a hard question! The sounds are good in both.
wth the main channel high gain crunch and metal you didn't show.. i was not expecting that..
@u86y Yes.
your great review man
How can you switch the wah on this unit? (Without a USB)

where does the ground come from?
Gut erklärt- Thanks!
Hey! How can you switch on the Wah on this?
It has about 7 or 8 flangers. TONS of any efx you want besides.
hey robert, good job as usual :)
my question: will there be a demo for the fender mustang floor?
thx & greetings
How exactly did you record? I just want to know, if I try to record too it would sound like this or i would have to add something
Someone can tell me what means Looper?
This too me looks like the spiderIV series amps but in a multi effects floor processor. I have the 30 and 150 combos.
