Dave tunes a pair of championship crushing Yamaha R1's, the 2009 and 2012 models. Rookie Ben Spies razed World Superbike wielding the '09 model, taking 11 of 14 Superpoles and winning Half the races. Josh Hayes laid AMA Superbike to waste aboard the '12 model, winning a record16 of 20 races (next is Mladin with 11 in '05).

I don't work for free - do you? I survive on the subscriptions to my website and provide a massive amount of free information in many online programs, so if you want free full length videos go that specific playlist.

Seriously this paid content is nonsense.
Love the channel but your have gone about this all wrong. I've not watched a Dave Moss video because of this in easily 3 Months.

Thank you for your comment. Please provide a little more information as to why you feel trying to recoup some revenue to offset a significant financial outlay for these videos being made is inappropriate?

Far from inappropriate - I understand the cost of production needs to be offset and quite often the biggest cost is the time required for production but the transition period between fully free content to majority paid content was too fast and hasn't left enough free, new content behind.
The Motor Trend channel went from fully free pumping out content to a split: New regular content is paid about 50% the time, it then gets made free after something like 60 days.
They lean quite heavily on sponsors for branded plugs. Dave is like the bike whisperer - any brand bike, tool, oil aftermarket, or accessory related would jump to pay for video production that in some way they get a mention.
Let the brand's pay for your content and channel growth- not the followers.
Thank you for writing back however! Despite my large monologue : I re-watch old videos because they're that enjoyable and love the content!

Dave Williams, the videographer replying here. That's been our goal as well, 50/50. We're posting one video a week since the end of the riding season, alternating between rentals and freebees. The rental content focuses on Dave revealing the principles behind suspension tuning to the every-day rider, heretofore secret and restricted info for a privileged few. No other suspension engineer on the planet does this. Thus it's premium content status. Suspension tuning is the magic pixie dust to going fast, even for the average rider, which will become readily apparent when we post Suspension Myth #3, a freebee, in a few weeks (next week we're posting Myth #2, a freebee).

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply in great detail with your own perspective. That is very helpful. This is a 12 month project to see if people want much longer videos with more in depth content and so far, it seems that the response is positive. It isn't making a big dent in production costs at all, but it is yielding some good information. Thanks for the background on Motor Trend. I will do a little homework on their business model.

One of my major gripes is the fact that I can't even watch the pay-to-watch videos, since it's not supported in my country. I don't think a lot of people would go through the hassle to set up a VPN-connection to be able to watch your content =(.
