$4m For A Horse? | The Most Expensive Horse Of 2019 | Aussie Pride Sold At Keeneland Yearling Sale

- The Keeneland September Yearling Sale in Kentucky is one of the biggest thoroughbred horse racing auctions in the world.
Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin purchased a colt by Curlin (winner of the Preakness Stakes, Breeders' Cup Classic and Dubai World Cup) out of New Zealand champion sprinter Bounding for $4.1M USD (HIP 274).
The colt became the most expensive yearling sold at public auction anywhere in the world in 2019.
They also acquired a grey colt by Tapit (HIP 75), who is a half-brother to Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist (Breeders' Cup Juvenile) for $2.5M USD.

Tom T. Temperament doesn't drive price, pedigree and potential earnings do that. And they don't "give" those horses anything, that's how Thoroughbreds are, especially youngsters.

Not even remotely close to the most expensive "racehorse" in the world, or even at Keeneland in 2019. The most expensive yearling at Keeneland in 2019 was a daughter of Lesley's Lady, also dam of 4 time champion Beholder and leading sire Into Mischief. She brought $8.2 million.

This is not the most expensive horse in the world. You a not well informed. There are dozens of previous sellers for much higher amounts. I would not include this one in the top 20 with ease. Do some research before making such claims.

Secretariat wasn't sold for $6.08 million, he was syndicated by a group of 30 or more investors who each owned a share of him. It's being picky I know. I regard as "sale" as one owner buying a horse. Very old fashioned I know.
He WAS sold, just to a group of people so no one really took a big risk.
Yes Big Red was Syndicated for 6 million and no horse today or in our lifetimes will be able to do what he did . He was the greatest racehorse that ever lived !

Those handlers are highly qualified horsemen. You try holding several million dollars worth of horse so that they remain calm and safe, and are shown to their best advantage for prospective buyers. Not an easy job.
