People equate white and black with social class. It’s mainly social programming
In other countries, being “American” is associated with being wealthy, powerful and status
It takes a lot of courage and boldness to deviate from the norm

I saw some American men there with a gangster like attitude getting disliked over there, but the Americans with normal behavior are the majority off course.
So I think you have to be careful with what you say about travelers because rotten apples can come from everywhere. some men are idiots, I agree. But the women there in the DR like and admire us also a lot.

She said the white guy was from a European country, left her with the kids, now she crying and begging us for money, showing us photos of the kids and feeling sorry for herself. I felt no pity! She learned the hard way. But I see most dominican chicas show white images or emojis on their Whatsapp profile or page. I ask them, what's up with the white folks images? They often respond, that she's not a racist. I respond, but you're racist against yourself. You don't show images of yourself. Sounds racist to me. That leads into DR being racist against Haitians, and they need to be departed. I come back, then maybe USA should depart illegal Dominicans that migrate into Puerto Rico, into New York. That normally shuts them down.

I think latin America, especially the more diverse countries, are way less racist than say Asia. Latin America has a bigger classism problem. Rich - poor and educated - less educated.
I’m white (European) and my wife is brown/morena. It really depends how you behave and dress. I would get a lot of attention in Asia and it didn’t matter that much how I dressed. I don’t get that much attention here if I’m dressed how I feel comfortable (every day its hot) with like easy t-shirts, sports bermudas and flipflips…I will get an instant way more attention in the streets the moment I wear nice jeans, expensive looking latin style long sleeve shirt and nice clean leather shoes instead of trainers or flipflops…appearences and attention to how you present yourself matter a lot.
This is how I experience it and my opinion. Racism can never be 100% excluded but S-America definately not as racist as other places, I see a lot of mixed couples.
I live in the Caribbean region of Colombia.
